00:00I was just reading that a 2024 Panini Revolution Kaboom Vertical Green Victor Wamba Yama Mama card, a one-of
00:07-one, just sold.
00:10And for the life of me, I'm trying to figure this out, but it sold for, you want to take
00:14a guess?
00:16To one-of-one.
00:17Yeah, but he's really young in his career, $500,000.
00:21Yeah, $516,000.
00:23Like, I don't get it. I want to get it.
00:27Like, I've got a bunch of cards from, like, when I grew up. I'm not a current collector.
00:31Yeah, I have them, too. They're still at my parents' house.
00:32I have no idea what they're worth or not. Probably nothing at the end of the day, or, like, $0
00:35.10 a card.
00:36So, I'm like, I have cards from when I was a kid, like we all do at some level, right?
00:40And I'm not a current collector at all.
00:42But there's a part of me that feels like, like, I was an outspoken critic of the NFT world.
00:49Right.
00:49Where I just thought, where everyone is having the wool pull over their eyes,
00:52is why would you spend millions of dollars on a photo, like a digital photo,
00:59that I can go to Google and copy and paste and use it the same way you can have it?
01:04Right, but you don't.
01:04Like, it just never made sense.
01:05And their argument was, well, you don't own it.
01:07It was like, well, it's the same.
01:08I got it.
01:09I have it. You have it.
01:10I can print it. I can frame it.
01:12Right.
01:12I can look at it. I can, you know, go to the bathroom on it.
01:15Right.
01:15Like, I got the same picture you got.
01:17Right.
01:17And I was a big opponent of it.
01:20And I thought everybody was being scammed.
01:22And it turned out on that one, I got that one right.
01:24Completely right.
01:24And you had a lot of, like, very well-to-do, like, influencers,
01:28that marketing guy saying, if you don't get on NFTs, you know,
01:31you're missing out on the easiest way to get rich.
01:34And the NBA did a whole NFT program.
01:36I know my son bought a couple NBA NFTs, you know, small dollar amounts.
01:40And I was like, don't go stop.
01:42Like, you're never going to make money on that.
01:44And I saw some guys who were, like, buying NFTs for, like, a million dollars.
01:49And now they're worth, like, 10 cents.
01:51Well, Logan Paul, this week, you know, we talked about the car.
01:54That was a kooky-choo car, right?
01:55Yeah, well, no, no.
01:56But he lost $600,000 on an NFT.
01:58Yeah, I believe it.
01:58He spent over $600,000.
01:59It's now worth $100.
02:01It was stupid.
02:01Yeah.
02:02So I'm trying to figure out, if you buy this, and again, it's a one-of-one,
02:06and I get it.
02:07You know, they're not going to make it ever again.
02:10But I'm trying to figure out, when you make an investment like that,
02:13half a million dollars, obviously, you're probably wealthy,
02:16and the half a million bucks is money that, if you lost it, c'est la vie.
02:20Like, you're that love of wealth.
02:22Yeah.
02:22Okay?
02:22You and I will never be there, but I'm trying to put myself in that mindset, right?
02:26Yeah.
02:27What's the goal?
02:28Because I would think the goal, at some point, is to resell it.
02:32Yeah.
02:32Because a card is not like, if I bought a structure, if I bought, you know, I don't know, like...
02:41Or even like a big painting, like a...
02:42Yeah.
02:43If you were a hypothetical...
02:44Like, something I could display for people to see and admire and love.
02:46Like a museum, or...
02:48That might be my living room.
02:49Right.
02:49Buddy, come on over.
02:50I've got a Renoir on the wall.
02:52Right.
02:53Like, I've got...
02:53Oh, look at this sculpture I've got.
02:55Mm-hmm.
02:55You know, of Kobe Bryant's last dunk.
02:58Mm-hmm.
02:58That's something I understand that, right?
03:00Mm-hmm.
03:00Well, I just...
03:01I personally don't understand a half a million dollars for a card that I'm never going to
03:06be able to see.
03:07Right?
03:08Yeah.
03:08It's like you're having people over for Thanksgiving, and you pass the card around the table.
03:12Can't do that.
03:13Can't do that.
03:13Because that messes with the value.
03:14Yeah.
03:14Even if it's, you know, protected in some kind of a, you know, your sealant or something.
03:18Like, I would hold that and say, you dropped half a million on this?
03:23Right.
03:23As opposed to, wow, I can appreciate that sculpture, that painting, that whatever, right?
03:31Yeah.
03:31So, I'm just having a tough time figuring out the skyrocketing cost of these cards, and
03:37I know there's a lot of different companies.
03:38Topps is the most famous one.
03:40Mm-hmm.
03:40Panini's one.
03:42Don Russo's one, right?
03:43Yeah.
03:44But I can't figure out why you're dropping half a milli on a card.
03:49Now...
03:49Like, what's the upside of that?
03:5020 years from now, he goes down as the third greatest player of all time, and that card
03:55is now worth 10 million bucks?
03:56Well, that would be the downside.
03:59Like, had you bought the LeBron card like that, right now, that'd be worth the...
04:03When he was coming out of high school.
04:05Oh, yeah.
04:05So, yeah.
04:06Like, that'd be worth a lot of money.
04:07Now, he has the potential.
04:09I'm not saying he will be, because there's health and all these things.
04:11Yeah.
04:12But talent-wise, he's something we've never seen.
04:15What if he's better than LeBron and Jordan?
04:17What if he is the best player?
04:18What if he wins seven rings?
04:20Yeah.
04:20What if he gets more MVPs?
04:21Yeah.
04:21We see the size and all that stuff.
04:23So, it's a hedge bet.
04:24Right.
04:25Where, if he becomes better than Michael Jordan...
04:27It's a bet, nonetheless.
04:27It's a bet.
04:28Yeah.
04:28But if you're rich, if he becomes better than Jordan...
04:31Yeah.
04:32...then $500,000 could easily be $50 million, if he's better than Jordan.
04:37Yeah.
04:37I mean, if you say so...
04:39No, no.
04:39If he's better than Jordan...
04:40Like, what's the most expensive Jordan card?
04:43Or, like, a Game Worn Air Jordans?
04:45I don't think it's that much money, but I get the concept.
04:48I'm saying he's...
04:48I totally get the concept.
04:49Better than Jordan.
04:50It's like if you and I are sitting here 20 years from now, and there's no shot we are.
04:54No.
04:54But if you and I are sitting here 20 years from now, and Wampa Yama Mama is now in the
04:57conversation
04:58of the greatest player of all time, this one of one that sold for half a million bucks
05:03might be worth, you know, 10X, whatever it is, right?
05:05Now, there was an upper deck autograph logo man...
05:08Yeah.
05:09...that featured Kobe Bryant.
05:11Okay.
05:11...he passed away, unfortunately.
05:13So it became worth more, probably.
05:14$13 million.
05:15That's crazy money.
05:16And that's Kobe Bryant.
05:17So if you spent $500,000...
05:18What do I know?
05:19Now, and what if this crazy scenario...
05:20I'm not wishing it on him.
05:21Wimby gets his seventh title.
05:23Yeah.
05:24He retired.
05:25I get it.
05:26The card's worth more.
05:27He then flying back to France to celebrate the plane crashes.
05:30Oh, boy.
05:32That card's worth a lot more money.
05:33That card's worth a lot more money.
