00:00And now it's time for this week's edition of First Things First.
00:03Back by popular demand, we go to the Corgis, and it's girls that lead all the way.
00:15Corgis in the country competing, and let's beat the field.
00:18These guys made it. Hundreds tried.
00:20Let's beat number one is Nauru, first-time starter,
00:24and he made it here to the finals, 20-1 on the morning line.
00:28Cassie loves twirling and cheese.
00:30Let's see if, you know, she can cut the cheese and make it 10-1 for Cassie.
00:36Our favorite is number three, Natty, the first female Corgi national champion.
00:42She blew away her field in the semifinals.
00:46She's 6-5, favorite on the morning line.
00:50Number four is Captain, the 2024 champion, 4-1 on the morning line.
00:55Number five, he came in third in the semifinals, but don't rule out Emmett's chances.
01:00Emmett has won this Corgi national race five times.
01:05It's the record.
01:07Number six is Mr. Finley, two-time champion.
01:11Won his heat, and he is currently 8-5.
01:15Number seven is Scooter.
01:17First time ever, first-time starter, made it to the finals.
01:21Mouse is 20-1, and apparently when Mouse gets nervous, passes a little gas,
01:26so you've got to beware if you're right next to Moose.
01:30Bucky is 8-1, also a first-time starter here.
01:33Maple May is currently 6-1.
01:36Bucky baited here by qualifying by winning the San Diego Corgi championship.
01:40And on the outside is Maple May.
01:43Maple May has got a special quality.
01:46She's good at healing broken hearts, and it's her first time here as well.
01:51They're all in the gate.
01:54And there they go, and Cassie gets out to the lead,
01:57but here comes Natty like a rocket ship.
02:01Natty holds off Captain to get the victory in a hard-fought stretch duel.
02:09We're here with Maddie, and if she could talk, what would she say?
02:13That she had a lot of fun.
02:14It got close, but she did it.
02:17How have you got her to win another final?
02:20No clue.
02:20She just loves to run.
02:22She loves the Frisbee.
02:23What's her favorite toy?
02:25This beer right here, honestly.
02:27Even though she's not old enough to drink, she loves it.
02:29Who doesn't love beer?
02:30Congratulations, Maddie.
02:31She is the Winter Corgi National Champion.
02:34Well done, girl.
02:35Have a beer.
02:42I think it's the first time that a female has actually won the Corgi race,
02:46and she was very, very impressive, winning her heats as well.
02:49So well done to them.
02:51We do have some news from Santa Anita.
02:52We have a massive two-day pick-six carryover into Friday's card.
02:57That starts in race number four.
02:59There's $198,000 in the Kitty, expected to make about $1.3 million.
03:05So many ways to play that nine-race card on Friday at Santa Anita.
03:11Of course, we'll race on Saturday, highlighted by the Buena Vista Stakes,
03:14and on Sunday, the Santa Isabel.
