Based on Forest Task Force Report, Prabowo Revokes Permits of 28 Environmentally Damaging Companies in Sumatra | Tirto Recap

President Prabowo Subianto has revoked the operational permits of 28 companies proven to have committed environmental violations across three provinces in Sumatra. The decision follows the investigation results from the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH).

"Based on the report, the president decided to revoke the permits of 28 companies proven to have committed violations," stated the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Office on Tuesday, January 20.

Prasetyo explained that the permit revocations were based on the Satgas PKH report, which expedited audits in the Sumatra region following a flash flood in 2025. The investigation found indications of environmental violations by several companies.

These companies consist of 22 Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) covering 1,010,592 hectares, and six companies in the mining, plantation, and Timber Forest Product Utilization Business Permit (PBPHHK) sectors," he stated.

Furthermore, Prasetyo added that over the course of one year of duty, the Satgas PKH has reclaimed 4.09 million hectares of oil palm plantations located within forest areas.

"From that total area, approximately 900,000 hectares have been restored as conservation forests, including 81,793 hectares located in the Tesso Nilo National Park area, Riau," said Prasetyo.
