00:01A 49-year-old Chinese national was found murdered at his business place in St. Madeleine last night.
00:07The victim has been identified as Shilili, proprietor of the Yuwa Chinese restaurant and bar
00:13located on the corner of Manahambri and M2 Ring Road in St. Madeleine.
00:18According to police reports, around 11.50pm on Sunday,
00:21a customer visited the business place to make a purchase through an opening in the front door,
00:26which the owner is said to conduct sales after locking up.
00:30However, when the individual looked inside, they noticed an unusual amount of blood across the floor,
00:36leading to behind the counter, out of view, and immediately reported it to police.
00:42On arrival at the location, a few minutes later, officers who were on patrol
00:47entered the establishment and followed the blood trail,
00:50which led to the motionless body of Lee lying in a fetal position on the ground,
00:54both hands and feet bound together at the wrist and ankles with duct tape.
00:59The victim's head and face were bloodied.
01:02He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
01:04A wooden baton was also recovered at the scene.
01:07While a post-mortem is scheduled to determine cause of death,
01:10investigators believe he may have been beaten to death during a robbery.
01:15Speaking off camera, a regular customer described Lee as a kind and nice man
01:20who didn't deserve to die that way.
