Mike Tomlin decides to step down from the Pittsburgh Steelers and he is not going to be
00:05
coaching football this season take a year off and then he still kind of steal his rights to Mike Tomlin
00:11
so a year from now teams like the New York Jets teams like you know name your favorite team that's
00:16
got a lousy head coach or quarterback situation are going to make a trade with the Steelers to
00:21
get the services of Mike Tomlin the same way Sean Payton went to the Denver Broncos but what an end
00:26
of an era an end of an era the only coach to coach two decades and not have a single losing season
00:33
a great head coach only has the one Super Bowl but that's more Super Bowls than I got in my lifetime
00:38
so I'm not gonna make fun of it but Mike Tomlin is done Jim uh Johnny Harbaugh is done and oh by the
00:45
way Kevin Stefanski is done and isn't it interesting all three guys come from the same division and all
00:52
three guys are now regarded as the top three candidates I guess put Tom on the side because
00:57
he's not gonna be a head coach this year for head coaching jobs in the NFL all out of the AFC North
01:05
the only guy that survives the AFC North is Zach Taylor the guy that shouldn't have survived it
01:09
considering he's never done jack squat with the Cincinnati Bengals on the floor huh no no you got it
01:14
AFC not NFC you got it you got it you got it you got it before the show yeah now here's the reality
01:22
Mike Tomlin is now an afterthought until next year yeah Mike Tomlin kind of disappears into the
01:27
wilderness gets to enjoy his family and uh kind of recharge the uh the battery and the engines
01:33
but what's funny to me is that a lot of people think Mike Tomlin would make a great analyst so
01:39
there's two kinds of analysts in football there's the studio guy yeah right usually like five or six
01:44
dudes at the desk they're typically old white guys we started to bring some uh youth into that
01:49
uh into that mix right now and then there's the game analyst so it's funny because I've never met
01:55
Mike Tomlin I've seen the same stuff you've seen you know post-game press conferences I think he's got
02:00
a great personality does he's got a certain way with words that I like right but I'm not sure which
02:05
he'd be better at and it ain't it ain't easy to be a game analyst as easy as people think it might be
02:10
easy so which job would you give him um I think oh sorry yeah there's a third job as well there's
02:18
game analysts yeah like the Greg Olsen's Tom Brady of the world right then there's the right Tony Romo
02:25
there's the studio analyst pre-game post-game you know that's like uh Terry Bradshaw
02:31
Howie Long yeah you know those guys and then I guess there's the Fox ESPN kind of like gab fest
02:40
talking shows like get up and you know like first things first yeah you know the different networks
02:44
those types of shows yeah what do you think he'd be best at well I keep him away from those types of
02:49
shows because they manufacture hot takes every day yes so I would keep him away from that I chose not
02:54
to but many do I'm saying that's what in general those shows do I would keep him away from that
02:58
this is the goat prove me I'm wrong right I would want to put Tom in a spot where he's highlighted
03:04
so I would like if he wants to the booth for a game so game analyst yeah the tough part about that
03:11
is though would be where just because right now well if he's a Fox guy he's the third team and I
03:17
guess because you have Greg Olsen at two Tom Brady at one right if he's CBS you've got Roma one
03:22
and you've got JJ Watt who's and I and Lion Eagle and in both cases I think the number two guy is
03:28
better at games than the number one guy at this point I like Watt more than Romo at this point
03:32
and I like Olsen more than Brady at this point about that Rome was taking a beating because of the game
03:37
last week when he was kind of muttering under his breath and talking to himself and he has not
03:41
delivered on what he did the first couple years when he was predicting plays he knew every play
03:46
right yeah he knew every play um I still think Tony Romo at his best okay is him and Greg Olsen
03:54
are the best current analysts at their best okay I think Tom Brady's gotten better I think uh he's
04:00
worthy of the spot I think Troy Aikman's good to me Aikman is the gold standard okay that's fine
04:06
I wouldn't argue that but I think those like the current Mount Rushmore that being said I've got the
04:10
job for my Tom okay and I feel like I think uh I think most people are gonna agree with me on this one
04:15
yeah and I have actually given it five minutes of thought okay which is a lot for me to be able
04:20
to concentrate on one thing for five minutes you know me yes that's a lot of concentration yeah
04:26
that's like ginkgo biloba pills and that's like you know no sound five minutes of dead-on
04:32
concentration yeah what I've got the answer uh-huh Mike Tomlin could save us from an insufferable race
04:38
spader on tv I would fire Ryan Clark and replace him with Mike Tomlin see that's a cold shot if you
04:48
make that replacement Ryan Clark can't claim racism he can't say you replace me with a young white guy
04:55
or a pretty blonde girl he'd have to eat it because you're replacing him with a black guy right and
05:03
here's my thing on Ryan Clark uh-huh I used to be the biggest fan of Ryan Clark's I even went on
05:08
Twitter you could find my own tweet Ryan Clark is the next superstar in sports media and he thanked
05:14
me for saying it so then I reached out to him once uh you're with mutual friends or producers uh in
05:20
common yeah and I reached out to him because I thought it'd be nice for he and I to you know get to
05:24
know each other like I've done that many times you know we're in the same industry like we're all
05:28
competing with each other but I respect talent right like I'm not one of those guys that says
05:33
everybody but me sucks okay a lot of people in our business do that oh yeah oh I don't watch anyone
05:37
else on TV I don't listen anyone else on radio everybody else sucks I'm the only guy who can do
05:41
this I thought Ryan Clark was a rising star and then unfortunately he made a decision and maybe
05:47
that's good for his family and himself where he became a race guy unfortunately a lot of things
05:52
that he a lot of his takes are about race and I can't stand that black or white so he got to the
05:58
point where I find him insufferable now and I love the pivot I think the pivot had a chance to be
06:02
one of the great podcasts out there and again it all became soapbox race crap right so now I'm going
06:09
to replace him with Mike Tomlin America is happy Mike Tomlin's employed uh he's happy and we can move
06:16
on with our lives and enjoy good sports content
