00:00The United States women's hockey team completed their dominant run at the 2026 Olympic Games here
00:06in Milan, thanks to an electric move from Megan Keller in overtime that secured a 2-1 victory
00:11and the gold medal over Canada Thursday night at Santa Julia Arena. The Americans, though,
00:17were not so dominant for a majority of the game. They actually looked like a shell of the team we
00:21had watched through the first six games of the tournament, and it almost cost them. Kristen
00:26O'Neill scored a shorthanded goal for Canada in the second period to break open a 0-0 game
00:31and brought the Canadians just over two minutes away from claiming gold. But the great Hillary
00:37Knight was not prepared to end her decorated Olympic career that way, and so the USA captain
00:42tied it up on a tip of a Layla Edwards shot and forced overtime. Knight said she knew in that
00:48moment that they were going to win the game. It didn't sound like there was any doubt on the USA
00:53bench at any point tonight. They were in control for much of the three-on-three battle, and then
00:59Keller's golden goal was an absolute beauty, corralling the puck around a Canadian defenseman
01:05and putting it in on her backhand for her third goal of the Olympics and her ninth point, which
01:11tied her with Caroline Carvey for the tournament lead. It was just an electric atmosphere here from
01:17start to finish. If this is the end for Hillary Knight on the Olympic stage, what a way to go
01:22out. She sets the record for the most career goals and points by an American in the Olympics,
01:28gets a gold medal, and put a ring on her girlfriend's finger, American speed skater Brittany Bowe.
01:34Just an all-time ending for an all-time player. Follow for more Olympic coverage from Milan.
