00:00Hey Naturally Curly World, I'm Grace and welcome to Watch and Go, the show where we do our hair while we tell you what movies we watched.
00:06Today I'm going to be reviewing Ingrid Goes West, which is a fairly new movie that just came out in theaters.
00:12A perfect day for a perfect wedding.
00:17Hashtag perfect.
00:20Happy to be sharing this day with all my favorite humans.
00:23Hashtag blessed.
00:26Is this real?
00:27Hashtag no filter.
00:30A perfect day for a perfect wedding.
00:32Yep, that's how we roll.
00:38Before I start reviewing it, I'm going to go shampoo and condition my hair with this new brand that I'm trying called Many Ethnicities, Invigorating Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner.
00:50So I'll be right back.
00:51I put some of this Diva Curl Believe In Miracle Curl Plumper in my soaking wet hair, probably about a quarter size amount.
01:02And now my hair is still pretty wet, very wet, so I'm going to put this Diva Curl Frizz Free Volumizing Foam in my hair and scrunch with a microfiber towel.
01:13While I tell you about Ingrid Goes West, the reason I wanted to see it is because I love Aubrey Plaza, who plays the main character in it.
01:21A lot of people compare me to April Ludgate from Parks and Rec, which I think is a pretty accurate comparison.
01:28I don't hate quite as many things as her, but it comes close, you know.
01:31So I feel like I have a kinship with her of like dry humor and like side eyes.
01:36So I was like, let me go see this.
01:38Let me support her.
01:39It's more of like an indie movie.
01:40So I was like, they probably need the views, the ticket sales.
01:46So she's in it and Elizabeth Olsen is in it.
01:50O'Shea Jackson is in it.
01:52He's so cute.
01:53I didn't even know about him, but now I'm a huge fan.
01:56He was great in this movie.
01:57So basically, the movie starts off with Aubrey Plaza and she has been stalking this chick on social media and the chick is getting married.
02:09So she runs into this girl's wedding and like screams at her and is like, how could you not invite me to this wedding?
02:16Blah, blah, blah, blah.
02:18And basically has to go to rehab because she has a problem.
02:22She is basically addicted to social media and can't stop stalking people.
02:31This girl's on her phone like 24 hours a day.
02:35And it kind of scares me because it reminded me of me when I was watching some of this.
02:40I was like, oh my God, I do that.
02:41Like, am I the only person who watches videos while I'm sitting on the toilet?
02:46I don't think so.
02:47And she did that and I was like, oh my God, maybe I have a problem.
02:50So she starts stalking Elizabeth Olsen, moves to Venice, California, where Elizabeth Olsen and her husband live.
03:00O'Shea Jackson is her landlord.
03:03So she's like his neighbor and she's paying him rent.
03:07And so she goes and steals Elizabeth Olsen's dog just so that when they put out a flyer about the dog,
03:17she has a reason to call and be like, hey, I found your dog.
03:21And then from there, she like forces her way into a friendship with this chick.
03:27And this, Elizabeth Olsen's character is kind of social media famous.
03:31She has like 200,000 followers.
03:33So she's like all about sharing her life.
03:37And Ingrid, Aubrey Plaza's character, is like so obsessed with her.
03:41Ingrid has a problem to the point where she like starts taking advantage of O'Shea Jackson's niceness
03:49and like steals his, or takes his truck and then like doesn't return it when he needs it to be returned.
03:55So she can hang out with Elizabeth Olsen and like everything just escalates basically.
04:02She starts being creepier and creepier.
04:04So basically what she wants is just like this girl who she found on social media to be her best friend
04:12and only pay attention to her all the time.
04:15I won't tell you the ending, but it was a pretty dramatic ending.
04:18And it's sad from like both points of view because she has a, like it's clear that she's not just like some random person
04:26liking too many things and being creepy.
04:28Like she has a compulsive obsession with people.
04:33She like fully transforms herself.
04:35She dyes her hair blonde to look like Elizabeth Olsen.
04:38She changes her whole style.
04:39She'll like go through every photo and see like where she is and go to that place and like eat what she ate.
04:47And then she'll see like something that she bought and then she'll go and like buy that exact thing
04:52so that she can have, she can be as close to that person's lifestyle as possible.
04:58O'Shea Jackson was like honestly the saving grace of that movie.
05:01And he's the most caring person.
05:03Like when Ingrid doesn't return to his car, he calls the police not because of the car,
05:07but because he's worried about Ingrid.
05:09And I was like the whole movie, I was like, she does not deserve him.
05:14Where is he?
05:15Like let me, I will be good to you.
05:17I'll return your truck on time.
05:19Oh, so frustrating.
05:22But anyways, he's like the reason she made it through the movie.
05:27So I guess it's fine.
05:28I guess it's only a movie.
05:30I guess I should stop freaking out.
05:31I have been scrunching this whole time.
05:33As you saw, I learned a new scrunching method.
05:36For those of you who are interested, what you do is you scrunch up.
05:40And then instead of going down and scrunching back up, you scrunch in place because it lessens
05:48the frizz.
05:49Instead of going like that, if you just scrunch in place, it gets more of the moisture out
05:53and less frizz.
05:54You're welcome.
05:54So now I'm going to clip my roots.
05:56Okay, so I clipped my roots up.
05:58I let my hair air dry for about an hour.
06:00And now I'm just going to diffuse the rest of it to get it all the way dry.
06:04For those of you who are asking, this is called a diva fuser.
06:07It's real.
06:08It's not something we added in post.
06:09Somebody in the comments said that.
06:11No, it's real.
06:15Okay, so I just finished diffusing my hair.
06:17I'm really liking the results I got this time.
06:20Some nice defined waves, you know.
06:23I'm going to give Ingrid Goes West three and a half stars out of five.
06:26It was entertaining.
06:28Not the best movie I've ever seen.
06:30But definitely an interesting look at how social media can affect our lives.
06:34You should go watch it whenever it comes out on Netflix or wherever it decides to come out.
06:39Have you seen Ingrid Goes West?
