00:00In a statement on Ash Wednesday, the Ministry of Culture and Community Development said communities across the country came alive
00:07through music, mass and cultural events over the past several weeks.
00:12The ministry highlighted panorama competitions as a major draw, with steel bands bringing supporters together and reaffirming the role of
00:20the national instrument at the centre of the festival.
00:23Organizers also pointed to the Flavor Food Village and the John Cupid Carnival Village as key spaces that supported performances,
00:31cuisine and traditional expressions of carnival.
00:35The minister described Carnival Monday and Tuesday as vibrant, with masqueraders filling the streets in large numbers.
00:41It commended barn leaders, service providers and members of the public for what it called their cooperation in maintaining an
00:49orderly celebration.
00:50The ministry acknowledged the contributions of cultural bodies, including Pantrenbago, TUCO, the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Bands Association and the
01:01Trinidad and Tobago Promoters Association for their roles in preserving the festival's traditions.
01:06The ministry further thanked security agencies, emergency services, regional corporations and other stakeholders for their support, including post-carnival cleanup
01:15efforts.
01:16Looking ahead, officials say, planning for Carnival 2027 is already underway as efforts continue to strengthen Carnival's position in both
01:26the cultural showcase and economic driver.
