00:00On this week's edition of First Things First, I caught up with trainer Brian Karner and jockey, Hall of Fame
00:05jockey, Joel Rosario, to talk about the winner of the Siren Law Estates.
00:15We watched Boss Sully take down the Siren Law here with Hall of Famer Joel Rosario.
00:21Didn't take you long to get back to the winner's circle. How are you feeling off of that win?
00:25Yeah, very good. It's not taking me long to have somebody like Brian to put me in the winner, so
00:29thanks, Brian, for that.
00:30And yeah, it was really good. It's just nice to be back and yeah, I feel happy.
00:35He went pretty quick. Did he surprise you the last eighth of a mile when he still managed to stay
00:40and keep going?
00:41Yeah, he's a big horse. It looked up there. He was enjoying what he was doing, looking around.
00:45It looked like every time when I asked to go forward, he was there for me, so I wasn't worried.
00:50So I noticed he was going to keep moving forward.
00:52Well done, Joel.
00:53Okay, thank you.
00:54Brian, nice win. Terrific training job for you.
00:57Were you sure that he was spot on for today? Because we've not seen him since August of last year.
01:02Yeah, he's been traveling really well and all his works have been pretty fun to watch.
01:06And you can see after the way he's pulled up after his works and his attitude, he's just been on
01:09the prowl for the last three weeks.
01:11And I just called Mursad, which runs a lot of the syndicate that I train for here.
01:16I said, I think this is where we're going to go.
01:18The horse wouldn't let me keep him in the barn any longer. He was just doing good.
01:22He hung up a 44 and four half mile. Did you have any worries when you saw that half mile
01:27split?
01:28I had worries when they came to me at the top of the lane so quick. I go, is that
01:31it? It's over? And then he kicked on. I went, wow, that's a good horse.
01:34Talk to me about Joel Rosario. He's moved back to Southern California because you've mounted him very well today all
01:40day long.
01:40Well, Armando Yuzo had days and he came to town on the right day. He came, you know, today's his
01:47first day here.
01:47I talked to his agent, Billy, and he said, I think we're going to be there.
01:51And then I said, I have a horse. I need you to ride on the side of the lure. He
01:54goes, let me call you back in a half an hour.
01:56I go, oh, no, here we go. And then he said, we're good.
01:59I was like, whew. So that was it.
02:02Well done, Brian. Go and celebrate Mother's Day.
02:09Great to have Joel Rosario back in Southern California.
02:12He is represented by agent Billy Castle and I hope we see him having many more trips back to the
02:19winner's circle.
02:19Looks like he's here to stay and really a great addition to our jockey colony here at Santa Anita.
02:26Do want to remind you that Santa Anita does continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
02:30Come watch the Preakness with us.
02:31The best place in the country to watch Preakness is Santa Anita.
