00:00In this week's edition of First Things First, I caught up with one of the owners, Anna Maron, who owns So Happy, before and after the San Vicente.
00:15Anna Maron is with Saints All Sinners, and she has part of the two So Happy.
00:20Okay, Anna, what's in a name?
00:23Well, this is a story.
00:24He is by Run Happy, and when we were naming him, I said to Mark, Mark, I have the perfect name, and it's going to be named after you.
00:34He goes, oh, yeah? What is it?
00:36I go, so happy, because you're always so happy.
00:39Tongue in cheek, right?
00:40Tongue in cheek, and if you know Mark, you would be laughing, too.
00:44I am absolutely dying here.
00:46Well, he's a beautiful horse.
00:47Talk to me about his first run.
00:48He was 38-1 and won like a 6-5 shot.
00:52Was that expected?
00:53Well, there's always expectations, right?
00:56And you're always hoping that they obviously don't know the odds, and he just blew us up.
01:03We were amazed at how great he did.
01:05So, yeah.
01:06Well, good luck here, and we love the name So Happy.
01:11And they're off in the San Vicente.
01:13So Happy into second.
01:15At the rail, Gretich Village losing ground.
01:18So Happy moves to the front.
01:19So Happy, butane, but so happy, fuller run past the 16th pole, and it's so happy.
01:26And Hall of Famer Mike Smith to win the San Vicente.
01:29We're all so happy.
01:32Let's start with the winning jockey here.
01:34Even Mark is smiling over here now.
01:36Why wouldn't he?
01:37You've been high on this horse from the get-go.
01:40Did he give you any inkling he wasn't going to run a big race today?
01:43No, matter of fact, totally the opposite.
01:45He was just so excited out there.
01:47He was so happy today, really.
01:49And, you know, I was really happy with the way he handled the 7-8s,
01:52because usually that's a pretty good indication that they'll go two turns.
01:56He was well within himself, running underneath the wire,
01:59and I was really happy with the way he did things.
02:02And I thank Mark and his team for giving me the opportunity
02:04and my wonderful owners here.
02:06And who knows, man?
02:08Let's see where this takes us.
02:09All right, Mark.
02:10Thanks so much for your time.
02:11Anna?
02:12What did I tell you?
02:13What did I tell you?
02:14And look at him.
02:15He's so happy.
02:16It's named after him.
02:17I mean, I hope everyone understands that.
02:20In your honor, he's so happy.
02:22Well, thank you.
02:23Mark Latt, so happy you got him ready at 38-1.
02:27Was that a little bit of a shock to you?
02:29I know it really wasn't to Anna,
02:31but for you as a trainer watching him in the morning,
02:33how different is he from the morning to the afternoon?
02:36Well, he certainly showed more in the afternoon than he did in the morning,
02:39but we liked the horse quite a little bit.
02:42Asked a lot of him.
02:43First time out, he had to ship down to Del Mar the day he was in.
02:46And so, you know, he's kind of a lucky loo in the morning.
02:49As a matter of fact, we train him in blinkers every day
02:51because he wants to see and look at everything.
02:54And so I just thought he would be a horse that might need a race a little bit,
02:58but did expect him to run well.
03:01Honestly, I didn't think he would run quite that well,
03:03and he backed up that first race with an awesome performance today.
03:07Well done, guys.
03:08We're all...
03:09What are we?
03:10We are so happy today.
03:13Mark, are we so happy?
03:15Absolutely.
03:21And yes, he is very aptly named.
03:23What a weekend for Mark Glatt.
03:25It was at Santa Anita.
