00:02The solar park in the Tenga Desert in China.
00:05It is to become the largest in the world and will one day be able to supply more than 2
00:10million households with electricity.
00:15The port in Aalborg, Denmark.
00:17Blades for the offshore wind farms in the North Sea are being loaded.
00:21They are among the longest in the world.
00:27For me, the blade is beautiful. It's a symbol of green energy.
00:47The world is currently undergoing the greatest transformation since industrialization more than 150 years ago.
00:54In order to win the race against climate change, fossil fuels need to be replaced worldwide by renewable ones.
01:02But is that even technologically possible?
01:05And if so, what else needs to happen for this change to be a success?
01:13In the past, people typically assume going cleaner or greener in terms of your technology or economy is going to
01:23cost you more.
01:25It's no longer the case.
01:26When I began my work in solar energy, the world had less than one megawatt total across the entire world
01:36of solar power.
01:38In China as elsewhere, renewable energy is becoming lower cost solution than fossil fuel.
01:46We now have, as of last summer, more than one terawatt electric power generated by photovoltaics.
01:54So, a million fold growth.
01:56It's been a forty year, still worth it…
01:58It's been a long, big, big, big, big organisations.
02:00It's been a long and easy for me to make this change.
02:00Now, what can I do?
