Texans Win Because And Texans Lose Because

In The Loop gives reasons why the Texans will win and why they will lose at the Indianapolis Colts to open the regular season.

00:00Texans win because Texans lose because as we head into the

00:03weekend, looking forward to week one of the Texans season,

00:07what are the things that are going to happen or that could

00:11happen that would mean that Texans win? And you know, on the

00:14negative side, what are the things that could happen that

00:15would make it so that the Texans lost?

00:18Well, I'll start on the negative side because we got to leave

00:20them with an upswing here, right? So to me, it's just so

00:25obvious. You know, Jonathan Taylor, demolishing the middle

00:31of that defense. Yeah, we've seen it before 800 yards plus in

00:35six games against the Texans. His name is Jonathan Taylor, but

00:40you can call him TY because that's kind of what he's become

00:43with the Texans like like they lose because and even and that's

00:48not even counting what Anthony Richardson might do. And we

00:50don't know. Yeah. But as far as like the path to victory or like

00:55people like to say for the Colts, it's Jonathan Taylor,

00:58just yeah, shredding this team.

00:59If they can't stop the run. Yeah, that will be a big issue

01:02in the course of Yeah, we if we're talking Monday about a

01:04loss, that's definitely going to be a big part of it. You want to

01:08get a win because in there?

01:09Yeah, I think I think the win it may be as obvious, but I think

01:14it's it's certainly to be determined. It's like how Bobby

01:18Slowick has utilizes all these weapons. We you know, one of the

01:23one of the ongoing themes here is, are they going to feed them

01:26all? You know, everybody wants there's only one ball and

01:30everybody's going to want to eat and all that stuff. Bobby

01:32Slowick, I have all the confidence in the world has a

01:35plan to do that. Can they do it? And I'm not talking about just

01:38the three wide receivers. I'm talking about, you know, we've

01:41talked a lot about Dalton Schultz underneath Joe Mixon

01:44out of the backfield. How about that tight end? That's not a

01:47tight end. I mean that fullback that's not a fullback and using

01:51him out of the backfield the mismatches. I mentioned this

01:53earlier. Just just imagine and I want to see this and I think we

01:56are going to see this three wide receivers. No backs the tight

02:02end and the back coming out of the backfield. I should say.

02:04Yeah, that's that's that's five weapons man. Yeah, and how he's

02:08going to use it. They're going to win because of Slowick's

02:10ability and obviously CJ Stroud, but but Slowick's ability to

02:15just make them guess every snap.

02:18Yeah, for me Texans lose because the interior of the offensive

02:22line does not have their best day. We know that the interior

02:26of this defensive line for the for the Colts when you talk

02:29about Grover Stewart, you talk about DeForest Buckner, those

02:32guys can really get after you. And obviously the run game is

02:36something that this Texans team needs to show itself capable of

02:40doing. But also, yeah, we talked about the idea of there's

02:42possibility of getting pressure up the middle. And I know that

02:45you know, typically the Texans offensive line pass blocking is

02:50fine. CJ Stroud, we know that he's managing pockets really

02:52well. But no quarterback wants that pressure up the middle. And

02:55we saw what pressure can do when the offensive line isn't on it

02:59with Lamar Jackson. Now he was out there creating but even with

03:02all of that creation, it looked like you had a heavy weight on

03:04the shoulder. Yeah, that'd be a problem if you're looking at it

03:07with CJ dealing with too heavy of a load and he can't not being

03:10able to get the ball out to all those weapons that you pointed

03:12out to Texas win because they're able to stop the run.

03:15Like as you mentioned, if you have the likes of Henry To'o To'o

03:19you have Jake Hansen stepping up and really filling those gaps in

03:22the ways that they're supposed to. Now you're cooking with

03:24grease right now you're in a good place because I don't know. I

03:27don't know that that that that that offense is really going to

03:30kill you passing the football although unless if the eyes if

03:34the eyes are fooling you and you're seeing guys really

03:36binding on the run and then those passes are just going

03:38right over the top of that linebacker then that can get

03:40real dicey. But I think if those guys are capable of really

03:42stepping in and playing like D'Amico Rhines believes them

03:45capable of I think this should be a good one. And I you know

03:48it's always a cliche and sort of like a crutch. Oh you know

03:52whoever wins the turnover battle whoever wins you know so I'm not

03:55saying that but I'm saying if Kamari Lassiter shows you know

03:59because they've got two good wide receivers. They do. You

04:01know and we know. Although one is one is the standout. Yeah

04:05yeah Michael Pittman but but let's say you know Kamari

04:09Lassiter holds his own there. Anthony Richardson my big you

04:13know criticism of him you know as much as I know what he can

04:16do and he's just a physical freak and all that is he's not

04:19real accurate. Like sometimes he'll throw the ball right to

04:23you. So if you have good coverage on the other side and

04:26good coverage deep maybe maybe they'll snag one or two and

04:31that'll change the whole game. Some other ones that came in

04:33Texans win because we decided to let Richardson make the plays

04:36only he can make. We should concentrate on forcing him to

04:39pass in the defensive backs as you mentioned Texans lose

04:42because Laramie Tunsil gets treated like the Ravens left

04:44tackle Ronnie Stanley. That's on the table. That is a

04:46possibility with the emphasis that got me nervous. That is on

04:49the table. On lining up in such a way. Some other things that

04:53came in 9-3-6 Texans lose because they can't stop the run

04:57and can't protect CJ. Another one Texans lose because we

05:00can't we underestimate the Colts. 2-8-1 win if they can

05:05stop the run and run the ball. Okay all those coming in I

05:08appreciate you guys getting involved. If they can't if they

05:11can't win because they can't protect CJ. That's a whole

05:14nother problem. It sure is. It sure is. And Texans win because

05:18CJ spreads the ball around to eight or nine different targets.

05:22Oh I like what we're doing there. Well I say five but I'll

05:23take eight or nine. All sorts of people getting active. Look at

05:26Sims getting some catches. Let's spread the ball around ourselves.

05:29Wait a minute is that Juice Scruggs with the catch? That's

05:32illegal. That's not allowed. I know that for certain. I don't

05:34know a lot. That's not allowed.
