00:00Barisan Nacional has retained both the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and the Lamak state seat in today's by-elections, UMNO Youth Chief Dr. Akmal Saleh declared.

00:11In a Facebook post, Akmal said BN had retained Kinabatangan and Lamak, thanking everyone for their support.

00:18UMNO Secretary General Ashraf Wajdi Dusuki said BN was leading in Kinabatangan with a majority of 9,723 votes, while the coalition was leading in Lamak with a majority of 2,093 votes.

00:34The by-elections were triggered by the death of the incumbent Bung Mokhtar Radin 66 in early December.

00:40When contacted, Bung San and BN's candidate for the Kinabatangan seat, Naim Kurniawan Mokhtar, thanked BN's machinery as well as those from other components of the unity government in Sabah, especially Gabongan Rakyat Sabah.
