Energy Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal says he intends to meet with the Trinidad and Tobago Aggregate Producers Alliance, after the organisation initiated a shutdown of its operations, in the face of longstanding regulatory issues. Rynessa Cutting has more.

00:00Energy Minister Rudal Monilal says he intends to meet with the Trinidad and Tobago Aggregate Producers Alliance
00:07following a briefing with ministry officials scheduled for early next week.
00:12However, in a release, the ministry contradicts claims made by the group,
00:16namely that no company or individual has been able to successfully secure a processing license for minerals in this country.
00:24The ministry is labeling the claims as false and says that over the past few years,
00:30it has granted numerous process mineral licenses to various companies.
00:35The ministry explains that between 2014 to present,
00:38it has been actively collaborating with operators and applicants within the mining sector
00:43to facilitate the renewal of licenses, process new license applications,
00:49and to address any concerns regarding licensing procedures.
00:53The ministry adds that it has hosted several full-day open-out sessions,
00:58allowing operators and applicants the opportunity to engage with key ministries and agencies
01:03from which approvals and documents are required,
01:07with the last two sessions being held on Wednesday, 29 October and Thursday, 30 October.
01:14The ministry says it is currently conducting due diligence
01:17to determine the bona fide members of the organization,
01:21calling itself the TNT Aggregate Producers Alliance,
01:25as it is not yet aware of the establishment or familiar with the work of this organization.
