00:00In 2026, there's a new spotlight on the role of companies that provide services to Trinidad and Tobago's energy sector.
00:08So I am Chris Hussain. I am a sales application and marketing engineer at Control Technologies Limited.
00:14And well, of course, CTL has been in existence for actually we are about to celebrate our 28th year as a service provider within,
00:23or I would even say now a player within this industry, the energy industry.
00:27An industry in which large multinational oil and gas exploration companies operating in Trinidad and Tobago depend on local service companies.
00:37I think, you know, you're really as good as your service provider, you know.
00:42The heartbeat of your engineering outcome that you're trying to achieve is really the service or the contract that will be issued to the competent persons or personnel.
00:53And so that is something that we value a lot.
00:55TV6 News spoke with the marketing application engineer at the 2026 Energy Conference at the Hart Regency in Port of Spain.
01:03The theme of the conference was building collaboration for a sustainable energy future.
01:08I'll even tell you about our ABB line with our drives.
01:13ABB offers up drives that would have energy consumption savings up to 80% actually.
01:19And so that's very good when we're looking at reducing our carbon footprint, acknowledging that we exist in a very fossil fuel industry still.
01:29Of course, we want to lower that as we transition to renewables, which is a transition.
01:34And of course, we are also looking at how you can save on the electric bill.
01:38So those are things that we also consider in our suppliers and agency agreements.
01:43On its website, the company states it was founded in Port of Spain, Trinidad, in June 1998.
01:50We consider ourselves to be a 360 engineering company, meaning that as soon as we get the purchase order,
01:57we can be able to provide you with everything that will allow you to turn that key on that particular project.
02:04CTL says that in the 2000s, it brought companies like WASA and NGC into a new era of control systems.
02:12Outside of the oil and gas and petrochemical and even power sector, we exist also in the food and beverage.
02:19And notably, we are not only present in Trinidad and Tobago, we have control technologies also at Guyana, Barbados and also in Jamaica.
02:27One of the new things that we would have added to Control Technologies Limited over the years is our construction sector.
02:34And so now we're also getting into the civil engineering side of things.
02:39This is taking place at a time when the world continues to look at diversifying its energy dependence from oil and natural gas.
