00:00The original DeLorean was only produced between 1981 and 1983. Volumes have been written on its
00:14sad history, from its unreliable engines to the bust of its visionary inventor, John DeLorean,
00:20who was arrested and tried in 1982 for trafficking cocaine as a way to finance his car company. But
00:26the DeLorean transcended its flaws after appearing as a time machine in the 1985 hit Back to the Future.
00:36John DeLorean was a pioneer in this field and unfortunately he wasn't successful with it,
00:41but he did come up with a design that even 40 years later looks futuristic.
00:46It's still sexy. Yeah. In terms of why I wanted to get the DeLorean,
00:50as opposed to other cars, I'm a kid of the 80s. But even before the movie came out,
00:54I was introduced to a DeLorean from my dad and loved it. And I kind of got my engineering
01:01senses from him. I just want a piece of the 80s in my garage to kind of bring me back to my childhood.
01:07The idea was funded by AAA because they wanted a car that was easy to repair,
01:11didn't rust, didn't need paint. I think it failed on all points.
01:15I've wanted to convert a DeLorean for years. And I've got some ideas how to make this one fly.
