00:00UMNO Youth Secretary Hafiz Arifin today denied rumors that Dr. Akmal Saleh is resigning as UMNO Youth Chief and Merlimau Assemblyman.

00:10Rubbishing such speculation, Hafiz said he was in fact traveling with Akmal to Kinabatangan, Sabah to help UMNO campaign for the upcoming by-election.

00:19He told FMT it wasn't true, adding that they were heading to Kinabatangan for tomorrow's nomination process.

00:26Akmal hinted at quitting his post on Wednesday, saying perhaps it was time for him to step aside after UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi rejected his call for the party to leave the government.

00:38Zahid also rejected Akmal's call for UMNO to revive its cooperation with PAS under the Moafaka National Charter.

00:45Earlier today, DAP Youth repeated its challenge for Akmal to resign from the Melaka Executive Council,

00:50in line with his stated principles as his call for UMNO to quit the government had been rejected.
