Tawau became the latest district in Sabah to be declared a flood disaster zone, with 245 displaced victims from 55 families.

This follows gradual flooding resulting from rainfall that hit parts of the district starting late Saturday (Feb 21).

00:06with 245 people from 55 families forced to leave their homes.
00:11The flooding follows heavy rainfall that hit parts of the district starting late Saturday.
00:16As of 8am on Sunday, the total number of displaced residents across four affected districts
00:23Tawau, Kota Marudu, Paitan and Pitas has risen to 5,141 people from 2,160 families.
00:35Pitas recorded the highest number of displaced victims, with 2,210 people from 1,054 households,
00:43followed by Kota Marudu with 1,929 people from 781 families,
00:51and Paitan with 847 people from 270 families.
00:57A total of 80 relief centres remain operational to provide shelter and aid to those affected.
01:04The floods in the four districts have affected 80 villages, but no deaths have been reported so far.
