00:00
Most recent of the bunch would be Jonathan Gannon
00:02
out in Arizona.
00:05
It is, I think, one of the sneakiest,
00:10
awful teams in recent memory.
00:12
What do I mean by that?
00:13
The Arizona Cardinals lost as many games
00:16
as the Vegas Raiders picking first overall.
00:19
Arizona started the season 2-0 and 3-5.
00:23
And I know 3-5 is not necessarily, you know,
00:26
something to write home about.
00:27
So that third victory was a double-digit win
00:31
in Dallas off a bye.
00:33
We thought, hey, maybe there's something here.
00:37
This group went out and lost their final nine games.
00:42
And I guess despite that, I mean, it was all Jacoby Brissett.
00:49
I know the defense was bad.
00:50
I've never thought Jonathan Gannon was working with,
00:53
you know, pocket aces in Arizona.
00:55
They made the move to get rid of Jonathan Gannon.
01:00
What do you make of that decision?
01:02
I thought it was good.
01:03
Now, I'll say this.
01:05
Do you like any coach in the league?
01:08
No, fair enough, fair enough, fair enough.
01:10
Hang on.
01:11
This is coming from a guy that backed Arizona
01:13
to potentially win the West at plus 420.
01:17
And they started out at 2-0.
01:18
So I was all bought in to Jonathan Gannon in Arizona
01:22
at the start of the year.
01:23
I was wrong on my assessment.
01:24
Because when they finished the year at 8-9,
01:27
had an opportunity to win and sneak into the playoffs last year
01:31
and lost the Carolina game,
01:33
you thought they would be motivated.
01:35
You thought that everything was set to potentially make that type of run.
01:39
And they had the pieces.
01:40
Marvin Harrison Jr. in year number two.
01:42
Trey McBride, one of the top tight ends in the NFL,
01:46
a 1,000-yard receiver.
01:47
They had James Conner.
01:49
And I understand the injuries.
01:51
I get that.
01:52
But there was defensive talent, too, in Walter Nolan.
01:55
And I know he checked out with an injury just about three weeks ago.
01:59
I get all of that.
02:00
But there was no defensive progression.
02:03
This team allowed chunks of yards to a number of different teams.
02:07
Their offense in games outside of Jacoby and Prichette throwing it 50 times
02:13
couldn't coach up the offensive line to run the football consistently.
02:17
They were one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL.
02:20
And that wasn't due to James Conner just being out of that lineup.
02:24
The offensive line was completely terrible.
02:26
And the play calling was as well.
02:28
So when you couple all of that and you say we have young talent
02:32
that the head coach isn't getting through to,
02:34
yeah, he deserves to be chopped.
02:36
Especially when you lose nine games down the stretch.
02:39
So, again, you have a franchise quarterback in Kyler Murray
02:43
that they made the decision to move on from.
02:46
You have that to worry about.
02:48
What are you going to do?
02:49
And this head coach looks clueless throughout the regular season.
02:54
And let's not forget, you want to throw in the DiMarcardo situation.
02:58
Maybe he wasn't a locker room guy.
03:00
But, again, at the end of the day, where is the positives?
03:04
The negatives outweigh all the pluses for this football team.
03:08
You can't win three games with this talent, Kev.
03:11
You just die.
03:12
Joe, they were the most injured team in football for the final month.
03:16
You say this talent.
03:18
You say this talent.
03:20
What are we referring to?
03:21
Okay?
03:21
Okay, well, again.
03:24
Because Will Johnson and Walter Nolan are rookies.
03:27
And, by the way, I know Walter Nolan ended up injured.
03:30
Trey McBride obviously broke out, but that's what, you know,
03:33
wasn't a first-round draft choice.
03:34
Marvin Harrison Jr. has not worked out.
03:36
They were able to get Michael Wilson to break out for this team.
03:39
Who are the superstars that I'm supposed to be banking on here
03:43
for Jonathan Gannon to win football games with?
03:44
Well, we're making it sound, Kev, like we're starting Russell Wilson
03:48
and we're starting Garvin Carroll.
03:49
We're starting Jacoby Brissett, Joe.
03:51
Okay, but Jacoby Brissett, again, Kev, at the end of the day,
03:56
threw the football and they were able to move it.
03:58
The defense gave up tons of yards.
04:01
Tons.
04:01
They were abused week in and week out.
04:04
And we're going to attest that to a ton of injuries?
04:07
It's just all injuries.
04:08
Yeah, a ton of injuries and not a lot of talent.
04:10
I'm sorry, I do not think that Arizona has entered into any of these
04:17
Jonathan Gannon seasons where, I mean, Joe,
04:19
we look at the rest of the NFC West, right?
04:22
Yeah.
04:22
And they put three teams in the postseason.
04:24
The gap in what those teams have, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle,
04:30
talent-wise is massive to me.
04:33
Okay, so let's just look at the wide receivers.
04:36
Outside of JSN, who does Seattle have as a pure number two?
04:41
Who cares?
04:42
They got the guy who led the league in receiving yards.
04:44
JSN's one of the five best receivers in football.
04:46
Okay, all right.
04:47
And Trey McBride is a thousand-yard receiver at the tight end position.
04:49
Okay, Joe, but what else does Seattle have?
04:51
One of the most talented defenses in football.
04:53
Marvin Harrison Jr. was a number one draft pick for them.
04:56
Yeah, they got the pick wrong.
04:57
I mean, it's hard to argue they didn't get the pick wrong.
05:00
Did they not get the pick wrong?
05:01
I don't know, did they?
05:02
You thought they got the pick wrong in real time.
05:03
You thought it should have been really neighbors.
05:04
Well, I like neighbors, but that doesn't take away that Marvin Harrison
05:08
wasn't valued or looked at as a pure number one.
05:12
He was.
05:13
I just like neighbors more.
05:15
But you're telling me 600 yards from Marvin Harrison Jr.?
05:18
Joe, but what about the defensive talent, though?
05:20
What about the – he's a defensive guy.
05:22
Yeah, I like Will Johnson.
05:24
I like Walter Nolan.
05:25
I like Will Baker.
05:26
Those are rookies.
05:28
These guys are supposed to turn this whole thing around?
05:30
That and bringing Josh Sweat in from Philadelphia?
05:32
Yeah.
