01:21defend the best you can and he does take a charge come and grab a rebound make the smart play stay out
01:29of the way and when those guys are gone now pods has to do things that he's not necessarily as
01:34good at and coming gets different because when those guys are out and coming is here now coming
01:40steps up and he fancies himself as the one and he can be but he has not been in a small sample able
01:48to do that and like tim said can you do it 20 plays over a seven minute stretch can you be consistent
01:53night in and night out and that's where it's frustrating for coming and watching coming because
01:59the flashes last night oh man cuts and the dunk and the follow the follow dunks are just
02:05it's insane nobody else in the warriors can come close to that they're intoxicating so i get that
02:10they're completely intoxicating but that doesn't like that can't be it that can't be the whole story

02:24describe what podjemski does connector he's a connector yeah and that's a lot of people i get it a lot on

02:39and i think that's what you're seeing when steph and jimmy aren't out there well i think that's i
02:44think that's pretty fair so you know i i know that there's no way to satisfy everybody that's life
02:50um but and i don't know where this is going to head and who's going to be healthy and all of that
02:55but if i had to predict this on december 5th um yeah today is today is just another day where it
03:03feels like jonathan and the warriors would probably be better off with a parting of ways
03:07and i think that brandon podjemski's minutes are going to start lessening but i say that without
03:13knowing who else is going to be healthy so so maybe it won't go that way i don't know and you heard
03:19tim say it the warriors love pods yeah the warriors love pods and i would say that this is going to
03:25happen so warrior fans just get yourself prepared when jimmy and draymond and steph all come back
03:30pods will play more than pat spencer pods will play more than pat spencer but he may play less
03:36than d anthony melton that's fine but what i'm saying is because of the word grandy just used
03:41evoking steve kerr he's right he is a connector and if you look at three man lineups this year
03:47of the most productive lineups pods is a part of three of the top seven connecting with jimmy and
03:53steph steph and draymond and draymond and quinton well as far as plus minus what you've watched pat
03:59succeed at the last couple of games doesn't work or happen when steph curry's in the game he's not
04:05a connector right that spencer's a baller yeah well but they need him to be out there's also got the
04:10ball in his hand right right like you're not going to stick pat over there and on the other wing
04:15and just be like just spot up and and be ready like that doesn't feel like that's what he's going
04:21to do he could but you'd rather have seth buddy or quinton do that ahead of him and maybe even
04:26podjewski yeah yeah but i do think that melton is a real threat to pods's minutes and i don't know
04:35if that's the right word for it um there's probably quite a thirst for somebody to to take over his
04:41minutes if d'anthony melton is healthy and playing at his highest level yeah he should probably be the
04:47starting guard next to steph curry that's probably where this should go i don't know how long it'll take
04:53to get there but i don't maybe as soon as when steph returns perhaps i don't know i don't know
05:00how they're going to do it maybe you like uh melton coming off the bench to be more of a facilitator
05:05with cominga for the 41 days that he still is going to be here or however long it takes for them to
05:09trade him i do think that combinations will predicate who plays when and who plays with whom
05:16you know he's had al hallford coming off the bench because it seemed like it's a better fit with him
05:21coming in for those minutes at that time so we'll see what he does with melton i know that if you have
05:27melton and curry both in there well no matter who you have in there it's a small backcourt if you have
05:32melton and curry pods is not big yeah but if you have melton and curry that's boy that's a lot better
05:38on defense than pods and curry right i mean melton and anybody for sure yeah and you know you need to
05:44have somebody on the floor at any time who can guard the ball and you know forget the teams you're
05:49going to face every team has at least one or two guys who have the haha who can go by you so not
05:55the warriors i mean i mean i'm kidding but no but you're not kidding right like coming is not like
06:02i'm gonna take you off the dribble he'll get you into the key and he'll shoot over you that's his
06:06problem actually yeah that's his problem well he's never going to be that at six seven well then he
06:12needs to probably adjust his game quite frankly well the adjustment that they want him to make
06:20i don't think that he wants to play that way and jimmy even said it when we had that long article i
06:25think it was slates on espn he talked about yeah jimmy's like hey if you want me to play the dunker
06:31spot i'll do it but really they want jonathan to be in the dunker spot which is we'll penetrate and
06:36we'll give you that bounce pass and go ahead and smash on somebody yes when he tries to drive by
06:40someone what usually happens is he doesn't get by that person so then what does he do he spins his
06:47back yep and then he does a turnaround fall away from 11 feet with a hand in his face and then the
06:53world stops because it's literally the shot the warriors have asked him to stop taking everyone and
06:59he keeps taking it but he keeps taking it because it's not 100 his fault he's got the
07:06ball at the end of the shot clock they need him to do things and penetrate but when he gets in there
07:11that that's what ends up being the shot and it's like well you got to take it if there's two seconds
07:17left on the timer but it's not a good shot it's all by the way he's not even really good at it
07:23right that's the other thing that i can't stand it's like you know what i mean i i bet you've all
07:27had this scenario in your lives i remember a coach doing this one time remember when you're kids
07:32and you're on a youth team and then you have that little party at the pizza place at the end
07:37and everybody gets their trophy and the coach has got to say a blurb or two about each player right
07:42it was one one year where for whatever reason the blurb that i got was about uh my outside shooting
07:50and i thought that i had range a little bit beyond what the coach thought and but and this is when we
07:57were really little and i could shoot a little bit like i could be a setup shooter and and uh so there
08:03was one game where i let one fly from really far and it went in and the coach at the party is like
08:10i was going to kill him for taking it and it was the no no no yes all right okay let's get back on d
08:17and and and that's so that's but but jonathan's not even having success with the shot
08:22there's a bad shot and it's not going in right and even when they are going in it still can be
08:28a bad shot and i'm running through his first quarter shot log and here's a 15 foot step back
08:35baseline jumper with 14 on the shot clock that's a bad shot and i know they were down 18 to 5 here
08:41they're down 23 5 he's gonna cross the guy over and oh that's a tough shot that's a missed layup
08:46it just it was shot after shot down 25 5 early clock penetrate up and over somebody down 20 early
08:55clock and that's the frustration where that shot is there any time any time of the day you can go
09:02ahead and like fire that up with three left on the clock why shoot it with 18 on the shot clock it's a
09:06bad one so i mean you really start to move into december and january where you've got the 23 games
09:14under your belt now you're starting to get a sense i think of what we all want the warriors to be
09:20and my best guess in this moment you heard tim say a few things about this you're looking for a trade
09:29or two that brings back fewer players than you send out so by the way keep that in mind this has to be
09:38about more than just jonathan because you can't out you can't send out two jonathans no so who knows
09:46maybe pods and jonathan will remain teammates somewhere else somewhere else possible i think i'm more
09:53likely to me it's buddy healed buddy or moody or who knows like their salary implications it's got to fit
10:00but what the warriors are probably looking to do they're hoping that melton really steps forward
10:05for a prominent role maybe even a starting role um you're looking to send out more players than you
10:11bring back that allows pat spencer to be your kind of if you want full-time backup point guard
10:17steph's either not in the game not on the floor type guy um and then you know do you find some
10:25athleticism or some height and some scoring with whoever it is that's coming back that's probably how
10:31they want it to look a month and a half from now doing it is harder than saying it trades are hard
10:37trades yes they are very hard and you look at last night and they played 14 different people in that
10:43game not including jimmy and steph so right now you've got 16 people on your team who you want to
10:49play and lj crier who grandy loves he's a guy who's on a two-way and he'll eventually i think be up here and
10:55he'll be playing so yeah whenever you get to trade season you're going to want to trade three for one
11:02or four for two or maybe even four for one depending on for one yeah that one is because you start
11:07looking at the contracts and you've got coming at 22 and a half but he's only making nine and he's on
11:14a team actually under contract next year then a player option so if you're an acquiring team buddy for
11:22nine million dollars that's a good contract yeah it's not i mean it's a it's not going to kill you
11:26and if he can make shots then that's an absolute steal moses making 12 and a half uh he only has two
11:33more years on his deal so that's i mean if you're looking for a rotational piece that's a reasonable
11:38contract so yeah you've got a lot of options i think contract wise to to throw guys in the mix the
11:45warriors have no saggy awful contracts that are hanging around their neck i would i would argue
11:51they have none of those nba contracts that you see teams have you know where you're like like a
11:56bradley beale deal they get none of that stuff sitting there um even if you don't like certain
12:02contracts they're over pretty soon yeah jimmy's got the rest of this year and then 57 next year
12:07right but my point is is like this all over next year what what how what are the warriors committed
12:14to beyond next year one more year that's it end of the list will rich will richard on a uh rookie
12:21deal and it's it's in italics because it's not fully guaranteed but doesn't draymond have one more
12:26year after this yes but he's talking about after that year beyond the last year is next year as is
12:32steph and jimmy and i'm pretty sure he has a player option one more year beyond a player opt after
12:38that it's not showing up here in the uh basketball reference so yeah i thought it was just a straight
12:44four-year hundred million yeah but i thought he's i thought that was two years ago no it was uh in
12:502023 july so 2024 before 25 this would be year three of the four maybe so his player options for
12:59next year here i tips okay so yeah moses moody that's essentially what they've committed beyond

14:09like i i watched last night's game uh and uh and obviously like everybody else i felt like turning it
14:16off after 30 to 10 but then i kept listening to the game on the radio on 95.7 the game uh while i was at
14:24the gym and i saw saw the warriors slowly but surely creeping back into the game with you know
14:30a lineup of uh sort of you know second round picks and guys who have to sort of fight for their right
14:36to be on the team like that's that's the profile that i saw in that fourth quarter lineup you look
14:41at like pat spencer has had to fight for a two-way spot every single year he's been on this team
14:46uh g santos he has had to fight for the last roster spot every single year he's been on this team
14:51the anthony melton is a second round pick will richard was one of the last three picks of the
14:54draft so these are all guys who've had to fight for their right for every rotation minute they
14:59have earned and you can make the argument that moody and kaminga while being first round picks
15:07and being a part of the second timeline have not had to fight for their right to be have every
15:11every single minute and i i i go back to their second year on the team when the warriors after
15:18winning a championship did did not really sign anyone of rotational significance apart from
15:24dante di vincenzo and that was basically hand gifting rotation spots to moody to kaminga to
15:30wiseman at that time and you know that started a you know a sequence of events a series of unfortunate
15:37events to where uh those players never really felt like never really felt that they had to earn it
15:44and whenever they went and pouted like like kaminga going to the media and aaron turner tweeting on uh
15:51on twitter is is much worse to me than creating a spat internally with the team in my opinion
15:59right and like my my first notion is the second you do that you're on thin ice with this team and that
16:06just never happened to kaminga right so that's why you had the first media uh uh you know outlet that
16:11came out after his third year and then you had the you had this later article that came out earlier
16:16this year after kaminga got demoted back to the bench again so like i i just think the warriors need
16:21a clean slate of of of all this they need a fresh start just like those guys need a fresh start as
16:26well and you and you know like i feel confident in the rest of the rotation to be able to pick up the
16:32slack when those guys are gone and hopefully you get a couple more core pieces and into the picture
16:37that's how i look at it um but but yeah i mean and and ownership has a ton to blame regarding this
16:44i feel like the coddling has has been from the top down interesting yeah guru thanks that comment
16:49there at the end is uh that's an interesting one ownership has to handle some of the blame and
16:56there's been a lot of coddling look whenever it comes to blame it's always kind of fascinating to me
17:03because that that drives a lot of people's fandom um i i don't much get into it because to me i feel
17:11like uh if you're an organization then everybody gets some by rule like people want to like pull that
17:20apart well ownership gets some blame and the coaches get some blame yeah yeah you're all doing this and
17:27if it doesn't work then you all share in this a player you share in this coach you share in this
17:34ownership you share in this i don't know who he's referring to with regard to coddling i i don't i don't
17:40know i don't know who got coddled in uh in this whole process i don't even know what that means i just find
17:47a lot of what's happening right now with warrior basketball is actually pretty predictable it it wasn't
17:54inevitable but it's predictable and as i said to you earlier i don't think any of this stuff
18:01comes from a bad place i don't think jonathan kaming is a bad person uh you know selfish punk i don't
18:07think he's that i don't think brandon podjemski is trying to trigger you you know for most people
18:13it's just that he plays the two guards slash one and that's who they have and so they put him in the
18:20game a lot and that that bothers people i don't think steve kerr hates young people and and obviously
18:25joe lacob is not a bad owner like he's the kind of owner you want if you're a fan um but sometimes
18:32interests compete in a relationship and when that happens sometimes the relationship ends yeah i mean
18:41it happened with jordan pool yeah the relationship ended for a variety of reasons it wasn't as much as
18:47his play as it was other things and perhaps his play as well james wiseman the relationship ended
18:52because you didn't think that he was going to be good enough and you were right at that point wrong
18:57to pick him but right to move off of him at whatever point you could so i'm just kind of stuck on the
19:02whole idea of coddling i don't see any of these guys being coddled pods has got a lot of chance to
19:08go out and play and he will continue to do so and steve kerr i don't think he coddles him he probably
19:13likes him more than the fan base does i don't think that coming has been quote coddled i mean if
19:19you're going to get healthy scratches down the stretch of a season that that's not coddling that's
19:25the opposite of coddling in my opinion so i just look at this team and they're they're stuck a little
19:31bit right now because the big three steph jimmy and draymond are old and they've been injured the
19:37middle three jk and moody and pods they're having a hard time stepping up when they need to step up
19:43and really performing when it's that their time to shine when the big three is actually there
19:49and then the little three as i've been calling them just the other guys they've been the best
19:53part about the season outside of steph curry going 46 49 and back-to-back games and a plucky win over
19:59denver outside of that the will richard the pat spencer experience that to me has been the most fun
20:06about this year i don't feel like the win over denver was plucky it totally was what no plucky is like
20:12when you you know it's kind of cute no with every passing day it looks pluckier that was like that
20:18was an adult win right that was that was an adult without that had hair on it but they're not plucky
20:24well it's plucky because they're better than you and they're going to beat you probably eight or
20:29nine times out of ten oh i mean you know nifty little win at home does that feel better for you
20:35not really neat no neat win no it had happened the next night uh i don't even remember you went to
20:41portland and you schmidt all over yourself oh yeah yeah so whatever yeah whatever i mean the denver win
20:46looks more and more improbable with every passing day i think like my my 20 seconds on that is this
20:53exhibit z about how people have watched steph curry do so many great things that now you just forget
21:01i heard a lot of people like oh last night that was as much fun as i've had watching warrior ball
21:06all year well then you're forgetting a lot of the games the san antonio games the denver game we could
21:14do a couple others were way more fun than last night because they won and because it was epic
21:20performances by great players not pat scoring 16 in a loss like come on unexpected it was very fun
21:29but it was not the most fun game of the year no absolutely fun and entertaining and surprising
21:35reminds me a little bit of the movie uh parasite where i walked into it i knew nothing about it
21:41i heard it was going to be a good movie and by the end i was like wow that movie was the pat
21:46spencer movies both games this week have been the same this stupid first half yep followed by unlikely
21:53people in the second half making you go oh oh oh wait a minute no oh never mind okay that's good
22:01no that's exactly what happened in both games this just yesterday was like a little bit better chance
22:08to win not maxi no no edgecomb anyway parasite won best picture dibs that would be like pat spencer
