00:00Big Cook, Little Cook
00:30Oh, hello. Welcome to our cafe. The best cafe in the world. I'm just doing my exercises. You can join in too if you like. Copy me. Okay, here goes.
00:51Happy face. Grumpy face.
00:59Oh, hello, everyone. What's wrong with your face, Mol?
01:03Hello, Ben. I'm just doing my exercises. There's nothing wrong with my face.
01:09Oh, why are you wearing a dressing gown, Ben?
01:12Oh, yes, my dressing gown. I almost forgot. Well, this morning I overslept. I didn't have time to get dressed.
01:19I better go and get changed.
01:21Oh, what do you think of my dressing gown?
01:24Oh, yes, it's very smart, Ben. Much nicer than mine. Mine's got lots of holes in.
01:35See what I mean?
01:37That's better.
01:38Oh, there we are. All ready for action.
01:42Oh, but you're all dressed for bed, Mol. What's going on?
01:46I'm just showing off the holes in my dressing gown, Ben.
01:49Oh, but isn't it really cold in winter when the wind goes rushing through all those holes?
01:55Whoosh!
01:57Brrrr! It's freezing.
01:59I should really get a new dressing gown, but I haven't got round to it yet.
02:03Oh, I better take it off in case we get a customer.
02:05Oh, I was in such a rush this morning, I didn't even get a chance to brush my hair.
02:11I hope it doesn't look too silly.
02:18Why couldn't you sleep, Ben?
02:21I don't know. I just felt really wide awake.
02:26It sounds like we've got a customer.
02:28I'm on my way! Woo-hoo!
02:30So who's at our cafe today, Small? Give us some clues.
02:45Well, he's a wee boy from a nursery rhyme.
02:49A wee boy? What does wee mean?
02:52Wee means little, and I'll give you another clue.
02:56He's wearing a nightgown.
02:58I think it's wee-willy-winky.
02:59So what can we cook for wee-willy-winky?
03:02I think it's time to look in my book.
03:14We need a story to help us cook.
03:17Let's take a look in Little Cook's book.
03:20Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World.
03:23Let me see.
03:24One evening, I was out for a peaceful stroll.
03:30It was nine o'clock, and the street should have been quiet.
03:35But quiet it was not.
03:38In every house in the street, the children were hopping and leaping.
03:42Why are all the children still awake?
03:45I asked a rather flustered-looking dad.
03:47They're waiting for wee-willy-winky.
03:50He usually comes to check they're in bed around eight o'clock each evening.
03:53But he's really late tonight.
03:55I decided to go and visit wee-willy-winky.
03:59His house was very dinky.
04:02I knocked on his winky-dinky door, and a very poorly-looking willy-winky answered it.
04:08I've got a cold, he said.
04:13I have to stay in bed.
04:16I had a little think, and I came up with a plan.
04:20I know.
04:22I'll pretend to be you.
04:25So I borrowed wee-willy-winky's nightgown and cap, and off I went.
04:30Wee-willy-small ran through the town, upstairs and downstairs, in his nightgown,
04:39knocking on the windows, calling through the locks.
04:43Are the children all in bed?
04:45It's past eight o'clock.
04:47It wasn't long before all the children were tucked up in bed, dreaming sweet dreams,
04:53and snoring sweet snores.
04:56Little Cook to the rescue once again!
05:00That was a great adventure!
05:03So all those children went to bed in the end, thanks to you, Little Cook.
05:07What a hero!
05:08Wahey!
05:09Thanks, Ben!
05:10I do my best, but we still don't know what to cook for wee-willy-winky.
05:18Ooh-ooh!
05:23I know!
05:24Big Cook's Big Cookery Book!
05:27Of course, the Big Cookery Book!
05:29Look, there's recipes for everything in there!
05:31And where do we look for things to cook?
05:34In the book!
05:35In the book!
05:35In Big Cook's Book!
05:38Hey-hey!
05:40I found the perfect recipe for wee-willy-winky.
05:42It's an eight o'clock cake.
05:44You read out the ingredients, and I'll see if we've got them.
05:47Okay, let's see.
05:48We're going to need eggs.
05:50Here we go.
05:52Eggs.
05:52Yep, got those small.
05:54Butter.
05:55Butter.
05:56In the fridge as well.
05:57Here we are.
05:58Butter.
05:58Yep.
05:59Self-raising flour.
06:00Over to the cupboard.
06:02Flour.
06:02Yep.
06:03Sugar.
06:04Sugar in here as well.
06:06Got the sugar small.
06:07Tin prunes.
06:08Ooh!
06:09Tin prunes.
06:09Oh, there we go.
06:10Tin prunes.
06:11Got those.
06:12Drinking chocolate or grated chocolate.
06:15Oh, yes.
06:16Drinking chocolate.
06:17I like this.
06:17Here we are.
06:18Yep.
06:19And for decoration, icing sugar.
06:21Ooh, there we go.
06:24Great.
06:26And here we are.
06:28Everything we need for the recipe.
06:31I've just got one question, Ben.
06:33How do you make drinking chocolate?
06:35It's a good question, little cook, but I don't know.
06:38Hey, why don't you whiz off and find out, and I'll get everything ready.
06:42Hey, that's a great idea.
06:43See you later.
06:45Hoo, hoo, hoo.
06:48Hey, why don't you come along too?
06:51Whoosh.
06:55Go small, go small, whiz away.
06:59I wonder what he'll see today.
07:09This is one of my favourite places.
07:11Chocolate comes from cocoa beans that grow on trees.
07:16Here are the picked cocoa beans.
07:20This is a chocolate factory where they make drinking chocolates.
07:23Oh, look at all the yummy, scrummy, runny chocolates.
07:30This lady is going to make the drinking chocolates.
07:33First, she puts some of the melted chocolate into a tray.
07:36The tray has a little rattle and a shake to get rid of all the air bubbles.
07:43Pop, pop, hoo-hoo.
07:47Be careful not to spill a drop of that chocolate.
07:51Now the melted chocolate is put into the cold fridge so that it can set.
07:55It becomes hard like this one.
08:03Green for go!
08:06The machine is breaking up the big bar of hard chocolates into lots of tiny little flaky bits.
08:12These little flakes of chocolates are used to make drinking chocolates.
08:25The chocolate is scooped up into bags.
08:28Then it's wade.
08:39Put in a tin.
08:43And then it's made into drinking chocolate.
08:48Hoo-hoo-hoo!
08:49That was fun!
08:51See you later!
08:51I've heard people say that when you're tired, you should have 40 winks.
09:06So that's what I'm doing.
09:0836, 37, 38, 39, 40.
09:14Wahey!
09:15I'm back!
09:17I found out all about drinking chocolate.
09:19Chocolate is made from cocoa beans, which grow on trees.
09:23Hoo!
09:24That's amazing!
09:25Come on, little cook.
09:26Let's get started.
09:27We're all ready, so take a look.
09:30And we will show you how to cook.
09:36Jelly boats and pirates go.
09:38Princess pea pies.
09:40Carrot cakes and fruity smiles.
09:41And envelope surprise.
09:43We love our cafe and we love to cook.
09:47We have a fantastic recipe book.
09:53He is big cook and he is small.
09:57Friends in our cafe, we cook for them all.
10:01When your tummy gets all rumbly, you're ready for a treat.
10:06You can make something delicious to eat.
10:10Have you cleaned the surfaces?
10:18Yes.
10:19Have you washed your hands?
10:20Yes.
10:21All clean and ready to cook.
10:24Do you remember the ingredients at 8 o'clock cake?
10:27You do.
10:28There were eggs, 2, butter, 100 grams, self-raising flour, 100 grams, sugar, 100 grams, tin prunes, 100 grams, drinking chocolate or grated chocolate, 2 tablespoons, and for decoration, icing sugar, 1 heat tablespoon.
10:47Whoopee, let's get started.
10:50The first thing we need to do is turn on the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
10:56Gas mark 4.
10:58And this is a job for your grown-up helper to do because the oven is hot, hot, hot.
11:03Right.
11:05I've cut out some baking paper the same size as the bottom of a cake tin.
11:08You can do this by drawing around the cake tin and then cutting out the circle.
11:15I've also lightly greased the bottom of the baking tin with a little bit of butter.
11:20And now I'm going to pop in the paper.
11:24That's so the cake doesn't stick to the tin.
11:26Next, put the butter and the sugar into a mixing bowl and beat them together until it becomes nice and fluffy.
11:44Light and fluffy!
11:46Now, break the eggs into a separate bowl, like this, and the other.
12:01There we go.
12:03Break the eggs into a bowl!
12:05That's cracking!
12:08And then beat them together using a fork.
12:10Now, this is sort of sideways mixing.
12:17And we're doing it to try and get air into the eggs, so that our cake will go nice and fluffy.
12:25Would you like to have a go, Small?
12:27Oh, yes, please!
12:29There you go.
12:32Wahey!
12:34I love mixing!
12:38All ready, Ben!
12:39Thanks, Small!
12:42Now, add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture a little at a time.
12:51And stir the egg in with a wooden spoon.
12:58There we go.
13:00And a little more.
13:05And another stir.
13:06I wonder how I'm going to mend this dressing gown.
13:12Don't worry, Small.
13:14We'll find a way later.
13:18Now, put the flour into a sieve.
13:21And then sieve the flour into the bowl.
13:30Oh, it looks like snow!
13:32Add the drinking chocolate, or grated chocolate, to the bowl.
13:36Hey, would you like me to teach you my lullaby now?
13:42Good idea!
13:42You teach me the lullaby while I mix the mixture until it's nice and smooth.
13:47Now, add the prunes.
13:52Now, add the prunes.
13:58Oh, they smell delicious!
14:00Snuggle down and rest your head, sail away on your cloud bed, your cloud bed, your cloud
14:11bed, your cloud bed, sail away on your cloud bed.
14:16Hey, Ben, would you like to sing it with me?
14:19Ben!
14:24Sorry, Small.
14:25Your lullaby was so good, it sent me off to sleep.
14:29Perhaps we'd better finish the cooking first before we sing again.
14:33Good idea, Small.
14:34The mixture's nice and smooth now, so it's time to add it to the cake tin.
14:40In it goes.
14:43It's a gloopy job!
14:46And gloopy jobs are the best.
14:51Spread it all around the tin.
14:55And then, we can pop it into the oven.
14:59So, oven gloves on.
15:04And, over we go.
15:07Open the oven.
15:09And, pop it inside.
15:13And, remember, this is a job for your grown-up helper to do, because the oven is hot, hot, hot.
15:19It needs to cook for 30 minutes.
15:21I'll set the timer for 30 minutes.
15:30The cake is cooked and cooled, and now it's time to decorate it.
15:34So, I've made an eight, and some clock hands out of nice, clean card.
15:39And, I've put some little tags on the back.
15:41Now, wait till you see this.
15:43I'm going to pour the icing sugar into a nice, clean sieve.
15:47And then, I'm going to shake it over the cake to give a nice, even dusting all over our cake.
15:58Now, using the tags on the back of the card, carefully lift the hands off the cake.
16:14And, the eight, and there we are.
16:19Eight o'clock cake.
16:21Let's get it to wee-willy-winky straight away.
16:24Right you are, little cook.
16:25Eight o'clock cake coming through.
16:27There, all done.
16:34So, what do we do now?
16:35Can we play?
16:37Not yet.
16:38Time to clean and put away.
16:39Hooray!
16:49Wash, wipe, scrub and clean.
16:50Make the kitchen sparkle and gleam.
16:53My name's Ben, and my name's Paul.
16:59We've got the cleanest kitchen of all.
17:03Tidy all the bits and pop, the things that help us do our job.
17:07Ingredients we'll put away, ready for use another day.
17:11Pots and pans will start to smell, if we don't wash them really well.
17:14And now it's clear, let's all smile, we'll be finished in a little while.
17:18We're all around, up and down, we've got the cleanest cafe in town.
17:34Aha, here comes the plate.
17:36Oh, yes.
17:38Oh, and it looks like wee-willy-winky enjoyed his eight o'clock cake.
17:42Look, Small, he's left a note.
17:44Well, what does it say?
17:45What does it say?
17:46Hoo-hoo, let's see, shall we?
17:49It says, dear Big Cook Ben and Little Cook Small,
17:52thank you for the yummy eight o'clock cake.
17:56I'm sorry that you couldn't go to sleep last night, Ben.
17:58I thought you might like some of my special lavender sleepy dust.
18:03Sprinkle it on your pillow and you'll soon be snoring sweetly.
18:07And there's a cosy dressing gown for Small, too.
18:10Lots of snoozes, wee-willy-winky.
18:13Hoo-hoo, Small.
18:15Hey-willy-winky.
18:16There you go.
18:19Oh, this smells lovely.
18:27Mmm.
18:29I feel sleepy already.
18:31And this is lovely and warm.
18:34There's not a single hole in it.
18:36Brilliant.
18:37Sweet dreams.
18:39I'll see you soon, everyone.
18:40Bye.
18:40Big Cook, Little Cook.
18:47Welcome to our cafe.
18:51Big Cook, Little Cook.
18:54We'll cook for everyone.
18:57We'll cook for everyone.
18:59Welcome to our cafe.
19:00Here we go.

19:06Come on.
19:07Like, come on.

19:08We'll be the grass.
19:10Then let's do it.
19:10Let's do it.
19:11Let's do it.
19:12Let's do it.
19:12We'll change it—
19:12Do it.
19:13Give it a M.
19:14shouted—

19:16Pardon you.
19:16Give it a Mab.
19:17Now,
19:17so that we're crazy.
19:18Let's go.
19:19You see you soon.
19:20Keep it in the Mab.
19:20I'm coming.
19:21To the Mab.
19:22I'm coming.
19:23I'll see you soon.
19:23Yeah.
19:24I'm coming up…
