00:05Of course, we know the story now on Mike Tomlin.

00:07A staple of success, the standard is the standard in Pittsburgh.

00:12Never a losing season in 18 years at the helm.

00:16Never fewer than eight wins and in four of the last five years, a playoff appearance.

00:22In fact, since 2017, you can see the success there.

00:27Five playoff appearances, but not a single playoff win.

00:32Buy or sell, Mike Tomlin is coaching for his job in Pittsburgh next season.

00:39I'm buying it.

00:40I'm buying it.

00:41And most people say, like, how could you do that?

00:43If he would be fired tomorrow, he'd be hired immediately.

00:45Yes, he would.

00:46Doesn't mean the decision is wrong or right by the Pittsburgh Steelers, which way they

00:50go.

00:51But understand this, when they say the standard is the standard, you know what the standard

00:54is in Pittsburgh?

00:55Just winning football games.

00:56You know what the standard is at the end of the season?

00:58Be above 500.

00:59You know what else the standard is?

01:00Don't win a damn thing once you get to the playoffs.

01:02So if we're saying next year, Ben, that we have a season that is 17 games and they go

01:06eight and nine next year, he will be fired from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

01:11If he does have another winning season, they'll probably still keep him around, which means

01:14he still is coaching for his career because we've seen really good football coaches have

01:18under 500 seasons as long as they bounce back the next year, win playoff games and maybe

01:22a Super Bowl championship.

01:24That's happened a lot.

01:25But we're not used to an organization that doesn't have losing seasons and doesn't win

01:29having that dynamic of going, hmm, you know what?

01:31We can't fire a guy who's actually had a winning season and getting us to the playoffs because

01:34it is a business.

01:35But at the same time, like let's just say three years ago, the Steelers won the Super

01:40Bowl.

01:41The next two seasons for Tomlin were both under 500.

01:44He probably wouldn't get fired.

01:45Well, we just won a Super Bowl three years ago.

01:47The guy's been around a long time.

01:48We'll get it together.

01:49But Mike Tomlin's track record is I won a Super Bowl decades ago, it feels like.

01:53And I'm still coasting off that even though we don't have any playoff success in an organization

01:57with six trophies.

01:59But I can understand where you never have a losing season.

02:02It's hard to move on.

02:03But the minute you have a losing season, it's going to be time to moving on.

02:07So for me, yes, Mike Tomlin is coaching for his career in Pittsburgh this season.
