As public concern grows over rising costs, more increases are coming into effect from the start of the new year.
This time, the adjustments affect Customs fees, with new charges approved just days before Christmas.

00:00More increases for the public as the government has approved higher customs-related fees set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
00:09Under Legal Notice No. 472, the customs processing fee has been doubled, moving from $40 to $80.
00:17The amendment was signed on December 22, 2025, but was only published in the legal supplement three days later, on Christmas Day.
00:25The increase was made under Section 263 of the Customs Act, which allows such regulations to be amended by order without parliamentary debate.
00:35A separate amendment, Legal Notice No. 473, also brings higher charges at container examination stations.
00:43Fees previously set at $375 will now rise to $750, while another category increases from $525 to $1,050.
00:57Both measures take effect on January 1, 2026, adding to the list of cost adjustments approved ahead of the new year.
