00:00I did have a dream last night, a sports dream, and it's one that's very bothersome to me because
00:06the far majority of my dreams and nightmares have actually come true.
00:10It's a weird thing in my life.
00:12And I had a dream about LeBron James last night.
00:15Oh, did you?
00:16Yeah.
00:17Well.
00:17And the dream goes like this.
00:18It's half-paced in reality, half-paced in just a dream sequence.
00:22So let me give you the reality part first, and then I'll tell you how it manifested itself
00:25into my sleep last night.
00:27So here's what's real.
00:28What's real is that LeBron James is a free agent after this season.
00:33Yes.
00:33He's currently making $52.5 million for this one season with L.A.
00:38It is also real that Ginny Buss came out and said, we'd love to talk to LeBron about coming
00:44back.
00:45And Dave McTeneman, whatever his name is, the NBA reporter, said that the Lakers actually
00:49would love to have LeBron come back for what most people think would then be his last year
00:54in the NBA.
00:56Dude has a Laker.
00:57Yes.
00:57Okay.
00:57And for, it appears, less money.
01:00Yeah.
01:01I think everyone's going to assume he'll make less than $52.6 million.
01:04Yeah.
01:04But you never know.
01:05Right?
01:06So that stuff is real.
01:08That stuff is documented.
01:10He is a free agent.
01:11Yep.
01:12The Lakers have, I guess, intimated or told people in his circles that if LeBron would
01:17consider coming back to L.A., they would certainly consider bringing him back for his final year
01:23in the NBA.
01:24Right.
01:24Fact, fact, fact.
01:25Right.
01:25And you think about it, you have to be box office at L.A. due to the competition for
01:29entertainment dollars.
01:30Sure.
01:30A LeBron retirement tour is box office.
01:33A LeBron farewell tour is big business for any team he plays for.
01:36And if I'm the Lakers, I can monetize the hell out of that.
01:39So even though he's, in my opinion, his skills have started to erode.
01:44They have.
01:45I want to monetize the final year of LeBron's career.
01:48So I totally get that.
01:50It makes sense on both sides.
01:51And frankly, unless you're chasing another championship, it makes sense for him to finish
01:56off what he started in L.A.
01:57Yeah.
01:58And why move?
01:58You move your family.
01:59He has a little daughter.
02:00You don't have to move.
02:01Yeah.
02:01Here comes the nightmare dream sequence for me.
02:04Okay.
02:05This is not based on reality at all.
02:06I want to be very clear about that.
02:08This was in a dream last night.
02:10Yeah.
02:10And yes, that means LeBron's living rent-free in my head.
02:12And I acknowledge that.
02:14Last night, he was.
02:16LeBron James says, hey, man, I'm a free agent.
02:19I'm going to chase a championship.
02:20That's what I do.
02:21Okay.
02:22Fact.
02:23Now come to my dream.
02:25The New York Knicks get close, but do not win an NBA championship this year.
02:32Eastern Conference Finals, maybe.
02:34Maybe they make it for the NBA Finals.
02:36And they lose to the Thunder or the Spurs or whomever.
02:39Okay.
02:39Okay.
02:40Very probable.
02:41Yeah.
02:41I think that's what most people think right now.
02:43Yeah.
02:43I think they're in the conversation, but it's not easy to win.
02:45Yeah.
02:45And they wouldn't be the best team either in the finals.
02:48I think the Thunder is the better team.
02:50Yes.
02:50Okay?
02:51Mm-hmm.
02:51Okay.
02:51LeBron James then sits down with Rich Paul and his team and Maverick Carter and the guys.
02:57Mm-hmm.
02:57And he goes, I got one year left.
03:00I'm getting the retirement tour.
03:01I don't care where I'm playing.
03:03What team is close to a championship where egotistically I can convince them and myself
03:10that if I join that team, keep the money to the side for a second, that I push that team
03:16over the edge and I can close out my career as a champion now with, I know you count the
03:23Laker championship.
03:23I don't.
03:24I can.
03:25So for him, a fourth championship, a fourth team, I should say, where I win a championship.
03:32I've got one in Cleveland.
03:33Mm-hmm.
03:33I've got a few down in Miami.
03:35I've got the fake one in LA.
03:37I can do something never been done before.
03:40I win a championship with a fourth NBA franchise.
03:44And here's the nightmare.
03:46And if he gets five, because it would count, he would tie Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson with
03:51five.
03:51Correct.
03:52So he'd only be trailing, I mean.
03:54Jordan, Russell.
03:55Russell, a handful of guys.
03:56And Ori.
03:57Right.
03:59And the nightmare is this.
04:01LeBron James calls up James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, and says, I will come play my
04:08final year of basketball for the New York Knicks.
04:11You wanted me 10 years ago.
04:13I wasn't ready to come to New York.
04:15You've got all the other pieces.
04:17I don't care about the money.
04:20I want my retirement tour to go through New York.
04:23New York, what do the Knicks say if LeBron James and Clutch makes that phone call?
04:31Yeah, I'll tell you what they do.
04:32They fly them out and sign them.
04:34And the other part you leave out, Leon Rose, the president of the Knicks.
04:38That's right.
04:38Was LeBron's agent for a long time, and he left because of his friendship.
04:42They're fine.
04:43As far as, uh.
04:44Now, let me tell you what I hope would happen.
04:46If LeBron James makes that phone call.
04:49You know what's going to happen.
04:49I would hope that my dear friend James Dolan hangs up on him.
04:53Yeah, he's not going to do that.
04:53And says, if you weren't good enough or willing to come play for the Knicks when you were still
05:00the best player in basketball, we don't want you at 42 years old.
05:05And that's how my nightmare became a dream sequence.
05:08LeBron James calls the Knicks, and the Knicks say, no, we don't want LeBron James.
05:14We wanted you a decade ago.
05:16We embarrassed ourselves trying to get you.
05:19But now the shoe's on the other foot.
05:21We don't want LeBron James.
05:23LeBron James rocking a New York Knicks jersey.
05:25But the nightmare is that LeBron makes that call, and the Knicks say yes.
05:31And then I'm in a bad spot as a diehard Knicks fan.
05:34You're in a good spot.
05:34I'm in a bad spot.
05:35He helps your team.
05:36Do I cheer for LeBron James?
05:38Yes.
05:39Yes, of course you do.
05:41You're a Knicks fan.
05:42No, no, no, no, no, no.
05:43Y'all don't get too prideful.
05:45You don't win enough to act this way.
05:47LeBron James is your fifth option?
05:49Are you kidding me what that could do for a team?
05:52Aọiid느.
05:52Let's do it.
