00:00Check in with Rochelle for more tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thanks, Deesha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. It is now time for your weather.
00:08Here's what's happening tonight. Tonight, expect generally fair and hazy conditions
00:13with minimum temperatures at 23 degrees in both islands. And on Carnival Friday,
00:19the Met Office is forecasting fair, hazy and at times breezy conditions. Apart from
00:25isolated mild to moderate showers favoring the early to mid-morning period. Something else that
00:33will be mild to moderate is the presence of Saharan dust, which is expected to persist over the next
00:3948 to 72 hours. Persons sensitive to dust should take the necessary precautions. Maximum temperatures
00:47will come in at 31.5 degrees in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago. Now for the children,
00:53jumping out on Saturday for Kitty's Carnival, I have good news for you. Brief pre-dawn showers
01:00will give way to a mostly fair, hazy and breezy day. So nice weather to jump around in. And
01:06parents, remember to put sunscreen on the kitties. Maximum temperatures are expected at 31 degrees
01:12in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago. And on Sunday, no need to worry. The mascara is safe
01:19as well. With a generally fair and hazy day expected, temperatures this time will get up to 32 degrees
01:25in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago. Let's check in on our sun times now. In Trinidad, sun rises at 626
01:33and 624
01:34in Tobago. And the sun will set at 613 in Trinidad and 609 over in Tobago. Now, now that the
01:42hazardous
01:43seas alert has been discontinued, I'm sure some of you are eager to just relax on the beach where
01:49seas will be moderate with waves 1.5 to 2 meters in open waters and less than 1 meter in
01:56sheltered areas.
02:08In some international news, at least 35 people have died after a powerful cyclone struck Madagascar.
02:16Cyclone Ghazani made landfall on Tuesday, battering the island's main port city, Tomasina. Madagascar's
02:24disaster management office described the aftermath as total chaos, reporting that homes collapsed in
02:31the hardest hit areas where many of the victims were found. Entire neighborhoods were plunged into
02:37darkness as power lines were torn down, trees uprooted and roofs ripped from buildings. As many
02:44as 250,000 people have been affected or displaced by the storm. That's very unfortunate news.
02:52Well, I can't end my forecast on a sad note, so in some more international news, here's how this
02:59American is finding his way around the slippery snow.
03:21Well, that's all for weather tonight. Don't go just yet because there's more news when we come back.
