00:00You know, when I look at just your golf swing, it's super efficient. I love the technique that you have.
00:05You know, how have you been able to, you know, kind of deal with what I didn't realize you had
00:10in kind of high school, which was a little bit of a back problem that you kind of dealt with
00:14over, I'm not sure how long you've had this kind of nagging little back injury.
00:18But, you know, how have you been able to transition into, you know, with all this speed, learning how to
00:24first make it sure it's, you know, in a canoe and you're not going to tip over when you're swinging
00:30this hard and just having more longevity in your career?
00:35So, yeah, it's, you know, I saw the TGL thing that whatever that clubbed speed thing. And I was like,
00:41I didn't even know I was doing that.
00:42But I, it was funny in high school. I think I was like 14 or 15 years old. And it's
00:51a funny story. I mean, we went, I had scoliosis. So I, I was struggling to even get up in
00:57the morning and like, even like bend over and, and I like didn't tell my mom and dad because I
01:02wanted to play events.
01:03You know, they were going to take me out if I told them I was, you know, hurting. And, um,
01:07it was the South, South beach amateur. I'm pretty sure. And I was, I think I was 14 and it's
01:12always like December, right?
01:13Oh, such, that was my favorite events. Cause it was right next to my house. And, um, I remember I
01:19was walking up the last green. I think my dad was catting for me and I could barely walk up
01:23the 18 fairway.
01:24And then, so we went to a doctor right after Christmas and he was like, Hey, you know, you have
01:30really bad scoliosis and a pulled muscle on your back. And I was like, okay, what does that mean? And
01:35he was like, well, you know, we could do physical therapy for like six months or we can do surgery.
01:40And I was like, I'm not doing surgery. I was like, when's the soonest I can play golf? And he
01:45was like, well, we don't know really if you can play golf right now. Like, we don't know what's going
01:48to happen to your back.
01:50And at 14, you know, my parents walked out of the room and he, it was just me and him.
01:55And, um, he told me, he was like, we don't know if you're really going to play golf again. And
01:59I looked at him at 14 year old Luke. And I was like, F you. I was like, I'm playing
02:03golf. Um, and lucky enough, God blessed me six weeks later after physical therapy, seven weeks, I was perfectly fine
02:09and healthy. And, um, ever since that day, I took the gym and stretching and physical therapy, all those things,
02:16super serious.
02:16And I realized with gaining so much speed, your body's not really ready for it. And I had to eat
02:22more food, gain weight, all these things. And now I'm the healthiest I've ever been. No back problems, nothing like
02:29that. You know, I have great physio guy, Aki, which is the man, um, Joe Russo, obviously, and, and everyone.
02:36And, um, you know, my body over the last probably two years has been just getting better and better and
02:43better.
02:43You know, I haven't felt any pain anywhere, which is amazing. And, you know, in college, obviously, you know, how
02:49college is like, you step out on a 7 a.m. tee time and probably roll your back for like
02:53two minutes and then go play. And, you know, I realized that's probably not the best thing to do all
02:58the time. And, um, I started to take it really, really serious. And, you know, I'm starting to gain speed
03:04that I didn't even know I really had.
03:05Um, you know, it feels, it doesn't even feel like I'm swinging a hundred percent. It feels like I'm swinging
03:1180%. And, you know, I'm cruising at 125 miles an hour. And I'm like, this is, this is different for
03:16me. And, um, I'm almost like trying to be like, okay, like how much can I really go more? Like,
03:23I don't want to like overdo it and then get so fast to where it's just the dispersion gets out
03:28of sorts. So, um, you know, that's something I'm working on, which is a great problem to have.
03:33Because, you know, it's not like I'm not fast enough. And, um, I think obviously with the wedges and, you
03:39know, short irons, that's something that I'm working on really heavy with because, you know, speed's very important during that.
03:44And, um, I think Jeff's doing a great job with that as well.
