00:00I was the head of a secondary school for a long time.
00:02We dealt with a lot of things that were on the outside that came in,
00:05but nothing on the scale that social media is now bringing in, bullying.
00:09I don't believe children need access to phones before the age of 16.
00:13I don't believe they need access to social media before 16.
00:17I do have concerns about them being on social media,
00:20but if you ban something, they'll find ways of getting on it.
00:25And I think that will be even worse
00:26because it'll be like the dark side of the web they'll be looking at.
00:30Instead of what's easily accessible.
00:32I don't believe before the age of 16 you need social media.

00:43and to be around people and learn how to be social.
00:46Lots of things that aren't really for under 16s,
00:49probably not for under 18s, some of them.
00:51So I have to say I'm in favour of it.
00:54It's very hard for parents to police everything the children do all the time.
00:57It's even harder for schools to do it.
01:00I think it's very hard for parents to do it.
