00:00Iconic big bear bald eagles Jackie and Shadow have welcomed their first eggs of the year.
00:06Now the egg watch begins.
00:08Eagle eggs usually hatch in about 35 days, but Jackie and Shadow's eggs tend to take
00:13just a little longer, closer to 38 or 39 days.
00:16Once hatched, it can take 10 to 14 weeks for the eagles to grow nearly 3 feet tall and
00:22prepare for flight.
00:24Nesting season for bald eagles runs from January through April.
00:27Jackie and Shadow successfully raised eaglets in 2019 and 2022, but the following years
00:33came without hatchlings.
00:35Then came a happy turnaround in 2025 where they welcomed sisters Sonny and Gizmo, who
00:40took their first flights last June.
00:42This eagle family became world famous thanks to the Friends of the Big Bear Valley's YouTube
00:47live stream camera, giving thousands of viewers a front row seat to their nest in the San Bernardino
00:52National Forest.
00:53So stay tuned, Big Bear's most beloved couple may soon be welcoming another new edition.
