Heavy overnight rain in Kuching, Sarawak, has forced the opening of two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) to shelter 197 flood victims as of 10am Wednesday (Dec 31).

00:00Two Temporary Evacuation Centers, PPS, have been opened in Kuching to shelter 197 flood
00:07victims as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, following continuous heavy rain since midnight that
00:13caused flooding across the city.
00:16The Sahrawak Fire and Rescue Department, JBPM Operations Center, reported that 155 victims
00:22from 45 families are staying at the Kampung Sinar Budi Baru Multipurpose Hall, PPS, while
00:29the Stapak Community Hall PPS is accommodating 42 victims, with the number of families still
00:35being confirmed.
00:36JBPM earlier said it received a flood report at 5 a.m., affecting the Taman Desawira and
00:43Kampung Sinar Budi Baru areas.
00:45The Meteorological Department, Met Malaysia, had on Tuesday issued a continuous rain warning
00:51at alert level for several areas in Sarawak for Wednesday and Thursday.
