00:01So, we had a subscriber write in and ask a question. And it sat me in my seat. They asked
00:10me,
00:11Doug, what if my doubt is bigger than my faith? And I've been thinking about this one. Let's walk
00:20gently into this one together. Because it's tender and real. And the honesty of the question
00:29already carries a kind of courage most people never touch. When someone says, what if my doubt
00:38is bigger than my faith? They're not confessing weakness. They're confessing their humanity.
00:47And humanity is the very soil God likes to plant miracles in. Here's the strange, beautiful truth.
00:57Doubt does not disqualify you from faith. It often becomes the very doorway into it.
01:07Think about it like this. A seed looks nothing like a tree. A seed feels small, fragile, and
01:16unimpressive. You can hold it between two fingers and barely notice its weight.
01:24But inside that seed is an entire future forest. In the same way, faith doesn't always look like
01:35certainty, confidence, or thunderous declarations. Sometimes, it looks like a shaky whisper. Sometimes,
01:45it looks like a question with tears behind it. And sometimes, it looks like a person who keeps walking
01:54even when their knees are trembling. So, what happens when doubt feels bigger than faith? Well,
02:04God does what he's always done throughout scripture. He works with what you bring, even when what you bring feels
02:14insufficient. I remember a time in scripture when a person came to Jesus and said, I believe. Help my unbelief.
02:26And Jesus didn't rebuke him for having a divided heart. He responded anyway. That prayer is still honored today.
02:38It's almost as if heaven is saying, bring me the part of you that trusts. Bring me the part of
02:46you that doesn't.
02:47I can carry both. Now, doubt is not the opposite of faith. Apathy is. Indifference is. Doubt still has its
03:02eyes
03:02pointed toward God, even if those eyes are squinting through confusion. Doubt means you care. Doubt means
03:13you're reaching. Doubt means something inside you wants to understand God more deeply. And wanting him,
03:23even through uncertainty, is a form of faith all by itself. Now, I want you to imagine a storm with
03:32me.
03:33Your doubt is the thunder, loud and unsettling. But your faith is the anchor buried deep into the seabed,
03:42holding even when the waves roar. You don't have to feel the anchor for it to be real. You don't
03:51have to see the seabed
03:53for it to hold. Its power isn't dependent on your perception. It's dependent on its nature.
04:04And God's nature doesn't change when your emotions do. Here's the truth that will breathe peace into your chest.
04:14God never asked you to have big faith. He asked you to have faith the size of a mustard seed.
04:23Why?
04:23Because mustard seed faith is still faith. Because small things still move the heart of heaven.
04:33Because God knows that the smallest ember can become a flame when his breath touches it.
04:41If your doubt feels huge, it only means you're standing in a moment of potential transformation.
04:49God often allows these seasons so that he can become more real to you than he ever has been before.
04:59Faith that has never wrestled doubt is untested. Faith that has stood toe to toe with fear?
05:07Well, that's foundational. It's unshakable. That's the kind of faith that storms learn to respect.
05:17So, what do you do when doubt screams louder than belief?
05:22Well, first, tell the truth. God isn't threatened by honesty.
05:30Bring him your questions, no matter what they are.
05:34Bring him your frustrations, no matter what they are.
05:39Bring him the nights you wanted to give up.
05:42He has handled storms bigger than yours since the dawn of time.
05:49Second, stay close.
05:52Don't run from God because doubt is loud.
05:55Run toward him.
05:58Doubt grows in isolation.
06:01It shrinks in the presence of God.
06:04Sometimes, you don't overcome doubt by arguing with it.
06:10You overcome it by outlasting it.
06:13By staying in the room.
06:16By letting your heart be warmed again by the one who refuses to let go.
06:23And third, remember who carries who.
06:28Faith isn't you holding on to God with white knuckles.
06:32Faith is discovering that God has been holding you the whole time.
06:38You don't have to muscle your way through this.
06:42Grace is not a gym membership where your strength gets you results.
06:49Grace is a rescue mission where his strength pulls you out of waters that have overwhelmed you.
06:56And lastly, my friends, look at your track record, not your perfection, not your performance.
07:06Look at how many days you woke up and kept going.
07:11Look at how many storms you thought would break you, but somehow, some way, you are still here.
07:19If doubt were truly bigger than your faith, you wouldn't have made it this far.
07:25Your survival is your evidence.
07:29And your endurance?
07:31Well, that's your testimony.
07:35So, my friend, if your doubt feels heavier than your belief, let this settle deep into you.
07:44God is not measuring the size of your faith.
07:49He's measuring the direction of your heart.
07:52And your heart is already pointed toward him.
08:21God bless you, my friends.
08:25Bye-bye.
08:26Bye-bye.
