The full UK collection will be displayed outside London for the first time, commemorating hundreds of lives lost to HIV and AIDS.

00:00The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt is set to go on display in Wakefield later this year.
00:0642 quilts and 23 individual panels representing about 385 people who died
00:13from HIV and AIDS will be shown at Wakefield Exchange. The council says it
00:18will be the first full display outside of London. The free exhibition will run
00:23from June the 3rd to June the 7th with readings of names, talks and workshops.
00:28A documentary film about the quilt's history will also be shown. The project
00:33began in the United States in 1985 as a community response to loss. Activist
00:39Cleve Jones wanted to commemorate friends, family and loved ones lost to AIDS.
