00:00Obviously racism is shocking in any form.
00:03I think the thing about this report that is most concerning
00:06is your point about transparency.
00:09I've had four children, three different maternity hospitals,
00:13and it's an incredibly intense moment in your life.
00:17It can be distressing for parents,
00:19and they want to know, at all times you want to know what's happening.
00:23And the idea that you'd have parents who have a particularly traumatic experience
00:26and then aren't told the truth about it,
00:28I think that is totally unacceptable.
00:30I think one shouldn't be political about a report like this.
00:32Obviously it's going to be debated.
00:34There has to be full accountability.
00:37When the full report comes out, I'm confident that my colleagues,
00:40Stuart Andrew, who is the Shadow Health Secretary, will respond in full.
00:44It's concerning to hear, and I think rather than trying to blame each other,
00:49probably the important thing is to actually study it and learn the lessons from it
00:52because, as I say, for parents who suffer in these situations,
00:56it's pretty traumatic, and if they aren't told the full facts,
00:59that is something actually that the NHS Trust needs to be held to account for,
01:03and I think that should be where the focus is.
