00:00I want to try this, and he was going to stand, you know, super open.
00:04And I brought this little thing from my studio just up the street
00:07where I was just trying to get him to move the putter pretty clean on line.
00:13But obviously his baseline there, you know, you can see with his lower body
00:16is just so wide open to the left.
00:19Yeah, I see that, man.
00:21When we looked at his face on, it was causing him problems as well
00:26with where his ball position was relative to his feet.
00:31So because he turned his feet and his whole lower body so far to the left,
00:36effectively his ball position relative to his feet had gotten way, way, way back in.
00:41Oh, it's gotten back. Wow.
00:43Yeah.
00:43Wow, look at that. I can see that.
00:46So this was at Palm Beach at the Cognizant.
00:51He doesn't look happy with that putt either.
00:55He's already mad on the putting green.
00:56That's when you know he's a guy that's frustrated with his game at the time.
01:00Yeah. So, I mean, we, you know, we come off, we come off this, this week.
01:04And, you know, it wasn't a brilliant week on the greens.
01:08Obviously, Pebble, he'd struggled.
01:10And, you know, JJ, his caddy, and myself, we've had a pretty long relationship now.
01:15I, you know, we both had worked together with Colin Murakawa.
01:19Yeah.
01:19And, you know, I feel like I've had a lot of support and confidence from JJ over the years.
01:26And when we got to Bay Hill in the following week, you know, he was in an elevated event.
01:33But I was like, look, do you want to look like the best putter in the world, first of all?
01:40Because we, first of all, you don't look like a good putter.
01:45And second of all, you know, I think there just needs to be some changes that are really going to
01:50help you long term.
01:52And one of the things he really struggled with when he stood like this was he would hit it off
01:58the heel a lot.
02:00Would he do want to do?
02:02Yeah, big time.
02:04So, you know, he draws the golf ball.
02:06So a lot of the draw components in his golf swing, the path was working super in and out.
02:13The ball's back in a stance.
02:15Like kind of things you'd want to see for a draw.
02:18Yeah.
02:21So, you know, the ball kind of starting right off his baseline from his feet.
02:26So, yeah, these were the things that I just didn't like seeing from him.
02:30And we got a chance to go to go into my putting studio as well and baseline some numbers.
02:38So we just went back to like real basics.
02:41And I said to him, I was like, look, if you were going to teach a five-year-old how
02:45to putt, how would you how would you explain it to them?
02:49And, you know, he was like, well, if they were standing on train tracks and the ball and the putter
02:55was on one train track and my feet were on the other train track.
02:59And then you just basically move your shoulders and the putter goes back and through and the ball starts down
03:05that line.
03:07So you can see here we worked on on getting the shaft lined up with that shaft on the ground,
03:13with that stick on the ground.
03:14The ball position was better too.
03:16Way more forward, yeah.
03:18He was able to stay in the putt a lot easier.
03:22He wasn't sort of backing up and out of it because of his ball position being so far back as
03:27well.
03:29And, you know, the first thing he said after we took these these two videos was like, oh, I actually
03:35look like a good putter in these videos.
03:38Hey, that was something you were trying to get him to at least visually look like that he knew what
03:44he was doing.
03:44And I could see it here, man, like when you have an open stance and the ball back, there's not
03:50a whole lot of good that can come from that.
03:52You might have one hot putting around, but over the course of a season, putting on different grasses, different speeds,
03:57having to adjust with wind day in and day out.
04:00You got no chance to be a good putter out there.
04:02At least one of the better putters on the PGA Tour gets to the level that he wants to get
04:06to.
04:07Yeah, yeah.
04:08And obviously you can see it from this angle massively where, you know, his knees, his feet, everything have lined
04:15up way better.
04:16He's hitting it way more out of the center of the putter.
04:20And, you know, it actually cleaned up a lot of his speed as well because he started hitting the ball
04:26way more out of the center of the face.
04:29And weirdly, these were, these were changes that we made the week of Phoenix when he almost won.
04:36And then, you know, with Pebble being the week after he, you know, it had worked for one week.
04:42Then obviously it went bad.
04:43And then by Cognizant, he was like, I'm just going to try something.
04:46Yeah.
04:47And this was sort of JJ, you know, really being a massive help as a caddy getting into, getting into
04:54it with, with him and saying, look, this,
04:57this worked, like, don't give up on it so quickly.
05:00Let's get back to this.
05:02And, you know, the, the, the difference is, is obviously pretty apparent from, from the eye, you know.
