The search for 18-year-old hiker Syafiq Ridhan Ali Razan ended tragically. Missing for over two weeks, he was found dead on the southern slopes of Mount Slamet on Wednesday (Jan 14, 2026).

He was discovered around 10:49 AM local time in the area between the Gunung Malang and Baturraden trails—a location on the mountain's southern peak known for its steep terrain and dense vegetation.

The search operation spanned over 16 days and involved a joint SAR team with numerous volunteers. From the first day, intensive efforts covered various hiking paths and suspected last-known locations.

Several outdoor communities and organizations participated, including Wanadri, Mayapada, UPL MPA Unsoed, Wikupala, APGI, Mapala Batik, Mapala Kanpas, and Comunitas Rapi. This cross-organizational collaboration was crucial for navigating the difficult terrain.
