00:00Pebble Beach Pro-Am was last weekend, and you saw more of Cal after roughly 900 days without a win
00:05on the PGA Tour.
00:06Come away with a victory by shooting 22 under, and earned every bit of that as guys were gunning for
00:12him late,
00:12which included Scotty Scheffler shooting a 63 on a Sunday.
00:16No surprise there.
00:17But now we go over to the Genesis Invitational, which is going to take place this week.
00:21That's Tiger's event here.
00:22And Tiger has a press conference scheduled for 10.30 a.m. Pacific time, which is 1.30 p.m.
00:29Eastern time, Joe.
00:30I'm going to ask you first once again, what is Tiger Woods going to tell you today?
00:34Because somebody actually had a retweet or a response there.
00:38That's quite funny, Joe.
00:39I want your response first.
00:42Well, one can only assume, since this is his tournament, right, the Genesis Invitational here at Riviera,
00:50this is usually the spot where, all right, Tiger, how many events are you playing?
00:55How's the back?
00:56How's the knee?
00:57How's the leg?
00:58It's usually an update on Tiger's schedule for the year.
01:02And obviously, I think the only thing anybody ever cares about is, will he play at Augusta this year?
01:08And I think that's, for him to have this kind of announcement and set up,
01:12something tells me that it's going to be a positive for him to be in Augusta here next month.
01:18I got to tell you, this is a pretty good one here.
01:21So underneath it, this guy, Jim, retweet or responds back, quote, the back is coming along fine.
01:26I'm up to hitting five iron now.
01:28Not yet full drivers.
01:29Doing a lot of putting.
01:31Still a ways to go to be able to compete out here with these guys.
01:33So we'll see.
01:34And he quotes this.
01:35There you go.
01:36Now you don't have to listen.
01:36That sounds spot on because I feel we would have gotten the leak like, you need to be tuned in
01:43to this press conference here.
01:45Tiger's playing this week.
01:46Or Tiger's going to play two weeks before the Masters, engage how he feels before he plays the Masters.
01:53That's what I thought it would be.
01:54But it does sound like, hey, guys, feeling good.
01:56Back feels good.
01:57We'll see.
01:58That's what it feels like.
01:59And that's pretty much it, right?
02:01I mean, it's going to be, it's either going to be kick the can down the road where I'm trending
02:07in the right direction, but, you know, I'll know more next week or something along those lines here.
02:13But listen, it doesn't, if he plays at Augusta, the ratings will be through the roof.
02:19You know what I mean?
02:20He certainly, the broadcast will show nothing but Tiger Woods at nine over par.
02:26So, yeah, it's par for the course with him.
02:29Have a par for the course going out there.
02:31You're going to need to shoot way better than par to win this tournament here.
02:34But each and every week, it looks like the standard is always set with Scotty Scheffler.
02:39It's him and it's the rest of the field.
02:41And we're not talking about Scotty Scheffler's playing in a pro-am that nobody ever heard of where he's just
02:45paid the beather and there's not a lot of great superstars.
02:47Look at the names on this list.
02:50McElroy, Shelfley, Fleetwood, Matsuyama, Cantley.
02:53Legitimate golfers.
02:54He's plus 300.
02:56Well ahead of the rest of the field, Joe.
02:59Isn't it a terrible?
03:00I mean, I believe Aberg won this last year, the Genesis.
03:05But, yeah, it's this is the last of the West Coast, you know, swing.
03:11Then the next tournament, Donnie, will be here in my neck of the woods.
03:14That begins the Florida swing where they'll be here in Palm Beach.
03:18Then the Arnold Palmer and so on and so forth.
03:20So, this is this final one out West.
03:23And it would not shock me if Scotty actually, as long as he doesn't shoot 70-plus on the first
03:30day, he's likely winning a tournament.
03:33The Florida swing coming up shortly here but still on the West Coast, as Joe says here.
03:38And the funny part about this, too, is, like, you look at the top five odds.
03:41And it almost doesn't, like, even if Scheffler's, like, 10 shots back for some reason on Sunday, it feels like
03:47he just does start, like, I'm going to shoot a 62 and climb right back up and put pressure on
03:50the leaders here.
03:51Like, Scheffler, top five odds, which you know how hard it is to just finish in top fives here.
03:56He's minus 170.
03:58Like, you don't even get plus money on a top five, which shows how incredible where the expectations are, oh,
04:04Scheffler's in first place heading into Sunday.
04:06Yeah, all good with that.
04:07And he's also the king of Joe.
04:08I'm going to start slow.
04:10You think I'm out of it.
04:11Before you can blink on moving day, I'm back in the lead.
04:14Yeah.
04:15Well, I mean, that was just unbelievable.
04:17I mean, he was 75 to 1 heading into Sunday at Pebble Beach.
04:2375 to 1.
04:24I mean, he's back-to-back tournaments in which he started off his worst rounds in years on Thursday, only
04:33to come back and finish top three, top five in both tournaments.
04:36Unbelievable.
04:37But good luck, because if he actually shoots a pretty good under par number here at the Genesis on Thursday,
04:43you're not catching him on Sunday.
04:46Look, Scheffler shot 63 on Sunday.
04:48Like, yeah, yeah, that course was made for birdies here.
04:50Did you watch the competition that they were playing under at that point?
04:52Yeah.
04:53The flag was blowing sideways like it was going to bend on 18.
04:56And there was even a guy putting who had to take a delay because when he put his ball down,
05:00the ball was moving.
05:01He's like, yeah, no problem.
05:0263 in those conditions put pressure on there.
05:04It almost forced a playoff, which is how incredible that was.
05:07But if we do take a look at some of those markets that we actually like, you know, top 10,
05:10Scheffler minus 475, McElroy minus 115, that's all fine and good, Joe.
05:15But the markets where it's without Scheffler, like, remove the best guy from the planet from the equation.
05:20Now let's get down to business.
05:22Rory McElroy is actually the favorite at 10 to 1.
05:25Shawflay at 16 to 1, along with Tommy Fleetwood, who had a pretty good appearance there out there at Pebble
05:29as well.
05:30Yeah, and he loves those West Coast swings there, Fleetwood does.
05:34And he has actually been playing very, very well.
05:36But it's good to see Xander has actually been good.
05:39But Rory had a good Sunday, too, after having a terrible Saturday where I think he had three double bogeys
05:45and seven birdies.
05:47He was all over the map.
05:48But, listen, I think head-to-head markets are not a bad way to approach what's happening also in this
05:55because you can't bet Scheffler at 2-1, 3-1 pre-flop.
06:00You've got to hope he falls flat again on a Thursday, and then you can get him at a better
06:04price down the road.
06:05But I think there are some guys with some value here as long as they get off to a good
06:10start here on Thursday.
06:13By the way, again, that sweep coming back to the East Coast here, February 26, the Cognizant Classic.
06:18And the Palm Beaches, Joe, from Palm Beach Gardens, final by the Arnie.
06:22They always have that there in Orlando, the Puerto Rican Open, and then March 12th to March 15, the Players'
06:28Championship at Saltgrass,
06:30followed by the Valspar, the Texas Children's Open, the Valero.
06:33And we know it's always after the Valero, Joe.
06:36April 9th to 12th, the Masters Tournament.
06:38Previous winner, Rory McIlroy.
06:41We're not too far away, Joe.
06:43No, we are not.
06:45And I think that's exactly what you're going to hear from Tiger, is that, you know, trending in the right
06:51direction,
06:52but, you know, I'm going to get out there and we'll see that kind of situation here.
06:57So, should be a fun couple of months here now that golf is back in full swing.
07:03By the way, remember when everybody went to live and, oh, my God, you can't do that,
07:06and the PGA found hundreds of millions of dollars.
07:08Did you know that last weekend's tournament here, the Palm, not the Palm, excuse me,
07:11the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, $3.6 million to the winner.
07:16And that was Morikawa.
07:17Prices are up, baby.
07:18Win these tournaments.
07:19Cash in big.
07:20We'll be right back to close the showdown in Sky.
