Council and police have restated the law on private and rental e-scooters as enforcement continues across the city.

00:06and penalty points. The council and police say privately owned e-scooters must only be
00:11used on private land with permission. They cannot be ridden on roads, pavements, cycle
00:16lanes or parks. Officials say only government-approved rental schemes may operate on public roads
00:23and cycle lanes. Illegal use can lead to fines of up to £300, police seizure and licence
00:29points. Councillor Dan Barrington says e-scooters can help cut congestion, but rules must be
00:35followed safely. From next month, new rental scooters from Bolt will operate citywide, replacing
00:42the existing vehicles.
