00:00Let's flip things over to the NFC between the Rams and the Seahawks.
00:03Of course, the Seahawks coming away with another win over the Rams,
00:07another high-scoring game, Joe.
00:09You know, really, at the end of the day, as you alluded to in the opening segment,
00:13Sam Darnold quieting the critics, going for a fantastic game.
00:17They had the balance between the passing and the rushing.
00:20Obviously, we saw the Rams punch back with their own effort,
00:23with Matt Stafford doing his normal thing at 374 and three touchdowns.
00:28But just from a top-down perspective,
00:30what were your immediate takeaways from this game?
00:33Well, again, I just believe that Seattle was the more physical football team.
00:37And I'll just throw this out there.
00:39You know, in the middle part of the season,
00:42the mantra and the hype surrounding the L.A. Rams was that
00:46not only did they have an elite offense with Matt Stafford,
00:51they had one of the top defenses in the NFC.
00:53And I think they've been completely exposed now
00:56in the back end of the season.
00:58Their secondary has gotten abused by multiple teams,
01:01including the win that they got over Detroit.
01:04I think that really started that defense taking a turn for the worse.
01:08And they were exposed by Sam Darnold in Seattle.
01:11And when you had the success early on in the first quarter of Kenneth Walker,
01:15he was ripping off 10 and 15-yard runs.
01:18That really set the mindset for Seattle.
01:21But, again, when you look at the game play out, and, you know, Tom Brady,
01:25he was double-talking yesterday.
01:27I love Tom Brady with the seven Super Bowls.
01:30But when Stafford and the team had the football, okay, up 13 to 10,
01:34with about a minute 40 left and timeouts in their back pocket
01:37on their own 30-yard line,
01:39he was saying you don't get aggressive until the 50-yard line.
01:42That's completely false.
01:44When you have a trigger man like Matt Stafford,
01:46you weren't up 14 or 17 points in the first half.
01:50You were only up three.
01:52You gave the football with short to intermediate throws.
01:55They went to the flat.
01:56That was not the way to attack Seattle at that particular time.
02:00That's where they were playing.
02:01They didn't attack the seam to get aggressive.
02:04And they gave Sam Darnold the football back,
02:06and he made him pay with the touchdown for JSN,
02:09which really switched the momentum.
02:11That was on McVeigh.
02:13That was on the coaching staff.
02:14And I'll just say this, a testament to Mike McDonald,
02:17I didn't think he'd be this good with this team,
02:20but he's got a quarterback that potentially could just erase
02:24all the negativity with a Super Bowl win,
02:26and they stepped up against the home win against the Rams.
02:31Certainly a great performance from Seattle.
02:34As they push towards the Super Bowl,
02:36we, of course, break down all the options that they have in offense.
02:39But when it comes to the Rams specifically, Joe,
02:41you know, I think they could quote-unquote run it back next year
02:45with the offense at least, but the defense to me needs the most work.
02:49Also, with an aging Devontae,
02:51I think they need another option in the passing game.
02:53Do you think that the defense and at least a secondary or tertiary option
02:57should be their main focus in the offseason?
03:00Yeah, I mean, they're set at running back, right,
03:02with Blake Horman, Kyron Williams.
03:04They have basically four tight ends, including Davis Allen,
03:07and they're all young for the most part.
03:10Yeah, they need a slot-wide receiver that potentially could take the top.
03:15That's a burner.
03:16I'm not talking about just a guy that runs a 4'6
03:19and a possession type of receiver.
03:21I am talking about elite speed, like Shahid, but better, right?
03:25They don't utilize Shahid enough.
03:27He got 51 yards in that win against the Rams,
03:30but a guy that can burn, maybe go a Jeremiah Smith.
03:34You want to take Jeremiah Smith?
03:35If he's available in the draft, everybody's hyping up Cornell Tate.
03:39If Smith is there, it would be a perfect option to go,
03:42obviously, with Puka.
03:43That's what they need in that offense.
