00:00Texans a ten and a half point favorite.
00:02They're going against a rookie quarterback making his first start.
00:06Last week, I think unquestionably, one of the two or three biggest wins of the year.
00:11The Chiefs win was big, I think, just for the Texans' psyche.
00:16The Buffalo win on Thursday was really, I thought, the one that kind of,
00:19at least with the defense, kind of raised the consciousness level
00:22of what this Texans' defense is capable of.
00:25That Chargers win, on the road, short week, holiday week,
00:29going against a team that was still in the mix for the number one seed in the AFC.
00:33And the Texans executed the formula that you and I just talked about
00:36ten minutes ago perfectly.
00:38Get a lead.
00:40It would be nice if they didn't go through these huge lulls in the game
00:43where they're, you know, three and out, three and out, punting all the time.
00:45But this is a formula that has worked for this football team,
00:49and that was a big win over the Chargers,
00:51who the Texans are now ahead of in the standing.
00:53So we've got to pick a circle of swarm here, my friend.
00:56Are you ready to go?
00:57I'm ready.
00:57Ready to pick?
00:58I think this is a tough one.
00:59You always go first.
01:00There's some guys that, boy, there's a guy I'm considering putting on here
01:04who didn't even actually show up in the box score defensively, I think.
01:08We'll get to that later.
01:09Ooh, that's interesting.
01:10Yeah.
01:10Okay.
01:11I'm going to go to my issue of,
01:15do I go with Daniel Hunter or Will Anderson?
01:18Mm-hmm.
01:19Hmm.
01:20So Will Anderson and Daniel both had sacks in this game.
01:23Will had a halfsy.
01:24Oh, that's right.
01:25It was a half sack with Sheldon Rankins, which is another tough one that I'm having between,
01:29because Sheldon Rankins had a bunch of pressures in this game too.
01:32Yep.
01:32Yep.
01:32And a half sack.
01:33Yep.
01:35There's a lot to like on the defensive side of the ball in this game.
01:38I'm going to go with,
01:39I'm going to go with Will Anderson.
01:42Will Anderson Jr.
01:43Okay.
01:43There you go.
01:44So Will Anderson, Seth Vicks, Will Anderson.
01:46I mean, you can almost pick him every week.
01:48Yeah.
01:48He's just so good.
01:49He's almost at the, he's at the LeBron MVP.
01:54Yeah.
01:55Yeah.
01:55Yeah.
01:55You get tired of voting for him.
01:56Every year.
01:57Yeah.
01:57Yeah.
01:57Yeah.
01:58Will Anderson, by the way, just expanded his lead in the number of circles of swarm that
02:04he's, he's been, he's, he's been on the most.
02:06I think this is his 10th.
02:07I'll, I'll look after we're done.
02:09Um, my first one is going to be Henry Toa Toa.
02:12Got a lot of love from a lot of people for his performance in that game.
02:15Yeah.
02:15Leading tackler in the game.
02:16That can be deceptive.
02:18Sometimes he was, he showed up, he was on screen a lot in that game.
02:23Yeah.
02:23And he followed, this is what I liked about Toa Toa is he might've had his worst game
02:27of the year the week before.
02:28And even D'Amico was acknowledging that, that Toa Toa did not play well in that Raiders.
02:33No, no, no.
02:33Yeah.
02:34D'Amico, D'Amico really taught.
02:36He talked about the conversation he had with Henry Toa Toa about how, Hey, your bad plays
02:40don't define you that you're a good player.
02:43Yeah.
02:44And he really rebounded.
02:45Now, part of this was schematically.
02:47They were able to play with three linebackers on the field a lot more.
02:51They didn't play with three linebackers at all against the Raiders.
02:55With Al Shire back in, Toa Toa could just, he didn't have the green dot.
02:58He wasn't the signal caller, all of that.
03:01So he could just go.
03:02Yes.
03:02And he came up big.
03:04He came up big.
03:04He came up big.
03:05With a couple of very good, boring, but secured form tackles at the end of the game that really
03:12mattered.
03:13Yep.
03:13No question.
03:14In the open field, no less.
03:15In the open field.
03:16Yeah.
03:16That's, it's nice to see, man.
03:18That is nice to see.
03:19All right.
03:20Who's your next one?
03:20Oh, okay.
03:21So this is one I was having a hard time with because I don't think he showed up in the
03:24defensive box score, but as D'Amico talked about this week, the presence of Danico Autry.
03:35Oh no.
03:35Yeah.
03:35Danico had a sack.
03:36He had a sack.
03:37He had a sack.
03:37Yeah.
03:38Okay.
03:38This is easy then.
03:39Yeah.
03:39The presence of Danico.
03:40Should've had two, but he got called for a ratchet tripping call.
03:42Yeah.
03:43I can't believe I forgot the sack.
03:45Yeah.
03:46Yeah.
03:46Danico Autry, because it's, it's not random dumb chance.
03:50That the Texans have seen more missed extra points and more missed field goals.
03:55And just about everybody in the NFL, the presence of Danico Autry, and who's blocked
04:00over a dozen kicks in his career messes up the operation, the, from the center to the
04:06holder, to the kicker, they know that this is a different squad they're facing.
04:09And that's why so many teams have missed extra points and field goals versus the Texans.
04:14They're the top ranked team in terms of opposing field goal percentage and opposing extra
04:18point percentage.
04:19Yeah.
04:19And a lot of it is because of the presence of Danico Autry.
04:22And he had, he had one and a possible second sack in this game.
04:26Yes.
04:27Yeah.
04:27Yeah.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:28And the chiefs, the chargers missed two kicks in that game.
04:32I think it's a great one.
04:32That's a really good one.
04:35I did it last year.
04:36I omitted this guy when he shouldn't have been omitted.
04:39He's my neighbor.
04:40I'm not going to let it happen again.
04:41Cause I don't want him to come up to me in the building and say, Hey man, how about leaving
04:46me out of the circle of swarm one more time?
04:48Yeah.
04:49I'm not going to do that to Derek Barnett.
04:50Oh, good.
04:51Good.
04:52Two sacks in a row into back to back plays, two sacks, which he earned beat his guy.
04:59It wasn't one of the, we weren't coverage sacks where the quarterback just has to get
05:02brought down by somebody.
05:03The second one was a beautiful spin move.
05:06And they came in a pretty crucial juncture in the game early in the second half.
05:09The Texans first possession, you know, the, the chargers went three and out.
05:13I think the Texans went three and out still 14 to three.
05:17You know, if the chargers get something going there, but no, no, no, you're going three and
05:20out again.
05:21There's two sacks circle of swarm.
05:23We talked earlier about how the Texans seem to have this knack for getting the best version
05:26of a defensive lineman.
05:27Let's remember that when the Texans picked up Derek Barnett, he was on the scrap heap
05:31from the waved.
05:32Yeah.
05:33The Eagles thought like, ah, no, this guy's, he's seen better days.
05:36We're done with them.
05:37It was way.
05:38Yeah.
05:38So, uh, and they've gotten some really good performances out of him on the team for,
05:42he'll, I mean, that was in 2023.
05:44He does.
05:45He has a silky smooth spin move.
05:46I've got multiple times.
05:48I've messed up and thought that it was Daniel Hunter because I just, without being able to
05:51see the number, I'm like, Ooh, nice spin move by Daniel.
05:54Yeah.
05:54Like, Oh, Nope.
05:55Nope.
05:55His spin move is as elegant as Daniel's.
05:57He's a former first round pick.
05:59I mean, his, uh, his credited sack was the one where he punched out the ball.
06:01Right.
06:02Who are we talking about?
06:03Danico, uh, Danico Autry.
06:04Sorry.
06:05I was thinking about when I was going back to Danico Autry.
06:07Oh, yeah.
06:07Prop.
06:08He punched out the ball and because Rich Eisen seemed kind of surprised that it was called
06:12a sack.
06:13Yeah.
06:13That's the way it works for quarterback pulls the ball.
06:16That's a sack.
06:17That's a, and we know this isn't on a pass play.
06:19You know, this isn't your first game doing play by play.
06:21Yeah.
06:21Because we've lamented all the other ones.
06:23Those are the rules of football.
06:25Yeah.
06:25Oh, and they, they ruled that a sack.
06:27Yeah.
06:27Yeah.
06:28The quarterback fumbled.
06:29Uh, who's your last one?
06:31Oh, all right.
06:32So offensively.
06:34Oh boy.
06:36I'm going to, you know what?
06:37If you don't get an offensive person in here, I probably will just to, I'm going to give,
06:41um, despite, despite the fact that the two awesome plays went to Jaden Higgins and Jalen
06:47Knoll, the fact that the presence of Nico Collins is what fueled the coverage errors.
06:54Acknowledged by both of those guys.
06:55Yeah.
06:56Yeah.
06:56That Nico, Nico very much, uh, was the cause of those guys having those opportunities.
07:02Yep.
07:03So, uh, Nico Collins and Nico had a big catch on that last, uh, the last drive to get them
07:09kind of towards midfield, which is, uh, that's been kind of becoming a regular thing in the
07:14fourth quarter.
07:15It doesn't have to be a touchdown.
07:16It doesn't have to be the game winning play.
07:19It has to be the game preserving play.
07:20That's right.
07:21And, uh, that's where Nico really becomes the go-to guy closer, no doubt about it.
07:26Um, all right.
07:27Oh, good.
07:27So the last one here.
07:28Okay.
07:29I'm got a few of them in mind, got a couple on offense, got one on defense.
07:35I am going to go with, Hmm, I'm going to go.
07:42It's going to be a rookie.
07:44Jaden Higgins, Jalen Knoll, both had big touchdowns early in this game.
07:49But man, Woody Marks closing the deal at the end of the game, Woody Marks with a 19 yard
07:53run to get out of the post this game.
07:56Yeah.
07:57Those are big marks.
07:58And you know, there too, the week before, uh, without even, I'm not throwing shade at
08:03Jowar Jordan or anything, but just there's some things physically, I think that Jowar
08:06Jordan's not going to be able to do because of his size.
08:09And that's grinding out some of the extra yardage, which 205 pound Woody Marks can do.
08:15Yeah.
08:15Woody plays his butt off, man.
08:17You just talked me into it.
08:18He's 205 pounds and he's dragging linebackers over the line to game at critical moments
08:24in the game.
08:25Woody Marks.
08:26Yeah.
08:26Woody Marks is going in because it hit because it's the stuff he was doing was swarmy or
08:30two, you know, like he's playing with physicality.
08:33No disrespect to Jalen Knoll and Jaden Higgins, two massive plays, but Woody Marks, especially
08:38at the end, man, first and 10, eight yard run, two yard run game over when everybody knows
08:43you're running the football.
08:44That Jalen Knoll touchdown, the, the field level view of that on the TV copy.
08:50When you see him look, turn on the jets.
08:54Yeah.
08:54Just when he stood, when he started, when he starts crossing the middle of the field.
08:59Oh my gosh.
08:59He's fast.
09:00He's, he's the one I'm, we still have a post season to get to here, but if we were to start
09:05to look ahead and say, who are some of the guys you're most excited about for 2026?
09:08Yeah.
09:09He's, he is very much at or near the top of the list for me.
09:14Cause I don't think, I don't think this team is, I know they're not going to bring Christian
09:17Kirk back on a $16 million deal.
09:20Yeah.
09:20Um, you know, it feels like Kirk was brought here to be sort of a holdover to be that.
09:24Well, he was kind of like the veteran guy that at the time they, you know, the guy that
09:29can be a mentor for a younger draft pick and do all those, those nuance.
09:35It doesn't feel Kirk has been ingrained into this offense as much as you'd like.
09:39No, I'm super excited about Noel next year, but we still got Sunday and we got the playoffs
09:44to get to.
