The Dallas Mavericks outlast the Denver Nuggets in an instant classic, 131–130, to move to 2–0 in the season series. Rookie sensation Cooper Flagg nearly posts his first career triple-double with 33 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists, while Anthony Davis delivers 31 in back-to-back 30-point outings. Dallas shoots over 57% from the field and seals a high-drama finish against the defending champs.

Jamal Murray counters with 31 points and 14 assists for Denver, and Tim Hardaway Jr. knocks down seven threes in his return to Dallas, but the Mavericks make just enough plays late to grab the win.

00:00The Dallas Mavericks brought in the holiday spirit with their pre-Christmas matchup against
00:08the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center and finished victorious with the
00:13final score of 131 to 130. In both matchups, they were leading in the first two quarters
00:18and specifically against the Nuggets, they gained a lead as big as 21 points early on.
00:23This was a game of easy transition baskets for Dallas as they were able to capitalize on 20
00:28compared to Denver's 14. Cooper Flagg had a well-rounded offensive night as he was getting
00:33going early on in the game, finishing with just 14 points in the first quarter and also finished the
00:38game with 33 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds. In the second half of this matchup, Denver's momentum
00:44started to pick up and change the flow of the game as they closed their deficit, tying the game at 76
00:49in the third quarter. We heard from head coach Jason Kidd following the game and he stated that
00:54being in a close game last night made it easy to carry over and he thought they had a positive
00:58fourth quarter.
01:00Being in a close game last night is easy to carry over but I thought it was a positive
01:03fourth quarter. The third quarter was our fourth quarter and so we kind of got that bad quarter
01:10out of the way so that we can respond and I thought the group responded.
