00:39feels like D'Amico just said earlier today that the starters will not play so we'll see Reed the
00:45starters will not play uh against against the Panthers all right now if Reed Blankenship of
00:51number six waltzes out there on Friday now we now we get out now we got to have something to
00:55talk
00:55about but uh but uh he said they won't play so this is the last time they will get run

01:02somebody else in a game-like scenario this is probably the last time they'll do something very
01:08pretty much in a game-like scenario they're not going to the ground or anything in practice leading
01:12up to the Buffalo game but this was D'Amico's thoughts on the practice today in the joint practice
01:19against the Panthers today was a really really great day thought we got great competitive work
01:24versus the Panthers they showed up very gracious hosts thankful for them for them having us I like
01:29the way our guys showed up from start to finish today we uh we executed really well guys played
01:34physical and we it was a productive practice on both sides like both teams came in with the right
01:39mindset appreciate Dave for how he handled it really great operation practices ran efficiently and we got a
01:46lot of productive work so it's exactly what we wanted all right there's D'Amico uh expressing uh getting
01:53getting better good work in and Clint when you look at all the reports obviously we weren't there
01:57gracious host yeah nothing like if somebody inviting you over into their home and just letting you kick
02:02the hell out of them they went in there put they as Chris Broussard would say put their feet up
02:07on the
02:07furniture went up there and made themselves a sandwich got this drink told mom to get them some tea
02:13went in there they may camp it on a Texas jersey when they got in there
02:17not apparently but what we read Clint Tyler the Texas went in there just beat the brakes off of
02:23them on both sides of the ball uh according to uh reports this from Aaron Wilson Clint
02:28that defensively the Texas defensive line just dominated uh the Panthers offense
02:36Daniel Hunter had at least four maybe five sacks himself Will Anderson was in the backfield the
02:42entire way it was out of hand and then Kalen Bullock a guy we've talked about a guy that I
02:48said that
02:48outside of Will and Daniil and and Derek Stingley he's probably the one that has a chance to be an
02:56all pro at his position uh going into into this upcoming season he had two interceptions of Bryce Young
03:03during team periods today so they just absolutely did what we think this defense would do to most
03:10seem this is a team that made the playoffs last year but they they absolutely dominated them
03:14according to all reports yeah and and this is you know I go back to again Foster Moreau speaking a
03:21couple of days ago and and I thought he he laid it out beautifully with with our defense with the
03:25Texans defenses this is not just a good defense I mean that this is a a defense that if you
03:31go out
03:32there and and if you don't like you the base floor is you've got to match the intensity if you
03:39don't
03:39match the intensity it is like a tidal wave and you have no chance right it's like a tsunami you
03:45have no chance and and that is that is ultimately what what it sounds like the Texans did the Carolina
03:52today um and I'll be honest with you probably what the Texans are going to do to I don't know
03:59how many
03:59teams are on their schedule that are just seems like that kind of kind of middle of the pack to
04:05bottom of the barrel you know those teams are just going to get overwhelmed by this defense and
04:09and um it's it's going to be fun to watch on REM but it's it's going to be one of
04:15those where it's
04:15just you feel for the opponent because they have no chance and so um yeah I mean look anytime that

04:21the opponent's head coach starts with boy we just got we just got dominated today that's um you know
04:26you know you want to handle your business speaking to that like there are times where there are times
04:31where we we go out and watch camp practice and we come away with different thoughts than some other
04:39people do and some other things that are reported yeah yeah but when the head coach of the other team
04:45comes out and says basically man they came in here and just whipped our ass and like like there's no
04:50really disputing it if you met Dave Dave Canales the the head coach of the Panthers right good young
04:56coach they got to the playoffs last year this is a team that has expectations I'm not Texans
05:01expectations but they have expectations in that in that division this is what he had to say about
05:06practice I was pretty lopsided today I'll be honest um I would say that in general over camp I'm really
05:12I'm I'm very excited about where we're at as an offense in our scheme the variation of the run game
05:18the actions tied into that the drop back pass game Bryce's rhythm with a lot of our guys with TMAC
05:24you know Xavier hasn't been out there but with Jalen um just finding different ways to get completions
05:29and all so I've been really encouraged by that uh today did not show that today there was a couple
05:33of flashes of some nice throws and catches but um you know that was a good group today so again
05:38I try
05:38not to just take it all in a microcosm but if we want to be good we have to be
05:43able to play against
05:43teams like this Dave's not an a-hole no that's good that's how you do it right there he when

05:49someone Tyler says to be honest after a statement you know they mean it
05:56like today was lopsided to be honest with you like you know they mean it and then he went back
06:02over the last two weeks of camp said hey we've done some good things but that was not that was
06:05not uh that was not obvious today uh so yeah man that that's uh that's what you hope you come

06:12with when you you know when you when it's the last real action that your starters are going to get
06:17before you start prepping for Buffalo week one this is exactly what you want I mean you want a
06:22defense that that was overwhelming you want a defense that was dominating and then you want an
06:27offense that went out there and was efficient a quarterback that that was pinpoint a quarterback
06:32that that communicated well an offense that communicated well and um I think the Texans I
06:38think they got exactly what they wanted uh out of this joint practice now again I look I I hate

06:43little uh all NFL teams are actually practicing before the first game I hate it I mean I would I
06:50would
06:50pull the Tom Brady and have secret practices just to have the advantage in week one I don't think
06:54you can do that well Tom did during COVID Tom damn sure did if it's player organized you damn sure
06:59can I think um but uh I think I think I think Tom did it but uh that don't make

07:05you know if you look at just what's legal I guess uh and and what's what's they do in 2026

07:15both both drives that the first team had one was with Davis Mills and just the first team
07:20offensive line then one of them was the entire first unit minus three guys Dalton Schultz David
07:26Montgomery and Nico Collins both of them one was 11 plays 75 yard touchdown one of them was 10 plays

07:32yards and a touchdown and so um that's your action in preseason games and then you know I think today
07:41sums it all up with an overall team effort that was pretty pretty impressive yeah Frank said sounds
07:46like the Texas defense suffocated the Panthers offense yeah uh the coach said uh anytime we drop
07:52back the pass we just couldn't do anything yeah I mean that that's probably what a lot of teams
07:57are going to see also on the other side um CJ Stroud uh reported to have a sharp day uh

08:04Collins a couple of times uh touchdown to Jalen Knoll that is a good sign to see him in team
08:10uh touchdown to Marlon Klein the rookie as well uh they seem to have success and get the better
08:16of the uh the uh the the Panthers defense again I know there's a lot of people that'll minimize it
08:22I I think it's I think it's a mistake if you do um right now we've gone through the bulk
08:32of camp
08:32that's going to be at least competitive for your ones like you've gone through the bulk of camp you're
08:37not going to see much if if anything else right moving forward um the fact that CJ Stroud navigated
08:44this thing and there was never never a day where it was just really there never was really a bad
08:50day
08:50there was a day where there was an interception here an interception there there was a day when
08:53sure the the pocket collapsed around the the quarterback and um but there never appeared to
08:58be a day where it was just a real stinker for for CJ Stroud and and to kind of awake
09:04the the
09:05critics if you will about how the season ended last year I I just personally believe that that
09:11that was a fragile window for CJ Stroud right and and and for him to navigate this whole thing
09:17and not have any hiccups along the way and in fact you can argue the chemistry that he was building
09:23with Higgins right the chemistry that he's building with Marlon Klein uh what we've seen him do with
09:28Jarrett Wayne now you kind of throw the Higgins wrinkle in there now all of a sudden you got
09:32you got Jalen Noel coming back and apparently that that that is is bearing some fruit over the last
09:37couple of days and now you got boot like the to navigate that whole process and and never have
09:43really a hiccup to where anybody can really zone in on a turnover issue or holding the ball too long
09:50issue I think is a is a really positive experience for really the whole offense for being honest I mean
09:56everybody was on everybody D'Amico down everybody was was tuned into what how's he going to react
10:02what's this offense going to look like what is what is the 2026 27 especially in the big moments like
10:07sure big moments have been the preseason game that he played really good which he did you gave him an
10:13a
10:13uh when we talked about a plus yeah we talked about of everything he did running the offense making
10:18the plays when he needed to against the Raiders the first time I think he had a pretty good performance
10:23there as well showed up pretty good there and then this joint practice like all of and then and then
10:29to go with what you're saying the every day of just this this is far better than it was last
10:35year
10:35obviously far better and a lot of and a lot of other things around him far better than it was
10:41last year
10:41like you know not experiencing what Bryce Young probably experienced today yeah yeah yeah let me look
10:47you heard Bryce Young uh you heard what happened to him today I don't know if he talked to the

10:51if I was a coach I'd probably ask him not to but last week you got Kirk Cousins talking about

10:55hit my arm you can hit anything you want but don't you know you like like it is extremely frustrating
