00:17Ecuador's Public Prosecutor's Office sentenced the police officers responsible for the disappearance and murder of four Ecuadorian minors from Guayaquil in Das Malvinas' case.
00:34Palestine authorities denounce that the ongoing Israeli blockade is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
00:46Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from De JesĂşs Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:05In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro asserted that the country overcame the economic blockade imposed by the United States with a 99.5% domestic production of supplies.
01:15The Venezuelan president indicated that the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean assures that economic growth will be around 6%.
01:24In this regard, Maduro stated that domestic trade increased by 34% and that Venezuela was the only country in the region to achieve this.
01:31The head of state also highlighted the diversity of supplies, food and tools currently being produced in the country, revealing the great capacity of the nation to guarantee its self-sufficiency despite the illegal coercive measures imposed by Washington.
01:44We are shaking off the devil's gun and the Dutch disease with production.
01:54And now we are going to have a diversified, healthy, productive economy to supply and export and be happy.
02:03Well, supply has also taken off. Supply 99.5%. We have strategic food reserves for 4 months. Never before in the history of Venezuela have we had such situation with national products.
02:20This must be achieved, which is the goal we have for 2026. In six months, a strong country.
02:33Venezuela's executive vice president, Delcio Rodriguez, noted that non-oil experts have experienced significant growth.
02:40Non-oil experts is an engine that has grown by 66%. This is very important because it is a new engine for the economy, just as you have it requested, diversifying from the oil economy.
02:53Well, non-oil experts today include seafood products, which are an extraordinary ambassador for Venezuela to place in the world, as well as other types of products.
03:03A 66% growth engine this year compared to 2024.
03:13U.S. President Donald Trump persisted in threatening the Venezuelan people amid his interest in seizing their wealth and condemned the entry of the Venezuelan migrant community into his country during Joe Biden's administration.
03:23The President Donald Trump Jr.: What's your endgame?
03:25The President Donald Trump Jr.: There's no answer. He could do whatever he wants. I mean, we have a massive armada formed, the biggest we've ever had, and by far the biggest we've ever had in South America. He could do whatever he wants. It's all right. Whatever he wants to do. If he wants to do something, if he plays tough, it'll be the last time he's ever able to play tough.
03:48The President Donald Trump Jr.: But they sent their prisoners into us. They sent people from jails and prisons. They sent people from mental institutions and insane asylums into the United States. Just walked right in because Biden had an open border policy.
04:04U.S. President Donald Trump Jr.: And U.S. President Donald Trump sent a threatening message to his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, accusing his country of sending cocaine to the United States, ignoring the fact that 70% of the narcotics that enter U.S. territory come from Ecuador.
04:23The President Donald Trump Jr.: He's no friend of the United States. He's very bad, very bad guy. And he's got to watch his ass because he makes cocaine and they send it into the United States of America from Colombia. We love the Colombian people. I love the Colombian people. They're great people. Energetic, smart, great. But their new leader is a troublemaker. And he better watch it. He better close up those cocaine factories. They have at least three major cocaine factories. We know where they are.
04:52We know where they are. He better close them up fast. Yeah. By the way, it's made and sold into the United States. Comes through Mexico.
04:59And the anti-fascist movement for peace, Chile chapter mobilized the Chilean foreign ministry to demand that the government condemn the United States aggression against Venezuela.
05:11The anti-fascist movement for peace demands that the Chilean government make a statement in favor of peace and in rejection of U.S. interference against Venezuela.
05:19The organization marched to the government palace in Santiago together with families who were exiled to the South American nation during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. Protesters also expressed their full support for Venezuela, the country that gave them shelter and work without any preconditions.

05:50Welcome back.
06:09Welcome back. One year after the disappearance and murder of four Ecuadorian minors from Guayaquil in the Las Mas Minas case, the country's public prosecutor's office delivered justice and sentenced the police officers responsible for the crime.
06:21On Monday, the fourth criminal court of Guayaquil in the Las Masks case, the 4th criminal court of Guayaquil issued its ruling and convicted 16 military personnel for the first disappearance of Josué and Ismael Arroyo, Stephen Medina and Nehemiah Arboleda.
06:34Four Afro-descendant teenagers who disappeared in December 2024 in Guayaquil.
06:39Eleven of those convicted will serve 34 years and eight months in prison, while the five cooperating witnesses will serve 30 months. Lieutenant Colonel Juan Francisco Iglesias, the 17th defendant, has been found not guilty.
06:58I believe the ruling mainly implies that as a country we should reflect on the guarantees and protection we deserve as citizens.
07:08And that the state can be responsible for disappearances through action or omission. In this case, the court confirmed both the direct facts and the lack of information that was provided.
07:21It is especially important for the country to understand that the children were not criminals and that one of the things that the court has determined is that the media must state and clarify that the children were not committing any crimes.
07:35It is also a way to restore their honor and integrity both for them and their families.
07:42Honduras National Congress President Luis Redondo denounced the interference of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration in November 30 elections.
07:54I call the interference in the electoral process in Honduras shameless, in an unprecedented event in America and the entire world.
08:02When we were 72 hours away from the elections, U.S. President Donald Trump made several publications.
08:09In one of them, he called for voters to support the National Party candidate, a party that was described by Judge Gasol, who convicted Tony Hernandez and several truck traffickers as the Cosa Nostra, as an organization that sponsors truck trafficking.
08:26Redondo also stated that all agreements approved by the Electoral Council virtually are illegal as the law does not provide for this.
08:36And at this moment, they are supposedly inside an embassy from where they intend to hold sessions.
08:45None of the decisions made in the context of these virtual sessions, and even more so given the fact that they do not even show their faces, are permitted by law, as officials can only do what the law allows them to do, and this is not permitted.
09:01Therefore, this fact is a violation, another crime against the entire 2025 electoral process.
09:08In other topics, in Bolivia, thousands of workers marched through the streets in protest against Decree 5503, which since last Wednesday has imposed a neoliberal economic policy that includes canceling fuel subsidies and handing over strategic natural resources to national and foreign private companies.
09:29Our correspondent, Fred Morales, has the details.
09:31Thousands responded to the call, but Bolivian, we have the details.
09:36He responded to the call, but Bolivian Workers' Union on the first day of protest to demand that the government repeal the decree that cancels fuel subsidies and hands-over strategic resources to private companies, national and foreign companies.
09:53We are sending a message to the central government to reconsider the dam decree, which is not simply about the increase in fuel prices behind the supreme decree.
10:03We have conducted an analysis.
10:06It includes labor flexibility, wage freezes and many other issues that will affect the entire population.
10:12The working class is not going to allow it.
10:17They are not going to allow the privatization of those companies that give services to the working class.
10:26Last Friday, an assembly of the 65 unions of the Bolivian Workers' Central decided to begin mobilizations in its strides this week to have the decree that restores neoliberalism in this country after 20 years revoked.
10:41We have given instructions. They are already blocking the nine departments. We are only here as a delegation from the Confederation as part of some federations and executives. The others are already at the designated blockade points.
10:57It affects us all, not just one sector. We want to repeal the dam law because the government was elected by the Bolivian people and not look how it is repaying the people.
11:10At least 20 of the units affiliated with the Workers' Central participated in the street protests and similar actions were announced for the coming days.
11:20People, the population, I think they are not realizing. In your articles you are promoting the sale of our country, the sale of our companies, our natural resources and that their millionaires become even richer.
11:39It was recalled that the first measures adopted by the government that took office on November 8 were to abolish taxes for the rich, while now it is asking the poor sectors to bear the brunt of the crisis.
11:54For the millionaires.
11:55For the millionaires, for the businessmen, they removed their taxes. They no longer pay taxes on their fortunes, taxes on transfers. But for the people, they issue decrease of hunger, decrease of misery. And we cannot allow this. Comrades, this movement must continue until victory.
12:19Until this dam decree 5503 is repealed.
12:26Several sectors distanced themselves from the Bolivian Workers' Central Units' destruction not to negotiate on a sectorial basis. For example, the public transport units withdrew from the Protestant Sunday after reaching agreements with the government.
12:42The government. The government reported that it was also invited to negotiate and that it will also do after consulting with its affiliated organizations.
12:49Freddy Morales, Telesur, Bolivia.

14:11countries is going through a historic moment of openness, where art has become the main bridge of understanding. The event not only marked the beginning of the annual cycle,
14:19but also consolidated itself as the ultimate symbol of the fraternity and growing cultural exchange that both nations have weeped in recent years.

14:58Welcome back. In Palestine, Gaza Strip authorities denounce the Israeli blockade as exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
15:20The Gaza Health Ministry accused Israel of waging a war of extermination against the population of the territory by blocking the entry of medicines and essential products.
15:29The health authorities also warned that some 10,000 surgical operations are at risk of being canceled due to the consequences of the shortage of medical supplies needed to perform them.
15:39In this context, the ministry reported that since the ceasefire came into effect, Israel has only allowed 30% of the agreed supplies to enter,
15:46putting at risk about 200,000 patients, including 700 who receive treatment in intensive care units, every month.

17:16Flooding in southern France forced authorities to declare an orange alert after the Herald River overflowed.
17:37The municipality of La Roque in the department of Herald is one of the most critical areas of the storm.
17:43Several images taken in the town revealed the magnitude of the rivers floating,
17:47whose waters have invaded urban centers due to the rains that began on December 20th.
17:52In view of the persistent rainfall, the Meteorological Survey has activated an orange alert in the departments of Iberon, Herald, Loserre, Tarn and Var,

18:28Nearly a month's worth of rain fell in the Reading area between Saturday and Sunday, and according to one of the city's fire stations, about 127 millimeters of rain fell.

19:43And in China, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Yang rejected a draft report by the U.S. Pentagon,
19:47which attributes to the Asian giant the deployment of more than 100 intercontinental ballistic missiles in its three most recent underground silos.
19:55According to the spokesman, such claims are part of Washington's usual practice of justifying the acceleration of the modernization of its nuclear arsenal.
20:02In this context, Lin Yang pointed out that these actions undermine global strategic stability and call on the international community to maintain a clear assessment of the situation.
