00:30Smart Makeup Mirror, which also has a lovely ring light for doing your makeup.
00:34I'm with the founder and CEO of the company, Icon AI, James Shin, who's come here all the
00:41way from Seoul, South Korea.
00:42James, first off, just tell us about your company.
00:45Okay, Icon AI is a proprietary smart maker in Korea, and we have so many different features
00:53and functions in the smart mirrors.
00:55I want to introduce our smart mirror.
00:57Okay, fantastic.
00:58Well, I have agreed to do something you should never do on live television, a makeup mirror
01:04test, but I am going to do it.
01:05James, can you talk us through how this works, and Alice is going to film us.
01:09Okay, first off, you can check the skin analysis here, button here.
01:13You can change it just like that.
01:15You can start here.
01:16You can choose what is your skin type, and then just one.
01:22For example, and a wrinkle, and then aging, and then through the skull.
01:26That's not very fluttering, James.
01:28Yeah, that's right.
01:29And then you are the woman.
01:30You are just like starting something, and then you can take a photo here.
01:35Yeah.
01:35Okay, so here we go.
01:37Take the selfie.
01:37You can see the camera here.
01:40Just touch the screen.
01:42That's right.
01:43That's right.
01:44Yeah.
01:44Okay, so I have my eyes shut.
01:46But okay, at this point, we say check results.
01:48Now, this takes a little bit of time.
01:50It's going to do some analysis.
01:51We prepared one earlier.
01:53Yeah, so James, talk us through what we can see when we have our face analyzed.
01:56Yeah, this is AI algorithm-based skin analysis.
02:01You can see the many different information, the skin, just like that.
02:05The skin, and then sagging, and different.
02:07Many things, so many information.
02:10But however, you can see many...
02:13You've got a shiny nose.
02:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:15It's okay.
02:16Yeah, this is normal.
02:17Actually, two main points are very important for the skin analysis system.
02:21So you can see the kind of suggestion.
02:25You can see some kind of different, three different recommendation, product recommendation.
02:32After then, last one is skin analysis result.
02:36You can see what's going on your skin type.
02:39So daily, monthly, weekly.
02:43Okay, so if I take my selfie every single day, I can track it.
02:47And if I'm using my products, are they improving these?
02:50So these are obviously results from other people who've tested this.
02:54So yeah, huge amount of information here.
02:56And that feedback about whether the products are working.
02:59So this tells us about the kinds of partners you're looking for here at Viva Tech, right?
03:05Yeah, during the Viva Tech, we got so many attention from cosmetic brands, such as LVMH and then L'Oreal
03:12and Unilever.
03:14They're kind of a big brand who wants to collaborate with our company.
03:18So we are talking with them at this moment.
03:20Those are some huge companies, huge European companies as well.
03:25So the idea that Viva Tech is a bridge between Europe and the rest of the world.
03:30I did want to ask, you know, Seoul to Paris, it is a long way to come.
03:34Why was it important to you to come here to Viva Tech?
03:36Because European companies here, and we just only focus on B2B business, such as big companies, as LVMH and L
03:47'Oreal.
03:47They are looking for kind of this kind of business with good relations in the future.
03:52So that's why we are here.
03:54And we are looking for a kind of collaboration with them.
03:57And then I think this is a good opportunity with them.
04:01And your products, your other products in your range, have already won a whole bunch of awards, which we've got
04:06next to us here.
04:07The CES Innovation Awards.
04:08The Smart Makeup Mirror is your big star product of the moment.
04:13What sort of use is this product destined for?
04:17Is it for beauty salons or individual people?
04:21Or who would be buying and using this?
04:24Actually, you can use two kind of ways.
04:26The first one is beauty cosmetic brand, this retail store.
04:30And the other one is at home.
04:32So end user, I mean, a customer, consumer user, they can check the skin analysis by themselves.
04:40And then cosmetic brand, they can use the personalization, I mean, customization.
04:46This is very useful, I mean, segmentation, targeting for the cosmetic brands marketing as well.
04:52Here in Europe, South Korean beauty products do have a very good reputation.
04:58They're very fashionable at the moment.
05:01This is obviously a high-tech angle on it as well.
05:04Why do you think South Korea is so interesting at the moment in the beauty sector?
05:10Yeah, actually, K-beauty is very popular in all over the world.
05:14And then I think this kind of device is good for the global market, especially European countries.
05:20So that's why we're here.
05:22And then I think this is a very simple word.
05:26Beauty means AI.
05:29Artificial intelligence.
05:30Very simple.
05:30This is very popular in the future in Korea and European countries, all over the world.
05:37Hey, James Shin from Icon AI.
05:40Thank you so much for talking to us for telling me about how wrinkly my skin is.
05:44I'm going to take some notes from the analysis there.
05:47But, yeah, really interesting stuff.
05:49And loving seeing how these innovations are coming through in all different sectors
05:54and really changing our daily lives.
05:56Back to you.
05:57Thank you so much, Catherine.
05:59That was amazing.
05:59Thank you so much.
06:00We'll be right back.
