00:00Well, we'll get a lot, actually, to Brandon Pajemski, Moses Moody,
00:04and just the whole look of Warrior basketball.
00:08This is such a small sample, but it gives you a little look into, again,
00:13not what the future's going to look like because it's never going to look like this,
00:17and I'm not going to take one basketball game and a nice little flurry in the fourth quarter
00:21to now suddenly tell you that the Warriors have action.
00:25But I do think that games like this allow us to maybe take a further look at some of the
00:32pieces
00:33and sort of decide what the Warrior organization should be thinking about them going forward.
00:42You know, Steve Kerr talked after the game yesterday about how, yeah, it's quiet,
00:47no one's talking about it, but Moses Moody's been incredible.
00:50Now, I think he's mainly talking about shooting the ball.
00:53His defense has been weird the last couple of weeks, so good moments, bad moments,
00:58but Moses Moody has suddenly become kind of consistent, like a piece that you can play with.
01:06And if the Warrior fan base, if all of us can collectively find our way
01:12through the weeds of the Brandon Pajemski conversation,
01:16if we can have it without getting all nuts about Kaminga and Kerr
01:23and just simply start looking at, like, is this somebody that you want on your team going forward?
01:31What do you think of his game?
01:32I thought Kerr was pretty honest after the game.
01:34He's like, it's been some good, it's been some bad.
01:37And here's what we're trying to get Brandon to do.
01:40We're trying to have him, you know, dominate the ball less.
01:44Trust the game and the process.
01:47I don't know.
01:47I found those two guys to be pretty interesting coming out of yesterday,
01:51particularly with the numbers that they put up.
01:53Especially pods, if you look at the first three quarters and then the fourth quarter,
01:56it's like the one thing about Brandon is that he will never shy away from trying to be the best
02:02he can be.
02:03He goes one for nine through three quarters, and then he still comes out.
02:07And it's like, you know, I'm going to go ahead and try and score and score and score.
02:10And he did, and he stayed aggressive.
02:12And that's why you love him, and you also kind of, like, shake your head at him.
02:16But that's pods.
02:17That's part of the pods experience is, you know, no matter what he's going through,
02:21he's going to still try and think that he's the best player on the court at all times.
02:26Yeah.
02:27And he needs to stop doing that.
02:28Well, I mean, not in the fourth quarter.
02:30No, but that's not him.
02:33Like, let's not do that.
02:34But, like, you know, when he hits the bottom of the backboard with a three-pointer,
02:40that's his worst moment.
02:41The fourth quarter yesterday was his best moment.
02:45Let's talk about what he is 95% of the time, which is something in between those two things.
02:51Yeah.
02:51And, you know, like, this is, it's sort of not quite yet, but we're getting close to decision time on
02:58him.
02:59And I just think the whole thing's gotten lost in, wow, he's the teacher's pet.
03:05And Kaminga, and it's like, boy, yesterday provides a real opportunity to see if we can move through all of
03:12that
03:13and just talk about Brandon Pajemski, the basketball player.
03:17Yeah.
03:18And do you want him?
03:19And what should that price be?
03:22He's sort of like he's going into an extension-eligible offseason.
03:26If they do nothing with him, you all know this process because it's exactly what they did with Jonathan last
03:31year.
03:32Extension-eligible, if he doesn't get it, then he plays another year, and then he's a restricted free agent.
03:38And what do you want the Warriors to do about that?
03:40And Moses Moody already has his contract, but, like, I don't know, man.
03:45I think if you segment the whole thing like a puzzle, piece by piece, individual by individual,
03:52you take games like yesterday and weeks like last week, and you start to see things.
03:58And you wonder, who has the ability to kind of step up?
04:02Who has the ability to play a new level of basketball?
04:06The Warriors cracked a code 10 years ago, but codes don't last a decade in the NBA.
04:12The game has changed.
04:13And now you need, like, everyone noticed how quick the ball moved yesterday.
04:18Yep.
04:18Why?
04:19Because there was no pecking order.
04:21There's no ball stopping.
04:23Nobody's good enough for that.
04:25Nobody.
04:26Right.
04:26So, okay, who fits into that brand of basketball?
04:31I found it interesting, because you're finding a few people at times, whether it's Pods, Moody,
04:36Guy Santos, where they look like they're fitting into that brand of basketball.
04:40Yeah, and D'Anthony Melton.
04:41For sure.
04:41I mean, the more he plays, the more you can afford him, which is, you know, part of the
04:45challenge, I think, because he is awesome in this way.
04:49Like, exactly what we were talking about.
04:51Like, the ball moves, and he can play in that style.
04:54And Pods, honestly, he played all 12 minutes in the fourth quarter.
04:57He had 15 points in the fourth, eight rebounds in the quarter.
05:01He had 15 and eight.
05:03Like, if you thought about that for the whole game, that'd be a great game.
05:07He had 15 and eight in the fourth quarter.
05:09Those are big numbers.
05:10Yeah.
05:10Big numbers.
05:11He almost had triple-double.
05:12Right.
05:12It's just interesting about the Moody piece, because when he signed that extension, it was
05:17very quiet.
05:18It was three years.
05:19It was $39 million.
05:20And it's like, OK, good price.
05:22Good player.
05:23I mean, he's your seventh or eighth guy, and now he starts.
05:26And now it's like, that's a bargain.
05:27So what will Pods want?
05:29What could he possibly earn?
05:31That becomes something for, you know, July to keep an eye on.
05:34OK, so here's Steve Kerr after the game yesterday with regard to the up-and-down nature of Brandon
05:40Podjemski's season.
05:42It's been up-and-down, for sure.
05:43But our season has been up-and-down as a whole.
05:47And sometimes a team's struggles impacts the individuals.
05:51But we know what he can do.
05:54You know, for the last couple of years, he's been one of our highest plus-minus players.
06:00He's a very versatile player.
06:02The rebounding is what attracted us to him in the first place, you know, coming out of
06:06Santa Clara.
06:07And when you've got rebounds like that, you know he has great anticipation.
06:11So it's really more a matter of finding that sweet spot that we're trying to get him to,
06:18where he's making plays, but he's not dominating the ball.
06:22And that's his next step.
06:26And you can see tonight there was a little of both, and he got himself in trouble a couple
06:30times.
06:30But when he gets off it, and then the ball starts moving, then he gets it back.
06:36It's totally different.
06:38The defense is closing out on him.
06:39He can use that leverage to get past people, make a pass, score a layup.
06:44So he's a really unique player, but he's still finding his way.
06:49And here's Steve Kerr on what he's seeing from Moses Moody.
06:52Moses has been brilliant for six weeks.
06:55You know, he's shooting the lights out, the confidence.
06:58He's, you know, maybe been our most consistent performer.
07:02His on-ball defense is top of the league against pick and roll.
07:05He's such a great teammate.
07:07You know, he's there for you every night, the way he works.
07:11He's so poised.
07:13It's really fun to watch Moses blossom and have such a good season.
07:19And, you know, there was a stretch in there for a month or so, maybe in December, where
07:23he cooled off, but I think this is the guy who he is.
07:27He's really a good shooter and good defender and somebody you can count on every night.
07:33So I start looking at these two players.
07:35Like, let's focus on them for just a second.
07:37There are others.
07:38We can get to Will Richard, for example, who I know people really like and excited about
07:43him.
07:43But Pods and Moody have been with the team now for a little while and they are currently
07:49miscast because by virtue of simply the idea that you and I are sitting here starting off
07:56a show on Monday talking about Brandon Pajemski and Moses Moody tells you that they are being
08:00miscast because they are not headliners.
08:04And that's that's the issue.
08:06That's why I think sometimes, particularly Pods, for the reasons that we know.
08:11But I think that's why they get center square and then they get a lot of stuff thrown at
08:16him.
08:17Tar and feather.
08:17Let's let's get mad about it.
08:20How do you all feel about the idea of Pods and Moody just being, you know, pieces?
08:25Yes, just pieces.
08:27Just warriors.
08:28Just pieces of the team.
08:29Pieces of the rotation.
08:30Think of the way the Thunder do what they do.
08:31They won a great game yesterday with no Shea and no J-Dub.
08:36They didn't play.
08:36They played without him and they beat the Cavs.
08:38And it's like all those other guys that are just guys.
08:41Do you know what I mean?
08:42And they can step up in moments, but then they just kind of fade back to the guy over
08:48there in the corner that can shoot the ball.
08:51Like if Pods would do what Carr is telling him to do here, like just get rid of the ball
08:56and trust it'll come back.
08:58Stop.
08:58Stop trying to break people down on the dribble.
09:01Then, like, we're good here, right?
09:05I feel that way.
09:06I mean, we're good.
09:07And he had 19 and 15 rebounds and nine assists.
09:11And, I mean, that's not going to be the norm, of course, because he's not going to be able
09:14to play 36 minutes every night.
09:16But, yeah, if he can be that guy just to play the role.
09:20And I think about GP2, for example, last night where, or yesterday rather, where he played
09:25his usual game.
09:26He scored 15 because they didn't have as much scoring.
09:29And so he was able to go out there and do a little bit more.
09:31But he has made a great career by being that guy.
09:35He can be that guy.
09:37GP2, like, play your role.
