Cookery series with Big Cook Ben and foot-high Little Cook Small. Ben is riding his bike around the cafe when his tyre bursts. Small offers him a ride on his skateboard, but it is too small. Betty the Bus Driver comes into the cafe and Ben and Small make her some delicious Bagel Wheels. Small flies off to find out everything about bagels. To say thanks for her meal, Betty leaves a puncture repair kit for Ben to mend his bike and invites them both to come for a ride on her bus.

00:53The wheels on my bike go round and round
01:00Oh no, what was that?
01:03Oh, hello everyone, did you hear that noise?
01:07Oh hello Small, it was my bike tyre
01:10Look, I've got a puncture
01:12Oh no, we won't be able to go on our bike ride together Ben
01:17Unless you pop on the back of my skateboard
01:20Oh very funny Small
01:24What do you think?
01:26Do you think I could fit on the back of Small's skateboard?

02:04Beep, beep, beep, beep
02:07And she stops to pick up passengers
02:09Aha, got it
02:12Have you?
02:14She's a driver
02:15Is she a bus driver?
02:17Yes
02:18It's Betty the bus driver
02:20Oh wow
02:21Betty the bus driver
02:23Ho ho, fantastic
02:24I always wanted to be a bus driver when I was little
02:27Ho ho
02:28Beep, beep
02:30All aboard
02:31Tickets please
02:31Ho ho
02:32So what can we cook for a bus driver?
02:35I think it's time to look in my book
02:37We need a story to help us cook
02:49Let's take a look in Little Cook's book
02:52Little Cook's Adventures in the Big World
02:56Let me see
02:57Bessie the bus driver was on her first journey of the day
03:02She'd stopped to pick up a group of school children
03:05They loved going to school on Betty's bus
03:08Betty drove off
03:10On the way to the school
03:12There was a sign on the road that showed
03:14Road works ahead
03:16Use different road
03:18Oh dear
03:20Said Betty
03:21Now I'll have to go a different way
03:24But don't worry boys and girls
03:26I'll get you to school on time
03:28But I'll have to drive my bus along the coast road instead
03:32She said
03:33And off Betty drove
03:35The children didn't mind though
03:37Because they loved driving along the coast road past the seaside
03:41Woohoo
03:42The children started singing
03:44But as they were driving past the sea
03:47They came across another sign in the road that showed
03:50Road works ahead
03:52Use different road
03:54Oh dear
03:56Said Betty
03:57Now I'll have to go a different way
04:00But I'll have to drive along the forest road instead
04:03And off Betty drove
04:05And off Betty drove
04:05The children didn't mind though
04:08Because they loved driving through the forest
04:10And they carried on singing
04:12But as they were driving through the forest
04:15They came across another sign in the road that showed
04:19Road works ahead
04:20Use different road
04:22Oh dear
04:25Said Betty
04:26Now I don't know which way to go to get you all to school on time
04:30And that's where I came in
04:32And that's where I came in
04:33Betty rang me on her mobile phone and told me she was lost
04:37Wait there
04:39I told Betty
04:40I flew over the coast road
04:43Through the forest
04:45Then over a big bridge
04:46Which had cars and buses driving across it
04:49Aha
04:50I thought
04:52That's the road to get to school
04:54Then I landed on my spoon
04:56Beside the bus
04:57And all the children waved and cheered
05:00Hooray
05:00Hooray
05:01Hooray
05:02Straight away I told Betty about the big bridge
05:05And off she drove
05:07Over the bridge
05:10Arriving at their school
05:11Right on time
05:12Little cook to the rescue
05:15Once again
05:17That was a great adventure
05:22Beep beep
05:25Hooray

10:33You do?
10:34There was strong plain flour
10:36250 grams
10:38Fast-acting dried yeast
10:4015 grams
10:41Olive oil
10:422 tablespoons
10:43Tomato puree
10:441 tablespoon
10:45Dried oregano
10:461 teaspoon
10:48Mmm, oregano's a herb and it smells yummy
10:51Warm water
10:52150 milliliters
10:54And milk
10:55A little for glazing
10:57Whoopee, let's get started!
11:00Now the first thing we need to do
11:02Is turn on the oven to 220 degrees Celsius
11:05Gas mark 8
11:07Gas mark 8
11:07And this is a job for your grown-up helper to do
11:10Because remember, the oven is hot, hot, hot
11:13Then put the flour, the yeast and the oregano into a large bowl
11:19Okie dokie small
11:21In goes the flour
11:23Be careful Ben!
11:26Right, now in goes the oregano
11:32And the yeast
11:35And then we can give it a good old stir with a wooden spoon
11:40mix it all in together like this and when we've done that we're going to make a little well in
11:51the middle of the flour like this and then we can pour in the warm water
12:01the oil and the tomato puree
12:12then give it all a good old stir
12:22this is looking pretty good so far
12:26I'm back all clean
12:30ho ho ho mix it all up this is the bit I really love
12:34oh no
12:39don't worry Ben I'll just clean myself up again
12:43oh sorry again small
12:48I'll be very careful from now on right
12:51when the dough's in a lump we can take it out
12:55and then we're going to need it on a board covered in flour until it goes smooth and elastic
13:01and this is another bit I really like
13:03what are you doing Ben?
13:09I'm getting ready to knead the dough small
13:12not with your knees Ben you knead dough with your hands
13:18I know little cook I was only having a laugh
13:21right here we go
13:24needy needy needy needy needy needy needy needy
13:29okay ready
13:31now cut the dough into four pieces and roll each piece into a long sausage shape
13:37then attach the ends together to make a ring shape and that's a bagel
13:42right now I'm sticking the ends of the bagel together
13:46like this
13:48so that they don't come apart
13:50now you may need to use a little water to do this bit
13:54there we go
13:56ho ho
13:57these bagels look just like wheels
13:59that's why they're called bagel wheels Ben
14:02now you need to let them rest for ten minutes
14:05why are they tired?
14:07ho ho ho
14:08okay what's next little cook?
14:10okay now you need to heat up a large pan of water
14:13right you are
14:14okay
14:15here we are
14:16turn on the heat
14:18and remember
14:19this is a job for your grown-up helper to do because it's a hob job
14:23and the hob is hot hot hot
14:25beep beep beep beep
14:27hello
14:29you having fun little cook?
14:31oh yes I want to be a bus driver too
14:34Feedback
14:37beep beep
14:38beep beep
14:39wait
14:41right what's next in the recipe?
14:43when the water is boiling you need to put the bagel rings into the water
14:47two at a time
14:48you be careful on your bus there Small
14:51and you be careful putting the bagels in the water Ben
14:54Small's right actually
14:56this is another job for your grown-up helper to do
14:58cook the bagels on one side
15:02for about 30 seconds and then
15:05turn them over using a slotted spoon
15:08and cook them on the other they should start to go all puffy
15:13well hey this would make a really great steering wheel for a boss
15:19did good good good good good good good good good good good good good good
15:24that's a funny noise you're making their little cook
15:27that's because I'm driving a huge bus
15:30I'll do do do do do do do do I put the bagels onto a grease baking tray
15:35and I'm gonna brush them with a little milk
15:38this is called glazing and it'll make them go all shiny later on
15:43so now we can pop them in the oven
15:47on the middle shelf 15 minutes show
15:49oven gloves on open the door
15:54and in they go
15:58there we are so it's 15 minutes until they go all brown and shiny and remember
16:06this is a job for your grown-up helper to do because the oven is hot hot hot
16:11I'll set the timer for 15 minutes
