The state opposition has promised seven million dollars to upgrade a maternity ward in Murray Bridge, which locals say is desperately in need of expansion. The election announcement was made in a potentially vulnerable Liberal seat and came as Labor talked up its efforts to save disability employment provider Bedford from financial collapse.

00:47Murray Bridge is within the regional electorate of Hammond which has been held by Liberal MP Adrian Pedrick since 2006.
