00:00I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
00:07Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions.
00:14Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet.
00:17Therefore, O people of faith, send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah with complete submission.
00:22My dear believing brothers and sisters, one of the stars shining in the sky of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
00:30God willing, today we will try to turn the pages of the life story of our master Suheyb bin Rumi, may Allah be pleased with him.
00:36God willing, my brothers and sisters, we will strive to put into action, into practice, what we have learned from his life.
00:46Because why do we learn what we know?
00:50We learn not just to gain information, to become knowledgeable, or to increase our thoughts and opinions, but so that we can apply what we learn to our lives, right?
01:00Therefore, in the esteemed companions of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there are so many beautiful examples and illustrations for us.
01:07May God grant us all the ability and opportunity to be among the believers who take their lives as an example.
01:13My dear brothers, our master Suheyb ibn Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him) was born in Mosul, Iraq, in the year 586 AD.
01:23He and his father were Arabs, and his real name was Umayr.
01:28My brothers, their father was the governor of Mosul in Iraq under the Sasanian Empire, and later the Romans launched an attack there, and a war ensued between the Sasanians and the Romans.
01:42The Romans came and killed the father of our master Suheyb ibn Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him), and they took Suheyb ibn Rumi and his sister Umama as slaves when they were 5 years old.
01:54Look, my dear brothers, later Suheyb ibn Rumi remained a prisoner in the hands of the Romans for 10 or 15 years.
02:03Later, after being sold as a slave from market to market, he was sold as a slave by the Romans to one of the Meccan polytheists known to all of us as Abdullah bin Juda in Mecca, my brothers.
02:16Who was this Abdullah bin Juda?
02:18Our Prophet Imam Halis (peace and blessings be upon him) said that if the people of Mecca were to invite him to the same gathering now, he would still go, and that he would attend the assembly known as the Society of Virtuous Ones, which was established by the polytheists in Mecca to defend the rights of the oppressed against the oppressors.
02:37Abdullah ibn Juda was the leader of the council called Hilf al-Fudul.
02:42My brothers, our master Suhayb ibn Rumi, may Allah be pleased with him, was originally named Umayr, but the Romans called him Suhayb ibn Rumi, may Allah be pleased with him, because he had a slightly reddish complexion.
02:56They gave him the name Suheyb, meaning "reddish face," and thus Suheyb ibn Rumi was brought to Mecca with his reddish face and sold to a merchant, someone like Abdullah ibn Juda.
03:11Abdullah ibn Judas understood and appreciated the intelligence and business acumen of Suhayb ibn Rumi, and began to entrust him with his business dealings.
03:24My brother Suheyb ibn Rumi understood trade so well that he made an agreement with Abdullah ibn Juda regarding his freedom in exchange for payment.
03:34And after paying Abdullah bin Juda the ransom for his freedom, he was set free.
03:41But Abdullah ibn Juda was such a clever polytheist that he said, "O Suhayb, let's establish a firm, a company, a holding company, and let's both be partners in this holding company, my brothers."
03:54And so much so that Abdullah ibn Juda, together with Suhayb, established one of the largest holdings in Mecca, and my brothers engaged in very large-scale trade.
04:05Allahu Akbar.
04:06My brothers and sisters, in what we have discussed so far, there are such important lessons and such valuable advice that we should learn. Our first lesson is this:
04:19When a calamity befalls us, when we face hardship, for example, when someone sells us as slaves, or before selling us as slaves, when our country, our homeland, our home is attacked,
04:33When war breaks out, sometimes we have to say it's God's will. Someone might invade our country, and perhaps as a result of that invasion, God has prepared paths to guidance for us.
04:46You know how some people are saying today, "Why did Hamas attack Israel? They caused the deaths of 60,000 or 70,000 people," speaking so thoughtlessly and without foresight?
04:58No, no, my brothers, perhaps Allah Almighty is preparing the world into a beautiful paradise for the sake of those tiny hearts that died in Gaza, for the sake of the mujahideen of the Qassam Brigades who were killed there. Perhaps that's what we should be looking at.
05:16Therefore, when a calamity befalls us, instead of immediately asking "Where did this calamity come from?", we should look to see if God will bring forth light from this darkness, if He will bring forth a dawn from this darkness.
05:32Here is Suhayb ibn Rumi, my dear brothers, look, he came to Mecca and Allah prepared the paths of guidance for him.
05:41How did he prepare? He fell into slavery; if he hadn't been sold as a slave, perhaps he wouldn't have come to Mecca and wouldn't have met our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
05:50Sometimes your siblings throw you into a well, don't be upset.
05:54Even if your brothers in that well throw you in, Allah will send you brothers who will pull you out of the well.
06:02It is true that your brothers will have you thrown into prisons, but do not grieve. For Allah is preparing for you palaces behind those prisons, and He will send you help from a place you do not know.
06:16He will grant you the wisdom to fulfill a king's dream and will make you the Sultan of Egypt.
06:22Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, when calamities befall us, and perhaps not calamities that would make us slaves, but other calamities, let us not immediately raise our sails.
06:35Let's not lose hope in God right away.
06:39If someone leaves you, don't be sad; God may send you something better in return.
06:44If you divorced your spouse and they blamed you or mistreated you before leaving, don't be upset.
06:51By God, in place of Zuleikha whom He took from you, He may bring you women like Khadija, or perhaps women like Aisha.
07:00Therefore, my believing brothers, my dear brothers, if Suheyb bin Rumi had been one of those who lost hope in Allah Almighty, if he had lost all hope in Allah Almighty,
07:11If I had been sold as a slave, if I had been someone who had become disillusioned with life, if I had thought that I was being used like a serf by a man, what wouldn't I have done to have the honor of meeting our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?
07:26It wasn't going to happen.
07:27My brothers and sisters, when our Lord explains to us about some things that we have experienced as evil or as hardship, in His book, in verse 216 of Surah Al-Baqarah, He says:
07:41He advises us, "O My servants, perhaps Allah will bring forth good from what you consider evil, and perhaps Allah will bring forth evil from what you consider good."
07:56Then, my dear brothers and sisters, let us never forget that no matter what kind of troubles befall us, as long as we persevere, as long as we are patient like Joseph in the wells, God will not abandon us.
08:09Even if we are thrown into dungeons, as long as we persevere and remain like Joseph, God will never abandon us.
08:17Even if we fall, we will get up again.
08:20Our morale and motivation have been broken. To regain our morale and motivation, and to find new friendships, new companionship, and even new excitements, we will strive with the zeal of Islam, and may Allah help us.
08:35May God make us rulers of Egypt, just as He made Joseph.
08:39My dear brothers and sisters, the greatest reason for the calamities befalling our nation right now is our lack of trust in God, our losing hope in God, our abandoning our expectations of God.
08:51If we lose hope in God, if we give up all hope in God, will God help this nation?
08:57Will my dear brothers and sisters ever bring this nation back to its glorious and honorable days?
09:02Therefore, we will not lose hope in God, we will not lose hope in God.
09:07Look, my dear brothers and sisters, there was a man in Istanbul, he's been married for 10 years, and for 10 years, God hadn't blessed either of them with children, even though they had no faults whatsoever.
09:22So, there was no problem with the monument, there was no problem with the wife, but they just couldn't have children.
09:27You know how sometimes we imagine that when two biological, healthy people come together, they will have a child?
09:35No, no, nothing becomes a man or a woman, even if it's biologically healthy, without God's command, my brothers and sisters.
09:44And for 10 years they had no children, they went to every doctor imaginable, tried every religious treatment imaginable, but they never gave up.
09:52They went all the way without saying things like, "God has spared us the child, so there's no need for us to worry about this."
10:01And consider, my dear brothers and sisters, that after ten years, Allah Almighty bestowed upon them a child.
10:08And when the lady went to the doctor, the doctor said to them, "Your child will be spastic, if you don't want your child to be disabled, you can have an abortion," and without a moment's hesitation they said...
10:23No, this is a blessing from God, no, this is a gift from God," they said in response, and my dear brothers and sisters, after 10 years, with a bittersweet joy, took their children, born with a deformed pyramid, into their arms.
10:42Allahu Akbar! What a trial, what hope amidst such sorrow! They remained unwavering, believing that this child was a trust from God, and my Lord, three months passed, and that child passed away of his own accord, my dear brothers and sisters.
10:59And as we said, in recognition of their patience and their hope in God amidst those dark times, God, perhaps to prove to their families, relatives, and all their fellow believers that He would not abandon their school, blessed them with 300 children, like precious babies, perhaps nine months later.
11:20Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar! What did we ask from Allah that He did not give us, my brothers and sisters? What wish did we make to Allah that He did not grant us?
11:29Whatever dish you asked your mother for, she didn't make it for you.
11:33No matter how much money you asked your father for, he didn't sacrifice his life for you, he didn't sacrifice his sweat and blood for you.
11:38My brothers and sisters, if the believers, who are sincere in their prayers to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, who placed this love, this affection, this compassion in their hearts, are not helped by Allah, will He not help them?
11:52Allahu Akbar, therefore my dear brothers and sisters will put aside these evils and these sufferings.
11:59Let us put on our hats and engage in an effort, a struggle, to try and fill our bags with hope.
12:06Now, my dear brothers and sisters, what is the second lesson we need to learn here?
12:10Firstly, we will be a nation of hope.
12:12So what was the greatest lesson we could learn from Suhayb ibn Rumi?
12:16Although he was a slave, God prepared for him such an end that his slavery brought him the honor of believing in Muhammad (peace be upon him).
12:24Allahu Akbar.
12:25The second lesson we can learn is also from an idolater like Abdullah bin Juda.
12:30What is that?
12:31Abdullah ibn Juda understood that a man like Suhayb ibn Rumi was a merchant, that he had business acumen.
12:40So, by directing competent people towards that direction, they've become owners of large holdings and large companies.
12:48Allahu Akbar.
12:49So, my brothers, what is it that we need to be told or understood here?
12:55We will not waste anything.
12:56And unfortunately, the greatest waste on Earth is not water waste, not bread waste, not food waste.
13:04The greatest waste currently taking place on Earth is the waste of human beings, my brothers and sisters, whom Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, sent to this world as honored creatures.
13:16The child will not become a hafiz (someone who has memorized the entire Quran).
13:18Isn't it a waste of a child's potential, my dear brothers and sisters, when parents send their child, who isn't inclined towards memorizing the Quran, to a Quran memorization course just to pursue a career and have relatives who are called "Quran memorizers"?
13:33Allahu Akbar.
13:34Or, my brothers, isn't it a waste of a professor's talent to ask him history-related questions about a professor who doesn't understand the Independence Courts or the War of Independence?
13:46Aren't we actually experiencing this right now?
13:49Isn't the corruption of religions today due to the fact that we go to a man who doesn't understand hadith, and perhaps doesn't understand tafsir (Quranic exegesis), and ask him about hadith?
13:57Isn't it a waste, my brothers, that this society goes to people who don't understand interpretation and say "the Quran is enough for us" and asks them questions about the Quran? Because in doing so, they both waste the energy of the person on the other end and corrupt the religion and beliefs of the people in this society.
14:14Allahu Akbar. I say to a brother, my dear brother, don't go up to the pulpit, don't preach to people, you don't have that ability, you offend people, you get very angry, you don't approach people's hearts gently.
14:31When we say that he unfortunately speaks in a way that hurts people's feelings when they don't listen to him during the invitation, he immediately says,
14:42He's saying, "Brother, are you trying to withdraw me from the invitation, or are you trying to put me back?"
14:47No, no, my intention wasn't to discourage you from the invitation, but to prevent the waste of talent.
14:53Because of your bad manners, or rather, because people who witness your unpleasant manners have unfortunately become disillusioned with Islam,
15:01I am giving you this sermon because I fear you will waste them as well.
15:06Allahu Akbar.
15:08Allahu Akbar.
15:08Therefore, my brothers and sisters, perhaps the greatest waste happening in this country, or even in the world, right now is the waste of human life.
15:16So, when you don't use a person properly and appropriately, you are unfortunately wasting that person, my brothers and sisters.
15:26Therefore, when we go to the hereafter, Allah Almighty will not only ask us, as a society, why we wasted water.
15:33Or he won't ask why we waste food, you're trying to glean something from this kid's caliber.
15:41Or perhaps you were trying to advertise.
15:44But God will hold us accountable, my brothers and sisters, for wasting this child by leading him towards a nature that I did not create him with, even though I did not create him with this nature.
15:55So, what should we do with the natural order that God created? We need to protect it.
16:00Look, my dear brothers and sisters, right now there's an exam called LGS, isn't there?
16:06The children are now 13-14 years old.
16:09These children have entered adolescence.
16:11These kids' mustaches are just starting to grow now.
16:14These kids have started growing beards.
16:17Or perhaps the girls' body shapes have started to become a little more defined.
16:21While you should be providing these children with a biological education, helping them navigate adolescence more easily, what else are you doing to them?
16:34It's like you're putting everyone in a horse race, and then you're subjecting children to this ridiculous LGS exam, completely ruining their psychology.
16:43Therefore, my brothers and sisters, the beings most wasted by Pharaonic systems, that is, systems that do not heed God's commands, are human beings.
16:54But in Islamic civilization, in the law of God and in the methodology shown by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), people are guided according to their innate nature.
17:06Imagine a forest; in that forest, Islam does not impose a duty on anyone that is not their responsibility.
17:15Or, as the saying goes, "In this forest, you can't expect any fish to fly or any bird to swim," Islam, in this forest, certainly doesn't expect even a fish to fly.
17:29He never expects a bird to swim either.
17:32But my brothers and sisters, that's not the case today, is it?
17:34They don't do that today.
17:35For example, in this country, before July 15th, one of the greatest harms inflicted by this community, which we could call our brothers Güren, was not just destroying religion or striking a blow against Islam, but also extravagance.
17:52It was a waste of human life.
17:54The man became an engineer; maybe he has the mindset to produce an atomic bomb right here.
17:58They made the guy a teacher and sent him to Somalia, right?
18:01In other words, they experienced a brain drain.
18:03In this country, people, perhaps deliberately or intentionally, took men who might have the capacity to go to space, under the guise of a cause, Islam, or religious scholars, and sent them to an unknown country in North Africa. What is this, my brothers and sisters?
18:20They sent it.
18:21Therefore, may Allah grant us all the ability and opportunity to be among the believers who guide our children, even our spouses, and even our siblings and relatives, according to the natural disposition of Allah.
18:36Look, my dear brothers and sisters, the year 611 arrived and the gates of heaven were opened to our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
18:44When revelation came to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he began to explain this message.
18:51He had explained it in such and such an association, in such and such a foundation, but he had seen one center where our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would gather his companions in the house of Arqam ibn Arqam, may Allah be pleased with him, and explain the newly revealed verses to them.
19:06And so, upon hearing this invitation from our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Suheyb ibn Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him) went straight to the house of Arqam ibn Arqam.
19:18Allahu Akbar. When my brothers arrived at Erkam's house, they knocked on the door, and someone appeared at the door.
19:24Who was he? Our master Ammar ibn Yasir, may Allah be pleased with him.
19:28Ammar said, "Suheyb said, 'What are you doing here?'" Allahu Akbar.
19:34"What are you doing here?" he asked. Suheyb replied, "Whatever Ammar is doing here, I've come here for the same reason." Allahu Akbar.
19:43So, my dear brothers and sisters, what was Ammar doing there?
19:46He had a reason, a concern, to come and learn about religion from our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
19:54"That's your problem," he says, "and that's my problem too."
19:56But my dear brothers and sisters, let us ask ourselves a question.
20:00For example, why are we here right now?
20:03For example, are we here for the same reason that Professor Ahmet is doing?
20:06Or are there, my brothers and sisters, some people filling the associations and foundations today saying, "So-and-so scholar's concern there is the pleasure of God, but I'm in such-and-such association so that my friends see me doing business with him?"
20:20Do you think those who are wondering if they can win a contract there can possess the courage that Suheyb possessed, my brothers?
20:29In a social setting, a gathering, maybe they'll give me a position in such-and-such an association,
20:37Brothers, can someone who comes here thinking they can use that position to gain political power understand the heart of Suheyb?
20:45I'll pay a small membership fee to such-and-such an association; that way I'll get my money's worth.
20:51Can someone who pays dues to an association or foundation, thinking they can get their way there, understand the heart of my dear brother Süheyb?
21:01Allahu Akbar!
21:02So when we go somewhere, why are we there?
21:06Why are we there?
21:08Why are we together with our brothers and sisters with whom we conduct Islamic studies or da'wah (invitation to Islam)?
21:14Are we together because we have some kind of mutual benefit or interest?
21:20Or are we together so that God may be pleased with us? What should we do to achieve this?
21:26We need to think about this, my brothers.
21:27Look, that's what our master Muaz bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) says.
21:31He says, "Come, O believers, let us have one hour of faith."
21:35Let us have faith for one hour.
21:37They came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said:
21:39O Messenger of Allah, even though we have faith, Muaz comes every week and asks us to come and gather together.
21:45When he said, "He's telling us this so we'll believe for an hour,"
21:49Our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says, my brothers:
21:52"By God," says Muaz, "I invite you to gatherings that God loves."
21:58Allahu Akbar.
22:00Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, the reason we are gathered here is this:
22:04We should be here because these are gatherings that God loves.
22:09So let's think about it: when we are in a certain place, why are we there?
22:13When we become friends with someone, why are we friends with them?
22:16If we are in a community, an association, or a foundation, why are we in that association?
22:21Why are we in that foundation and not another association or foundation? What should we do about these things?
22:27We need to think about it.
22:28And never forget, my brothers and sisters.
22:30What did Suheyb say?
22:31"Hey Ammar," he said.
22:33I'm here for the same reason you are here.
22:36So what does this mean?
22:37Suheyb told us 14 centuries ago that
22:40O believers, O my Muslim brothers, I swear by Allah, by Tallahi, that birds of the same kind fly together.
22:48Birds of the same species fly together.
22:51So, my brothers are saying that a man whose business is driven by self-interest and a man whose business is to please God should not be in the same picture, in the same association, or in the same foundation.
23:01My brothers, 14 centuries ago, he told us that a man who uses the name of Islam to get close to a political figure in some place cannot be in the same place as a man who glorifies the name of Allah to enter paradise; that birds of the same kind fly together, but birds of different kinds never fly together.
23:25He came there, believed in the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and then he said, "My brothers, you are someone who has no family, no mother or father here, please, when you go outside, don't shout 'La ilahe illallah' (There is no god but Allah), meaning don't say 'Let Allah's will be done in this world'."
23:46Otherwise, those who worship this Menata, this Lata, this space, this democracy, this secularism, this Kemalism, those who believe in it, will beat you up here, they will kick and punch you, my brothers said.
24:02But faith is not like that, my brothers. Perhaps we don't understand it because, after a sermon, we don't show the same excitement to share what we've heard with our wives or children when we get home.
24:16Faith was a source of excitement for them, my brothers and sisters.
24:19It was an excitement that couldn't be contained, and Suheyb went out into the streets of Mecca and said, "Shame on your Latism, shame on your Menad, shame on your secularism, shame on your democracy, shame on your Kemalism!"
24:41My brothers, he said that the only one who rules over God's world is God Himself, and that there is no other authority that makes laws or enacts regulations besides Him. And they came and beat him so badly that he was covered in blood. And that wasn't enough for these Meccan polytheists; in their wickedness, they took hot iron rods and thrust them into his body, my brothers.
25:06Have you ever been slapped or punched for explaining God's religion?
25:11Have you ever been scolded by your boss for stirring up trouble here just because you were talking about God's religion, my brothers?
25:18Have you ever been slapped by anyone for supporting God's religion, my dear brothers and sisters?
25:24If we haven't experienced the "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great) phenomenon, then understanding Suheyb becomes a little more difficult.
25:30While covered in blood from what he had eaten, he only managed to say "La ilahe illallah" (There is no god but Allah) and nothing else.
25:38Why? Because, my dear brothers and sisters, it is a verse from Allah for the Companions, a hadith they learned from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
25:49Honestly, this information was far more important, far more valuable, than the information that Mossad, the FBI, or the CIA had, my brothers.
26:00What are Mossad, the FBI, and the CIA doing?
26:03These are intelligence forces.
26:04These people, in whatever situation arises regarding the security of their country, provide the confidential information they receive to the security forces.
26:13Similarly, Suheyb also conveyed this knowledge from God through this verse to the armed devil, the head of the hell organization, and his henchmen, so that people would not be deceived.
26:25My brothers were serving it to people immediately so they wouldn't go to hell.
26:30But let me ask you, my brothers, is the knowledge of a verse from God more valuable in your lives than the information in the hands of Mossad?
26:39How can God's verses be valuable if you don't convey them to the people around you?
26:46Or, if you want a life lesson you learned from our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to be more valuable than the information in the hands of the FBI...
26:56So, my dear brothers and sisters, please try to make an effort to convey to others, wherever you are, a saying you heard from the Messenger of Allah.
27:08May God fill us all with excitement.
27:10May Allah grant us, my brothers, the same fervor that Suheyb felt in today's world of democrats, and may He allow us to confront their polytheism and disbelief, just as Suheyb did 14 centuries ago.
27:25May God grant us all the strength and ability to be believers with the courage of a mujahid (fighter for the faith) who can strike today without fear, without bending, without breaking, and without being swayed.
27:37My brothers, listen, our master Suheyb ibn Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates a hadith.
27:43Scholars say that the reason Suhayb narrated this hadith is because the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Suhayl here, so Suhayb ibn Rumi narrated this hadith.
27:54Allahu Akbar! Look, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says in this hadith that Allah Almighty, as you know, in Surah Al-Buruz, refers to the People of the Trench, who were killed because they believed in Allah, and the king there said, "You did not believe in me, you believed in Allah."
28:15Our scholars have said that they later recounted the event by lighting fires in those trenches and throwing people into those fires.
28:22Look, our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says that once upon a time there was a king, and this king had a sorcerer.
28:29When this magician grew old, he wanted to hire an assistant.
28:33Later, he took a young man on as his assistant.
28:37This young man, while visiting the king's magician every day, met a priest.
28:43Who was that priest?
28:44The monotheist Muslim was a priest who believed in the oneness of God.
28:49He met her.
28:50He later learned about monotheism from this priest.
28:54Then, when the king heard that this young man had learned monotheism from this priest, he summoned him.
29:00He asked, "Who is in control of the world?"
29:04He asked, "Who is God in this world?"
29:06The young man said, "By God, there is no god in this world except the Lord of all creation."
29:12Then this king said, if you do not acknowledge that I am a god...
29:17So he said, if you don't accept my laws, my rules, my authority, my dominion over people, then I will kill you.
29:26Allahu Akbar.
29:26Nowadays, some people are saying that the sermons you deliver don't preach the religion imposed by the state.
29:34Some people say, "If you try to explain God's religion, we'll demote you."
29:39They say, "He tries to explain God's religion."
29:42If you preachers and imams, if you pronounce these things in your sermons, we will exile you.
29:48Or, some people say, "We'll dismiss you from your job, cut your salary, etc., because you acted against Law No. 657."
29:57That's what some people were saying that day.
29:59What did he say?
30:00He said, "I'll kill you."
30:02And this young man, who believed that only God could harm him and that no one else could, said:
30:13"If you want to kill me, go ahead and kill me," he said.
30:16Allahu Akbar.
30:17"Go ahead and kill me," he said.
30:19My brothers and sisters, how much we need young people like this, imams like this, preachers like this, speakers like this!
30:28Not the kind of person who immediately bows their head when someone points a finger at them.
30:32He's not the type to immediately back down when faced with a salary threat.
30:36How much we need preachers and scholars right now who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of God's religion if necessary!
30:49And without fear, bravely, he said, "Go ahead and kill me."
30:53The king said, "Take this and throw it off a cliff."
30:57They took him to throw him off a cliff, but even though they threw him, the young man didn't die; he came back to life.
31:02Of course, the public knows this too.
31:03Then he said, "Take him and try to drown him in the sea."
31:07They took him to the sea.
31:08Those soldiers he took to the sea drowned.
31:10That young man survived without drowning again.
31:13Then the king said, "How shall I kill you?" and the young man said, "Shall I tell you the formula for killing me?"
31:21He said you should gather the people in a flat area.
31:24You will create a platform.
31:26You're going to get me onto that platform.
31:28Everyone will see me.
31:30You too will take up your bow and arrow.
31:32Then you will put the arrow on the bow and say, "Pulling the arrow, in the name of this young man's Lord, I shoot this arrow," and when the arrow hits me, I will die.
31:43Allahu Akbar.
31:44And the king gathered the people.
31:46He took the bow and arrow, and after drawing the arrow, he said, "I shoot this in the name of the Lord."
31:52And the arrow struck the young man in the forehead, and my brothers, the young man was martyred there, and when everyone saw that he was martyred, they said, "Ah, so if the king were a god, a lord, this young man would have died when he was thrown off the cliff, and he would have even died when they drowned him."
32:09Therefore, this man cannot be a king, a god, or even God.
32:13"The true God and Lord is this young man's Lord," they said, and my brothers immediately believed.
32:19Everyone there says he embraced Islam.
32:21The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Because of that young man's sincerity, all the people believed."
32:27Allahu Akbar.
32:28Let the imams in this country show this sincerity.
32:32By God, Allah will bring an Islamic state to this region, my brothers.
32:37Even the most renowned historian says, my brothers...
32:40"Honestly," says the Directorate of Religious Affairs, "if a circular is issued..."
32:43He says, "From now on, all mosque imams will wear crosses around their necks while leading prayers."
32:49Ninety-five percent of imams in this country wear a cross around their necks while leading prayers so as not to lose their salaries.
32:56Would God have mercy on such a society?
32:59Would God help such a society, my dear brothers and sisters?
33:02It's a matter of choice.
33:04You threw yourself into death, and all the people there believed.
33:09Hamas threw itself into a death trap.
33:11Gaza has thrown itself into a death trap.
33:12And the earth received faith from there.
33:15Hasn't faith been pumped from Gaza to the world, my brothers and sisters?
33:19Didn't even we ask ourselves, "What is Islam?" my brothers?
33:22Haven't we even criticized ourselves?
33:24Therefore, sometimes dying is a far greater example than staying alive.
33:31Sometimes, taking risks is far more honorable than peacefully resting your head on your pillow and sleeping soundly, my brothers.
33:39May Allah grant us all the grace to be among those believers who demonstrate such sincerity.
33:44Look, my dear brothers and sisters, our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrated this event.
33:50Then he said, "Do you know who my companions are?"
33:55So, who said those young men over there, my brothers?
33:59He said, "My people," he said, "the people of the trenches," meaning my people from Mecca, my people from Medina,
34:06My brothers, the companions of my Arab people who fought in the trenches are like Suhayl ibn Rumi.
34:11Then he said it was Salman bin Farisi.
34:14Then Ammar ibn Yasir said...
34:16Then my brothers said, "It is Habbab bin Eret."
34:18Allahu Akbar.
34:20How pleased our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was with this young man!
34:24My brothers, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) likened Suhayl ibn Rumi to that young man who risked death for proclaiming the truth.
34:35Let me ask you.
34:37As Turkish Muslims of this era, which of us is the Companions of the Trench of this age, my brothers?
34:42Can a believer who, at the slightest threat of rent increase, goes and borrows interest from banks that have declared war on Allah and His Messenger, be considered a true follower of the Prophet in this era, my brothers?
34:54Allahu Akbar.
34:56Or perhaps, less than three or five months later, he and his wife established a home together, by the command of God and the word of the Prophet.
35:04Can someone who, purely out of selfish desires, carries out a divorce that Allah disapproves of, be considered a true follower of the Ditch in this era, my brothers?
35:15Or, just think about it, my brothers.
35:17Can someone who constantly practices dissimulation, constantly tells lies in the political arena, and constantly deceives people, be the companion of the Prophet in this era, my brothers?
35:28Can someone who, in his sermons, doesn't speak of God's religion but reads instructions from Ankara, be considered a modern-day Companion of the Prophet, my dear brothers and sisters?
35:39Allahu Akbar! Or, just imagine, my dear brothers and sisters, being like the Companions of the Trench means being able to stand before a tyrannical sultan or ruler of this era without fear or bowing down, and to confront him with the injustice he has committed.
35:58Can a scholar, imam, administrator, or academician holding a position of authority who doesn't utter a single word, not even a single letter, to the tyrannical rulers above, for fear of losing their career or their position, be considered the most virtuous and upright person of this era?
36:17Of course not, my brothers.
36:19So who are the Companions of the Trench of this era, my brothers?
36:21By God, these are the people of the trench of our time, the people of this small ghetto, the people of the trench of the world, my brothers and sisters in Gaza.
36:31Isn't the people of Gaza a good example?
36:33Let them come with whatever comes to them, with their tanks, their cannons, their drones.
36:39Isn't Hamas, who are saying "Here we are!", the modern-day Companions of the Trench?
36:43Isn't the Taliban, who said, "Hey America, if you want to take the airport you desire from me, come and take it if you're man enough," the modern-day companions of the Ditch, my brothers?
36:54Or will the companions of this era build a mosque for 200,000 people in such and such a place, which we call the "companions of the trench"?
37:02After mentioning how virtuous it is to be in a state of ritual purity (having performed ablution),
37:06Do you think, my brothers, that these are rulers who violate the Book of Allah while having performed ablution?
37:13Until yesterday, he claimed to be working for the Muslim community and the nation,
37:20then turned westward and said, "America is my best friend."
37:26Do you think these are the companions of the Prophet from the trenches of this era, my brothers?
37:30Allahu Akbar.
37:32Therefore, this is the group of people of this era that our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke of.
37:38Perhaps today my brothers are Hamas, a handful of mujahideen, or the Taliban, a handful of fearless heroes.
37:46May God be eternally pleased with them.
37:49They are the pride of this nation, they are the honor and dignity of this nation, my brothers.
37:54So, what should we, the companions of the Prophet in this era, do with them?
37:59We should wholeheartedly congratulate them and perhaps stand before them with respect.
38:05May Allah be eternally pleased with them and grant us their faith and enthusiasm, Insha'Allah.
38:12Look, my dear brothers and sisters,
38:13Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not actually intend to migrate only with Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).
38:21There was another one in his notebook.
38:23Maybe we don't know that.
38:25The second person listed as his left hand in his notebook was Suheyb ibn Rumi.
38:29The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only told these two.
38:32Abu Bakr and Suhayb said so.
38:33"Get ready, you are my companions on the migration," he said.
38:36Allahu Akbar.
38:37With so many companions present, why did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) place Abu Bakr to his right and Suhayb at the end?
38:45This is the greatest proof of the value that our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed on Suheyb, my brothers.
38:52But strangely enough, Suheyb ibn Rumi was unfortunately unable to migrate with our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
38:58The polytheists from Mecca came and surrounded his house, and because they had surrounded it, he couldn't go outside.
39:06And then, in order to get out, he pulled a trick on them.
39:11He said, "Let me go outside, let me go in, let me go to the toilet, let me come out."
39:14Perhaps they will think I have been expelled and leave, and I will catch up with our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him," he said.
39:22Of course, their toilets are outside that day, Serdar abi.
39:25Since we all need to use the toilet inside right now, we don't really have a reason to go outside.
39:29I imagine if it had been us, they would have turned our house into a procession.
39:35So we wouldn't devise a plan like, "Let me go outside to the toilet, play a game, and then catch up with our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him."
39:41We used to say, "Go lie down."
39:43God has already made you take responsibility for this.
39:46Because they've already turned the area around the house into a procession.
39:49Honestly, perhaps some of us would even rejoice, thinking, "Who's going to go on a migration now?"
39:53Isn't that what we do?
39:56So, for example, if a chat day is canceled because it snows, would my brothers and sisters be sad or happy?
40:04Tell me, for God's sake.
40:06If we are upset when the chat is cancelled that day
40:09Honestly, my brothers, we've become the modern-day Suayb (a reference to a famous Turkish TV series).
40:13But hurray, I didn't want to go anyway, it's a good excuse!
40:17I didn't want to go anyway.
40:18Now that a guest has arrived, let us, my brothers and sisters, ask ourselves, our own souls, our own hearts, our inner worlds, as I do.
40:25If we are happy, it means we have managed to become the Sueybi of this era.
40:29Could we? Would we, my brothers and sisters, be able to?
40:31We probably can't, right?
40:33So what should we do about our intentions then?
40:36Let's keep it safe.
40:37Then the polytheists went outside and said, "He has caught a diarrheal disease."
40:42A man suffering from diarrhea like that would not migrate from Mecca to Medina.
40:45Then they dispersed.
40:46But as soon as my brothers Shu'ayb saw them dispersing, he immediately followed after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
40:53What kind of love is this?
40:55What kind of conversation is this?
40:56What kind of love is this?
40:57Have you ever had a friend who loved you like this, my brothers and sisters?
41:00It was those who loved our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) like this who gave him that strength, my brothers and sisters.
41:05If you want to be strong, you need people around you who love you like that.
41:10If you have people who love you like this by your side, you can rule the world, my brothers and sisters.
41:15Allahu Akbar – that's the strength he drew from his companions who loved him so much.
41:21May God be eternally pleased with them.
41:23But my brother Suheyb has already set out on his journey.
41:25Then the polytheists from Mecca arrived.
41:28They cornered him somewhere.
41:29Then Suheyb called out.
41:31He said, "O Meccan polytheists, you know that I am a very skilled sniper."
41:35I'm very good at using binoculars to hunt people, and I'm also skilled at archery.
41:42You know what I'm going to do if I start shooting the arrows in my quiver at you right now.
41:48Once my reading is finished, I am a man who uses a good sword, and I will fight you with my sword.
41:53And when he said to them, "I will take some of you with me," they replied:
41:59Suheyb then said, "Let's do it this way."
42:01You were a poor man, a slave, when you came to our society in Mecca.
42:05Now you own a holding company.
42:07"If you leave the keys of the holding company with us, we'll let you go," he said.
42:11Allahu Akbar.
42:12My brothers, listen now, he said "okay" in order to catch up with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
42:17The keys to the holding company are yours.
42:20Take the money, keep everything you have, I've hidden the keys in such-and-such a valley.
42:25"Go and get him from there," said these polytheists, my brothers, and they left Suheyb ibn Rumi alone.
42:31Allahu Akbar.
42:32What kind of job is this?
42:34What kind of faith is this?
42:36Look, because of this faith, Allah Almighty mentioned Suheyb in Surah Al-Baqarah...
42:41My brothers, they revealed verse 207!
42:45So, if a verse were to come today, Yusuf abi...
42:48If this verse were relevant to us, how would God address us, professor?
42:52You don't do your job properly.
42:54You lie.
42:55You engage in gossip.
42:57Was he going to send it because he thought you would be committing blasphemy?
42:59Or was he going to send it the same way he sent it to Suheyb, my brothers?
43:03Look, Allah Almighty says:
43:05Our Lord said this about Suheyb.
43:08There are some people, says Allah Almighty.
43:11They sacrifice themselves for God.
43:15"How merciful God is to them," he said.
43:17Allahu Akbar.
43:19Then this verse about Suhayb was revealed.
43:22When Suhayb and Abu Bakr met our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Quba...
43:25The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Abu Bakr, go and congratulate Suhayb."
43:29Do you know what your friends, siblings, and family are saying to congratulate you?
43:34Congratulations on receiving a good diploma.
43:38He congratulates you when you have a child.
43:40Especially if it's a man, oh wow.
43:42Why are you congratulating your wife?
43:43You're congratulating me because she gave birth to a baby boy, right?
43:45But look, do you know how the companions of the Prophet congratulated each other?
43:52He was congratulating me because God had sent down a verse about me.
43:56Allahu Akbar.
43:57And these verses may be relevant to us today as well.
44:00If we sacrifice ourselves to God
44:01So, these verses were sent by God and are relevant to us as well, Ali Hüsman abi, right?
44:05And my brothers, our master, peace and blessings be upon him...
44:10After congratulating Suheyb, like Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)
44:14See, Suheyb said he didn't give up.
44:18Why hasn't he given up?
44:19He hasn't given up on this.
44:21Abu Bakr said, "Why didn't you wait for me?"
44:25"Why didn't you wait for me?" he asked.
44:27Brothers and sisters, there are very subtle details here.
44:30Firstly, here our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
44:34Suheyb said, "You've done a very good job of trading."
44:38So, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) introduced us to what trade is.
44:42The real trade is when a merchant buys a commodity at a price with very little discount.
44:46It wasn't about selling it at exorbitant prices, my brothers.
44:49What was the real trade?
44:51To sacrifice one's possessions for the sake of Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is that right?
44:56Unfortunately, in today's modern secular world, concepts have changed.
45:01When we hear the word "trade," other things come to mind.
45:04Einstein was asked, "If you could reformat humanity, what would you do?"
45:10Einstein said he would change people's concepts.
45:14Allahu Akbar.
45:16Didn't God change people's understanding of things through the verses He sent down during the Meccan period as well?
45:20My brothers and sisters, hasn't our Lord tried to define what worship is and what God is?
45:26Consider, for example, Sayyid Qutb, may Allah have mercy on him.
45:29Fiyizil Ali had already started the second volume of his Quran writing.
45:33Then he tells the story himself.
45:34He says that while he was in prison, he came across a thin book.
45:38It had four terms attributed to Maududi written on it.
45:40Concepts of God, Lord, worship, and religion.
45:43"Honestly," he says, "after reading this book, I immediately started rewriting its commentary."
45:48Because why?
45:49Mawdudi corrected my misconception about the concept of God.
45:53The reason humanity finds itself in this dire situation right now is because our concepts have changed, my brothers and sisters.
46:00If we were to ask a person who fears God and believes in the Prophet today what motherhood is, what would their answer be?
46:07He replies, "It is an institution where paradise will be laid at your feet."
46:11But what would a girl who has received a modern, secular, Kemalist education say if you asked her that?
46:16Doesn't he say, my brothers, that it's an institution of slavery where a woman gives birth to three children and becomes a serf to a man?
46:22From where?
46:22Because isn't it this society, this secular education, that thoroughly distorts the concept of that poor girl, that little child, my brothers and sisters?
46:29Allahu Akbar.
46:31If we were to ask a sane believer today what martyrdom is, what would they say?
46:36Only those who are killed in the cause of God, so that His religion may prevail on earth, will be called martyrs.
46:42But when you ask someone who has a good grasp of concepts, they'll call them martyrs of democracy, martyrs of the homeland, martyrs of the media, and some even call them martyrs of nightclubs, right, my brothers and sisters?
46:55From where?
46:55They stole our concepts from us.
46:57So, what did our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do to us again by teaching us what true trade is, even though it's one of those concepts that is often misunderstood?
47:06He reminded us of it through Suheyb.
47:09My brothers Rumi, the greatest merchant, Suheyb.
47:13It wasn't about having a lot of wealth or owning many holdings.
47:15Let's also record somewhere that whoever fears God in order to please Him, and with whom God is pleased, has made the greatest trade.
47:27And what did he say last?
47:30Suhayb said, "Abu Bakr, why didn't you wait for me?"
47:33Look at these brothers and sisters!
47:35He didn't make a suspicion.
47:37He didn't harbor any anxieties about whether this person had incited the Prophet, said something to the Prophet, or set out on a journey without him.
47:48He asked, "Why did you do that? Why did you behave like that?"
47:51She didn't leave in anger.
47:53"Why did you do that?" my siblings asked.
47:55What has he done with that right?
47:56He gave it to his brother.
47:57Abu Bakr said, "Suhayb, what a fine man you are! May God forgive you."
48:03We waited for you, and waited, and waited.
48:06But after deciding that he wouldn't come, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Let's not delay, Abu Bakr, let's set out."
48:13That's why we didn't wait for you, Suheyb," he said.
48:15Allahu Akbar.
48:16We need to find friends like these, my brothers.
48:19When an incident occurs, they are not the ones who make assumptions about us, nor the ones who carry out summary executions against us.
48:25They will come to us and ask, manfully, like a true gentleman, why we did this.
48:31Let's try to find friends.
48:33I pray that God will grant us such friends, that He will bestow such friendships upon us, God willing.
48:38My brothers and sisters, may God grant us wisdom in our minds, discernment in our eyes, and love in our hearts.
48:46All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
