00:00UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the thought that Dr. Akmal Saleh might resign from his post as UMNO Youth Chief never crossed his mind.

00:10He said he had likewise given no thought to whether he would accept or reject any resignation letter sent in by Akmal.

00:17Speaking to reporters after the National Disaster Management Agency's New Year's Assembly in Petaling Jaya today,

00:24Zahid said UMNO Youth, including Akmal, should celebrate differences in opinion and be open to criticism.

00:31He also urged all UMNO Youth leaders to be resilient,

00:35saying that he himself had collided with mountains and stepped on banana peels during his time as UMNO Youth Chief.

00:42Akmal had posted a message on social media yesterday saying perhaps it is time for me to step aside

00:49after Zahid rejected his call for UMNO to quit the government.

00:52However, Zahid said UMNO would not abandon its coalition partners in the Madani government

00:58after Akmal presented the resolution reached at a special convention in a political bureau meeting on Monday.
