00:00Grandy's back there painting with the rejoin.
00:02For those of you who can't hear it, this is squabble up.
00:05And we got ourselves a little bit of a squabble last night
00:09when the eighth and ninth man on your team collides.
00:12Squabble up. Squabble up. Squabble. Squabble.
00:15I think it was a squabble.
00:18Trying to figure out how I want to say this.
00:22Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum. Squabble up.
00:24Like, it's fine. I can say it.
00:27Everybody's like, you know, the eighth guy and the ninth guy.
00:30In my mind, I'm also thinking, I mean, in the NBA, it's two white dudes.
00:35Like, I mean, that's why I'm calling it.
00:40It's the funniest dust-up ever.
00:42Yeah.
00:43Because I think everybody looked at it and were like,
00:45I don't know if we give a crap who's right and who's wrong.
00:50Right.
00:50It's kind of same vibe when Pods looks at Kerr and he wants a review
00:56versus when Draymond looks at Kerr and wants a review.
01:00Draymond's got some gravity.
01:02And so Kerr's like, well, we should probably do that.
01:06And sometimes he'll look back at iPad guy.
01:08Second row.
01:09And he's like, it's Draymond.
01:11We should probably do this because it's Draymond
01:13and he knows what he's talking about.
01:15Been around.
01:16He's got a bunch of rings.
01:17Pods is out here going, coach, review it.
01:19He didn't even turn around to look at iPad guy.
01:22He tells Brandon to go to his room.
01:24Right.
01:25Like, I don't care what you want me to do.
01:31Go play basketball.
01:33He cannot twirl that finger.
01:34Stop holding the ball.
01:37Yeah.
01:38And Quinton Post, fresh off of a DNP,
01:44and Brandon Pajemski,
01:46who represents this weird, unique thing with the fan base,
01:51even though I've never seen so many rebounds in a 72-hour period
01:57from somebody below 6'5 in my life.
02:00Right.
02:0030 rebounds in the last two games,
02:03which I don't know if I should be happy about that
02:06or look at the rest of the Warriors and be like,
02:08where the hell are all of you?
02:11Where are you?
02:12You're 6'9".
02:13Why is Pods getting all the boards?
02:16It's a little bit like seeing the 9-year-old at the Easter egg hunt
02:20when it's a bunch of, like, 4- and 5-year-olds.
02:22It's like, okay, okay, Blake, you're 4 years older.
02:26Can you just take, like, 3 or 4
02:28and let your little brother have a turn?
02:30He wants it.
02:31And this is what I said yesterday in the Take It to the Bank prediction.
02:34I like the over at 5 1⁄2.
02:36The man loves rebounds.
02:38Dude, easiest bet of all time.
02:40Yep.
02:41Yeah.
02:42I banged it.
02:43It's like Joey Chestnut on the 4th of July.
02:46Cash me out one time.
02:47Yes.
02:48I mean, he's going to eat 68 hot dogs while you're just sitting there.
02:52Pods is going to get his rebounds because he really wants them.
02:56He wants it bad.
02:58How?
02:59I'm going to look at all 15 of them and see how many of them
03:01he just straight up snatched from a teammate.
03:03No, no, no, no.
03:04Like 30 rebounds in the last two games.
03:08Right.
03:09What do we even – I don't even know what to do with that number.
03:12It's too big for me to comprehend and figure out good, bad, why, why, why.
03:18Last stupid analogy of the day.
03:20Okay.
03:20You ever go to the beach.
03:21Oh, don't do that.
03:22Yeah, it's crazy.
03:23You ever go to the beach and you see that 69-year-old shirtless guy
03:27with the headphones and the metal detector?
03:31I mean, he's out there because he wants to find precious metal.
03:35That's right.
03:35Pods is like that guy in the key.
03:37He wants those rebounds that badly.
03:39Right, but the guy at the beach, my why question is, like, why are you doing this?
03:45Like, what are you getting out of this?
03:46Have you ever found anything that's ever mattered?
03:48Did you ever go to –
03:49Probably once.
03:50Yeah.
03:50Did you ever go to the pawn shop and get more than $7?
03:53Like, but if this is meditative to you, then do it.
03:57If you're, like, walking around the beach with a headset, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
04:01Like, okay, do you.
04:03I don't care.
04:04I get what the value is of what Pods is searching for.
04:08I banged it.
04:09Yeah, it's a rebound.
04:10I knew the second I said it.
04:12Oh, it was good.
04:13But it's a rebound.
04:14There's value in a rebound.
04:16I want someone to do a documentary on why he's getting all of them.
04:23That's what I don't understand.
04:26You can't tell me this is dumb luck.
04:28This is not like Niner injuries.
04:32The ball doesn't – he doesn't have magnets on his uniform.
04:36Why is Pods getting all the rebounds?
04:39Okay, he's good at it.
04:40There's an answer.
04:41He anticipates well.
04:43Fine.
04:4430 in two games?
04:46It's a lot.
04:47It's a lot.
04:48Surrounded by dudes who are somewhere between 6'8 and 7'1.
04:53And little floppy hair Pods has 30?
04:58Boards in two games?
05:00So I'm stuck between, hey, good job, Pods, and, hey, what the hell are the rest of you doing?
05:07Yeah.
05:08What are you doing?
05:10So I don't even know what to do with that number.
05:12It just depends on the rebound.
05:14I'm not going to bore you with all 15, but just looking at the first three, the first one was
05:19he drove and tried to attempt a shot.
05:23The shot got blocked, and he was able to collect it.
05:25That's a rebound.
05:26The second one was a defensive air ball that he caught, and he just is hustling.
05:31He's playing the whole possession, and it's an air ball.
05:33He reads it.
05:34He catches it.
05:35And the third one is a brick three by New Orleans, and he's just out there chilling, and he's able
05:40to grab it.
05:41I do think that's a big part of it now, where teams shoot so many threes that there are longer
05:46rebounds.
05:47You don't have to be Moses Malone anymore, and, you know, Dennis Rodman blocking guys out into tomorrow.
05:53Rebounds now are, from a trajectory standpoint, coming a lot more in the guard-friendly areas.
05:58No, I get that, and you clearly need to anticipate and understand angles.
06:02I just, he's like the Greg Maddox of rebounding guards, and here's what I mean by that.
06:08There's all the stories about the former Braves and Cubs pitcher.
06:13The most fun ones are when, like, he'll be sitting on an off day in the dugout, and there'll be
06:18a certain batter at the plate,
06:19and he would tell the guy sitting next to him, you probably shouldn't sit there.
06:23And he's like, why?
06:25He's like, because this guy's going to foul the ball, and it's going to go right at you.
06:28And the next pitch, line drive, right?
06:31And they're like, what is the matter with you?
06:33How the hell did you know that?
06:35Greg Maddox really, really understood angles and, like, the weaknesses and anticipation with hitters,
06:45all of that, to the point where he could sort of sometimes figure out where the ball was going to
06:50end up.
06:51It's the same thing with pods, I think.
06:54That's the only explanation.
06:56Because look at him, look at who he's standing next to, and tell me how he gets 30 boards.
07:0530 boards in two nights.
07:08I'm seven rebounds through last night.
07:10Three of them were air balls.
07:12But that's anticipation.
07:14It's anticipation, and it's showing up.
07:16And we always tell our kids, like, 90% of life is showing up.
07:20If you're not in it, if you're not, like, out there trying to do something, you're not going to have
07:25things go your way.
07:26But pods, he's out there running every possession.
07:29He wants to be around the basket, and he caught three air balls in one of the rebounds.
07:34Draymond has it, and either pods sniped him or a pelican kind of hits him in the face,
07:40and the ball just kind of pops off of Draymond.
07:42Pods is there.
07:43That's my rebound, everybody.
07:44That's number seven.
07:46You've got my mind in old man-ville with the confidence.
07:51I do that a lot.
07:51Well, no, because, like, the whole showing up thing, right?
07:55Like, who's got a better chance to get the date?
07:59The person who is on Instagram 15 hours a day sending creepy DMs to people,
08:06or the person that actually goes outside and talks to people?
08:11Like, who knows who you're going to meet?
08:13I don't know who you're going to meet, but go.
08:16Go out there.
08:17There's people out there.
08:18You can go to a bar.
08:19Go to a gym.
08:21Go to, I found my lovely at the dog park.
08:24Like, go out, and I don't know, look up.
08:28You could look up.
08:29Who knows?
08:30Someone might talk to you.
08:31You're allowed to talk back to them.
08:34Honestly, this is all within the rules.
08:36But that's what I think is now, I think that's the comp.
08:40Brandon goes outside, and a lot of the rest of the NBA players are on their phone.
08:45They're on social media.
08:46Like, oh, I didn't even see them all over there.
08:48He's running around trying to get a date with the basketball.
08:51Right.
08:51Rebound number eight, defensively, he catches an air ball, and as he catches it, he's falling
08:57out of bounds, and he turns it right over, and the Pelicans get it out, and that's the
09:03one I remembered.
09:04I was like, oh, my God.
09:04So, he's eight rebounds into my review.
09:06He's caught four air balls.
09:08He sniped Draymond on another one, and one of the air balls he caught, he caught it so much
09:14toward the baseline that he immediately gave it away with four seconds left in the quarter
09:18to the other team for a dunk.
09:20So, yeah, 15 rebounds, but these are all not, like, critical rebounds.
09:26They're basically him running around like the kid I talked about on Easter.
09:29He's just pulling Easter eggs because, you know, he wants it more than the other kids.
09:34Sometimes there is, and this does happen in our sort of playground sports a lot, like
09:39there's a certain level of try, and you're actually supposed to not try too hard.
09:45I can remember one time, football game broke out out on the lawn.
09:49This is early college, so freshman year when everyone's in the dorms, and we went out there,
09:54and we're like, okay, you guys want to throw the ball around, and then all of a sudden
09:58there's enough people where you're like, you guys want to play a game?
10:00We'll play a little pickup game.
10:02All right, cool.
10:02Let's play some football.
10:03Well, one of the dudes out there was a high school football player who didn't get to play
10:08in college.
10:08And I should have known the second we were all tossing the ball around, the guy, as
10:14soon as we're like, hey, should we play a game, he put gloves on.
10:17Oh, boy.
10:18And I should have known because I'm over here being like, I'll volunteer to rush the passer
10:24like on this, like, okay, you know what I mean?
10:27Seven banana.
10:28I'll do rush the passer.
10:30And this dumbass who clearly played offensive line in high school or something, first snap,
10:37his glove hands, poof, right in the, I mean, my cheeks, both of them, pow, just whacks me
10:44in the face.
10:46What are you doing?
10:48We're in the, we're in the park, bud.
10:50We're not, scouts aren't watching.
10:54Don't hit me in my face.
10:55Like, let's just, we're having a good time here.
10:57But he was like, no, I'm going to realize my dream right here in front of you.
11:03And I think there's a little pods in that.
11:07He's out there getting 15 rebounds.
11:09And I love what you're looking at.
11:11Cause it feels like half of them shouldn't count, but he's like, I'm going to get all
11:14of those.
11:15All of them stole one from Draymond and Draymond's probably looking at him like to take your gloves
11:19off.
11:20Well, there's another one later in the game where it's a free throw and the ball is basically
11:25going right to Draymond, but pods come in from outside the arc and Draymond sees him
11:30coming.
11:30Draymond doesn't even like move half a muscle and pod soars in.
11:34I got, that's 11.
11:36It's going to be 12.
11:38And he's the king of the, uh, missed free throw rebound.
11:41If you watch it, like you've got four guys kind of boxing out, like, all right, Lou, ready?
11:46And when he shoots it, I'll pretend like I'm going for it.
11:49You pretend to box me out.
11:50Here comes pods from the outside.
11:53That one's mine.
11:54And NBA rebounding is not fundamentally sound.
11:57They sort of, there's almost like an understanding.
11:59Right.
12:00It's a business decision, right?
12:01Amongst both teams.
12:02They're just like, yeah, that one's yours.
12:05Then they just kind of let it, they let it ride.
12:07Um, so if one person is playing at a different speed than the other nine people, then that's
12:13going to happen.
12:14Yeah.
12:14Another one of these, uh, offensive rebound pods comes knifing in from the right wing, all
12:19alone, gets the rebound and misses the layup.
12:22The put back, he probably wanted another rebound.
12:25Couldn't quite get to that one, but I mean, the man loves his rebounds.
12:28Oh my God.
