The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has confirmed 19 reports of serious crimes during Carnival 2026, a significant reduction compared with previous years.

00:00Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin, who served as a gold commander for this year's national operation,
00:07says officers conducted 908 patrols as well as 135 coordinated operational and targeted exercises throughout the country.
00:18While serious incidents did occur, the overwhelming majority of carnival events proceeded without major disruption.

00:46Martin confirmed that 25 persons were arrested, one firearm and five rounds of ammunition were recovered, and 25.38 grams

00:58Police also issued 241 fixed penalty notices and removed 397 vehicles in Port of Spain to maintain traffic flow.
01:09Four serious road traffic accidents were recorded, including two fatalities, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety during the festival.

03:23Assistant Commissioner of Police Garvin Henry, the silver commander, cautioned that figures were still being finalized,
03:30and as a result, he urged patience in making comparison.
03:34DCP Martin said Carnival 2026 demonstrated preparation, partnership, and professionalism.
