President Donald Trump has responded to questions about the upcoming midterm elections, saying that presidents traditionally lose seats during midterm cycles. Trump remarked, “Presidents always lose them. I don't know why. They lose them all the time. There were a lot bigger losses than this.” His comments come amid discussions about the political challenges facing the White House and the historical pattern of midterm election setbacks for sitting presidents. The remarks have drawn attention to Trump's assessment of the election results and the broader political landscape ahead.

00:00How does the Republican Party now rebuild after such devastating losses?
00:05We have a great party. We had a bad election because of a few things.
00:09One thing was not getting things approved in the Senate.
00:13One thing was we had a higher oil pressure we had before.
00:17Still lower than Biden and still lower than Obama.
00:21And what we did is something very significant.
00:24We ended Iran having a nuclear weapon. They did nothing.
00:27And you know, right now, the oil is coming down very rapidly.
00:31Unfortunately, when it was learned that the Democrats won that particular interim and just the midterm election,
00:41just so you understand, presidents always lose them.
00:44I don't know why, but they lose them all the time.
00:47There were a lot bigger losses than this.
00:49But when they learned about the midterms, the stock market lost $3 trillion.
00:56That's the most in history.
00:58So in other words, the markets all over the world, when they heard that the Democrats won that election,
01:04the market dropped $3 trillion, the highest amount in history.
01:10But it'll level off and we'll do great.
01:12A couple of months before the new Congress takes their seats, what are your priorities?
01:17What would you like to get done?
01:18What do you think you need to get done before they step in?
01:22The Senate has to act.
01:25The Senate is getting nothing passed.
01:28And it's just killing our country.
01:31That means Democrats and Republicans.
01:33They're just not getting anything done.
01:35So the Democrats vote in a block.
01:37We could have the best bill in the world for our country.
01:39They vote in a block.
01:41And we always have a few Republicans that obstruct them.
01:47And hopefully John Thune can finally get them to act.
01:50I mean, the Senate has to act.
01:51The biggest problem we have, it's a roadblock.
01:54It's you send things to the Senate when you want it to die.
01:58So they have to get together, Schumer and John Thune or whoever is going to be representing the Democrats.
02:05They got to have to get things done.
02:07The Senate, the Senate is killing our country.
02:13Nothing is getting through the Senate.
02:15And you know what?
02:16Our voters saw that.
02:17And that's one of the problems we had, in my opinion, the biggest.
02:21The Save America Act didn't get passed.
02:23All of these things didn't happen.
02:25And I mean, think of it.
02:27Save America.
02:28It's the simplest thing in the world.
02:29So the Senate has to now, the Democrats voted against it unanimously.
02:34So they voted against voter ID and proof of citizenship.
02:38That's Save America.
02:39And how do you do that?
02:41You do that because I guess you want to cheat.
02:43But the Republicans should have passed it.
02:47So with John Thune, who's a good man, it's got to get things done.
02:51Do you still think he's the appropriate leader for Republicans in the Senate?
02:55It's going to be up to the Republicans.
02:56They choose.
02:57I don't choose.
02:57They choose.
02:59Get involved if they choose.
03:02It's a very strong custom.
03:04And it's going to be happening, I guess, next week.
03:06They've got to put John or whoever it is, they've got to get things done.
03:11We have many judges and many other people waiting for approval.
03:15They can't get anything done in the Senate.
03:17These are people that are paying for the attendance.
03:17These are even not just to get a GP and the country schools that have entered.
03:17We have alave.
